Three Dog Night in Concert

Legendary band, Three Dog Night, now in its fifth decade, claims some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. In the years 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets than Three Dog Night.

Three Dog Night hits weave through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures -- songs like "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)", "Joy to the World", "Black and White", "Shambala" and "One" serve to heighten our emotions and crystallize Three Dog Night's continuing popularity.

This Grammy-nominated band is not content resting on its legacy alone. Always working to expand its audience, Three Dog Night has embraced and been embraced by 21st century music technology. New and existing fans buy Three Dog Night's music on iTunes as well as at record stores. In fact, releases from this decade alone have sold well over a million copies.

Three Dog Night also pushed boundaries by recording with the London Symphony Orchestra, giving fans new and old a chance to experience its dynamic performances of the hits as well as several new songs. The project, recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios in London and released to coincide with the band's 35th Anniversary, added exciting new orchestral arrangements to Three Dog Night's signature sound.

Three Dog Night maintains an aggressive, year-round touring schedule of over 70 dates a year. The hit filled concerts are performed for generation-spanning audiences by Danny Hutton (founder/lead vocalist) and Michael Allsup (guitar) with Paul Kingery (bass/vocals), Pat Bautz (drums),) David Morgan (vocals) and Howard Lavarea (keyboards). The band's now-famous name refers to native Australian hunters in the outback who huddled with their dogs for warmth on cold nights; the coldest being a "Three Dog Night".

Boasting chart and sales records that are virtually unmatched in popular music Three Dog Night had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including 3 #1 singles, 11 Top 10's, 18 straight Top 20's, 7 million-selling singles and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs. The hits appeared on best-selling charts in all genres (pop, rock and country). Its records Three Dog Night Page 2 continue to sell around the world, reaching beyond the borders of the U.S. into Japan, Canada, Holland, England, Germany, Spain and elsewhere. Tens of millions of Three Dog Night records have been sold through the years.

Created in 1968 by Danny Hutton Three Dog Night recorded the music of the best (and mostly undiscovered) new songwriters of their time including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton among many others. The group's eclectic taste, combined with their ability to recognize and record hits in a unique, distinctive and appealing style, resulted in Three Dog Night dominating the charts for years.

Now, marking 50 years on the road Three Dog Night continues to grow its fan base by keeping up a full schedule of concerts at theaters, performing arts centers, fairs, festivals, corporate events, and casinos. Since 1986, the band has performed over 2,500 shows including two Super Bowls.

    Three Dog Night still rocks!

by Lubou63 on 2013-09-24Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

I knew I would know a lot of the songs but I was amazed at how well they could still sing their harmony. Their voices are still wonderful together. It was great when they started talking about how a song can to be or how they thought it would be a great hit and it wasn't. Having those personal reflections about the songs really made it very enjoyable. It was great to see a bunch of guys still totally enjoying their music together and the audience loved it!

Three Dog Night is Da Bomb !!!

by RainCoastWest on 2013-09-24Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

This is the 4th time I've been to see them - and it never gets old. As always, they were just BRILLIANT !! Having been a local musician/singer - I'm a self-confessed harmony junkie, and their harmonies just knock me down. You just hope that songs like "Prayer of the Children" will never need to be written – but Bestor's composition in TDN's hands – is absolutely sublime. I just never get tired of listening to those voices, and watching the on-stage silliness that makes us all feel like they're just kibitzing among friends (us). There is a warmth and intimacy they create – actually very much in keeping with the meaning of their name. There were standing 'Os' at the end of the night . . . we'd have kept them up there for another couple hours, if we could have.

