About

Tool have defied conventions and classification through their 30-plus-year exploration of progressive rock and unorthodox visual expression at live shows. Forming in Los Angeles in 1990, the original quartet of Maynard James Keenan, Adam Jones, Danny Carey and Paul D'Amour showed relatively straightforward traces of heavy metal on initial offerings like 1992’s Opiate EP and their 1993 debut album Undertow. After recruiting bassist Justin Chancellor, the band reached major mainstream success with their sophomore album Ænima (1996), which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and netted the band’s first Grammy for Best Metal Performance for the title track. Tool’s notoriety only rose as the band pushed further into more esoteric material with 2001’s Lateralus, which kicked off a streak of three No. 1 debuts on the Billboard 200 through 2019’s Fear Inoculum. Within that span, Tool has also logged two Hot 100 singles, two additional Grammy awards and several multi-year headlining festival spots at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and more.

    Took - 11.22.2023

by Darren on 2023-11-24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Amazing show! Definitely in my top 5. Tool sounded amazing - I like the no phones requirement. Steel Beans was also impressive - first time ever seeing someone play drums, guitar and keyboard and sing at the same time. Scotiabank arena sucks for food and drink prices.

    Surreal and amazing

by Missmouse on 2023-11-24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

I have been a fan of Tool for about 30 years. Have seen them many times in concert. My fav was always seeing them outdoors. My son was coming with me this time and so for the 2nd night show i upgraded us to front row seats. It was like a one in a lifetime concert for me. Seeing them so close up. The bass player Justin handed me the setlist after the show! I was over the moon!!

    Stellar performance

by Brad on 2023-11-24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Tool are one of those bands you've got to see while you still can. They have been running amazing performances for the last 30 years and in 2023, it was no different. Lighting, effects, the band's talent, and vocals were an immersive experience and I've been so lucky to attend 3 in my life so far. Scotiabank Arena had excellent lighting and the seats were great.

Amazing experience, best I've ever been to!

by Joe on 2023-11-24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

I just can't even explain how good Tool is live, if you ever get a chance they are a concert you must go see! They had a one-man band called "Steel Beans"open for them and the giy was awesome, played the guitar and the drums at the same time and also mixed a little piano/keyboard in there too, he was very impressive. Then Tool just came out and blew my mind. I had heard they were great live but that was even an understatement! The visual stuff going on in the background was really cool but the band itself just knows how to play for a crowd had the whole place standing the whole time, rocking out to the music, quite the performance and the sound was so crisp and just the best!

    A completely immersive experience

by Raymond on 2023-11-24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

The show was beyond amazing! Every song sounded just like the original recording which I love! The light sho was incredible! I've never seen so many lazers and the visual effects were stunning! This show was worth every penny and I would definitely see them again when they return!

    Sound engineer should be fired

by Yas on 2023-11-24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

The high end was so terribly distorted. I paid 1000$ for floor tickets and the sound was so bad. Super not balanced. Many harsh frequencies. The sound engineer was def or something.

    Phenomenal

by D “Muppet Monster” Orr on 2023-11-24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

I absolutely adore TOOL. I’ve been a huge fan of their music and it has been a staple of my music collection since the mid 90’s. I always can expect nothing but an outstanding show, and am never disappointed, last show included. Their use of lights, images, and stage presence is rivalled by none (ok, very very very few) others. If I had the ability, I would catch their show repeatedly in multiple locations. I love the fact that Maynard constantly takes a back stage to have the focus on the entire band, and that every musician is showcased as they are all beyond extremely talented. I put my phone away (as per the request), sat back, and let myself be taken away by the musical experience as it was intended. I feel beyond fortunate to have experienced a performance that I lack the vocabulary to do justice in its perfection. I hope to have the opportunity to see them in concert again. Nothing but love.

    Disappointed

by SB on 2023-11-24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

For a band thats been around for decades, it’s extremely disappointing when they refuse to play any of their hits. Tucker from 102.1 The Edge said it best - its like going to McDonalds for a Big Mac and they tell you they’re sick of making them. You have to give the fans what they want and get over yourselves.

    Mesmerizing Musical Journey

by Dmin on 2023-11-24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Simply the greatest show on the planet, currently. Tool hypnotizes us with an intense wave of music woven into the vivid imagery, creating a jaw dropping experience of a lifetime. This is not an average rock show, but rather an entirely new art form. If you love their music, the show will change your view of concerts, forever!! An absolute masterpiece and a must see!!

    Music trip

by Matas on 2023-11-24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Incredible music trip through one of The best music band. I was quite disappointed when they announced no audio and video, but the fact that you can really enjoy the show with no cellphone, it’s justified.

Had a blast, but 2 observations made

    by Parabola353 on 2023-11-24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Had a blast both nights. Only complaints are nowhere to sit along the concourserse unless at a bar. I dont drink. Also, no in and out. I did VIP and entered at 315pm with no fresh air until after 11pm. Thats a long ass time to keep someone locked down in a place.

Flashlight in the eye for 500$

by Sick Tool on 2023-11-24Centre Bell - Montreal

Tool required all people to turn off their cell phone in order to focus on the show. For 500$ the tickets, it was really annoying when the security flash the flashlight as people around us used their cellphone. Unable to enjoy the full experience. Disappointed.

    TOOL plus Alex Lifeson!!!

by EchoesDaBear on 2023-11-24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Tool NEVER disappoints!! Their shows are always a spectacle of vision & sound - and this show was no different! Song selection was excellent (there is no shortage of ones that I 'wish' they would play, but what was offered was great) What made the night extra special was the 'guest' guitarist in on Alex Lifeson of Rush fame! Now as a HUGE fan of the Holy Trinity from Toronto - this was a real treat. Alex not only provided a solo, but played the entire song with Adam Jones. Opening the song with Rush's A Passage To Bangkok, segueing into Jambi, then doing the guitar solo from Bangkok, then back to Jambi, but Alex doing the solo was a sight to behold! The lightshow was top notch, and as per usual, the sound mix was superb! for such a heavy show, the instrumentation & vocals were clear & precise! Kudos to the mixer. I'll revisit Tool whenever they come! Cheers.

18,000 people on their feet for over 2 hours and nary a Swifty in sight. Plus Alex Lifeson. A perfect night.
