    Tori-nitacious

by Popcornchick on 2009-08-11Massey Hall - Toronto

Well, she's beautiful, she's enigmatic, and she's everyone's favourite sister. I always love seeing her perform but she seems to be more and more theatrical and less personable - I wish she'd just said 'Hi...' in that sweet voice of hers. I caught a couple of cheshire cat grins but she seems to me at least, to be enjoy her original work the most. 'Mother' and ultimately 'Precious Things' stood out to me as best performances.

The Tori Amos concert at Massey Hall August 10th was absolutely amazing! She never disappoints! The sound was awesome, the band was in top form, and the stage and lighting set-up was beautiful as it always is. She really is one of the best touring acts out there right now!

    my dream finally came true!!!

by Yang on 2009-08-11Massey Hall - Toronto

I've been dreamming to see her concert since high school, now finally I moved down to Toronto and my dream just came true last nigth! Tori looked stunning on the stage with her red hair and silver legging. sound system was amazing. I loved happy birthday song coz it happened to be my birthday too! I'm a little disappointed at the crazy lightings, they blocked me from seeing Tori and I almost blined after they stop flashing. Playing 2 keyboard together...um that is so Tori. I love her!

    Mystical Experience

by SwamiDevaPeter on 2009-08-11Massey Hall - Toronto

I have seen Twice before, and seems she is getter better with age. Her charismatic poses, her passion, her playfulness all contribute to her talent. Her voice is quite magical, mystical, Spiritual, and she is by far one of the greatest Diva's of our age. I've seen Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, Sara Mclaughlin , but Tori seems to be a step ahead of them. Can't wait until she comes back to Toronto again..

    Tori Passionate As Ever

by Gilbert on 2009-08-11Massey Hall - Toronto

Last night's Tori Amos concert at Massey Hall was an energetic, rollicking affair, one typical of what fans of Amos have come to expect. While short on the bigger hits - you had to be a real Tori fan, familiar with the new album and most of the others to know the tunes - many would argue you really don't need to "know" the songs beforehand in order to enjoy them live; the passion and energy of the performer, coupled with her amazingly haunting voice and unique style is simply captivating. The show was boookended, with louder, heavier material performed at the start and end and a beautiful "just Tori and the pianos" mini set in the middle during which you could have heard a pin drop; there is something to be said for sheer talent which Amos has in spades. I sensed the audience wanted more of the hits / early days material that made her famous, yet all seemed into the show, providing good energy for the duration of the nearly two hour set.

Solid show lacking in Fan Favourites.

    by Raindog4182 on 2009-08-11Massey Hall - Toronto

Overall the show was pretty good.. and entertaining for the most part. The only drawback was the lack of hits from her early career.. only Precious Things & Cornflake girl made it to the show.. the rest of the set list was primarily drawn from her last 4 albums. So, there was already a small feeling of disappointment at the close of the main set.. but when only ONE song was played for the encore.. one left truly disappointed. What could've been a fantastic show [as witnessed by the crowds reaction to These Precious Things] turned out to be a let down.

Not Dying Today, or Anytime Soon!

by Ontario on 2009-08-10Detroit Opera House - Detroit

I was struck by Tori when I first saw her videos in '91/92, at how much her music was a part of her - even now the music continues to exude from her pores and her, um, well... The way she plays with the notes coming from inside her mouth and her mind, and the way she reaches out and effortlessly plays four different keyboards during one single song: it's magical! My husband said that it's fitting she was performing in an opera house, as her performances are dynamic, engaging, superbly skilled, and very much suited to such a grandiose establishment. I was even entertained by the variety of responses she elicited from the audience: awed reverence, emotional sniffles, sensual swaying, hoots and whistles. We're all abnormally attracted to Tori!

    Tori @ Detroit Opera

by slaa on 2009-08-10Detroit Opera House - Detroit

Would have loved to hear FAST HORSE, my fave on new album. But there was lost of old tunes for the long time fans. Sounded great.. clear whisper singing voice easily heard. Nice volume. White dress, hot pink spandex leggings and black silk cape, long red hair. Super woman she is.

WaMu: Tears in eyes, and Butterflies.

by Torishia on 2009-07-17WaMu Theater - Seattle

My insides froze for the entire time I waited for her to come on stage. When she came out, my insides got all mushy, and I wanted to cry. I love her so much, and she made the entire crowd fall more in love with her. Each word, breath, and movement she made, showed her to be more beautiful than I could have imagined. She was sweet, her voice was delicate and even more enchanting in real life. I wish I could go back and watch it one hundred times over.