Three Dog Night Made the Moon Full

by RWEHAVINGFUN on 2013-09-24Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

It was not only because it happened to be a full moon that this show was spectacular. Three Dog Night made the moon full of shining in your face until you want to dance goodness. One fellow was up dancing in front of the stage so often, the security had to take him back to his seat twice, before the whole space was invaded by grooving gurus of good times rock and roll for the encore performance of "Joy to the World"! Long before that though, the good times rolling little doggies were belting out the old time favorite classics like "One is the Loneliest Number," "Never Been to Spain" and "Mama Told Me Not to Come". This last number was even remade into an instant rap classic! Good to see the little doggies having such fun on stage. The band is still as tight as ever, vocally, instrumentally, and rhythmically. I would highly recommend anybody see these guys once at least... that's one more little doggie trick off my buckie list, mates. Bonus: I got to see it with an old friend from high school that I had not visited much in close to forty years! We had a great time. Buffet dinner in the Grille Restaurant on-site was also way cool! Three Dog Night - A good concert - Enjoyed it!

by Skyway on 2013-09-24Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

It started off a little ruff. At the beginning it sounded like the sound equipment wasn't set up well, etc. After the 1st few songs they got it dialed in and the rest of the evening was very good.. Thanks

    Three Dog Night

by gmdiml on 2013-04-16Casino Rama - Rama

As a life long fan I get so excited at seeing this group(for at least 20 times in my life). This was no exception. They really are a great show. But I am hoping for a revamp to the show to come up with different old songs ( would love to hear" I can Hear ya Callin"). One question, Why don't they play Eli's Comin any more , it was my first favorite song, must be some political Bull going on. But also let me say that PRAYER FOR THE CHILDREN is a new song that is absolutely fabulous, brings a tear to my eye when they play it. If they had done that in the 70's it would have been a number 1 hit for sure. Still the best 3 part harmony group in history.

    3 Dog Night was Great!

    by Joy22 on 2013-04-15Casnio Rama - Orillia

Had a great time and the songs brought back some wonderful memories. Although the vocals showed their age in some songs Corey was still amazing. The song "Prayer of the Children" which was sung during their encore (acappella) was absoultely beautiful.

    Three Dog Night were fantastic!

by MenopauseMinerva on 2013-04-15Casino Rama - Rama

They were on time. They were funny. They has such good stage presence and rapport with the audience. Loved the back ground of songs and the bands history they told us. A bunch of very talented men and wow, can they still sing! Loved hearing their old songs, some new editions to old songs and some new material they are working on now. Loved the new song they did acapella. It gave me goose bumps. It is obvious that they all love what they do as it shows in their performance. We were dancing in our seats throughout the entire concert. We would come back to see them again! I was so excited about going to the concert in the first place, because I have always wanted to see Three Dog Night, but to make it doubly special, it was also my birthday that night!

Made the trip to Rama to see the show and the guys did not disappoint, they performed flawlessly and brought back memories from the good ole days of the 70's. On the downside the crowd was rather lethargic maybe it was past their bedtime.

    Three Dog Night

    by greenthumb1977 on 2013-04-15Casino Rama - Rama

Listening to their previous hits brought back many fond memories, but I was most impressed with their new material, especially the sone Prayer for the Children. My only suggestion for improvement, in no way reflects upon the performers, but for Casino Rama, the seats are very uncomfortable and do not add in anyway to the enjoyment of the performance by the audience.

    somewhat disappointing

    by jw1137 on 2013-03-05Casino Rama - Rama

I already knew that Chuck's was the strongest/best voice of the three but Cory's was quite weak the night we saw the show. I know this can vary from show to show but he [Cory] would have a tough time covering 'One' at his best which he certainly wasn't. Danny had to carry most of the show and frankly his voice is better than I thought.

    Two Dog Night

by MarcusOrillius on 2012-10-22Music - Toronto

Ever since the split up of Chuck Negrone the band has attempted to perform with Danny and Cory and a "fill-in" In doing so gone from one of the most outstanding live bands I have ever seen to Two Dog Night trying to make up for the third vocal. Result is a disjointed show which is actually very tedious for the listener. The third "voice" is only used for harmony which again provides an unbalanced performance. If you remember these guys sat at Ontario Place in the 80's ,seeing them now will be a very unpleasent experience.
