Toronto FC History

Toronto FC played their first season in 2007 and became a perennial MLS Cup playoff contender after adding Italian soccer star Sebastian Giovinco in 2015. In his first year with the team, Giovinco became the first Toronto FC player to win MLS' Golden Boot, MVP and Newcomer of the Year awards, en route to the team's first-ever playoff berth. The team reached further success the following year by reaching the MLS Cup Final, then won the championship in 2017. That victory, coupled with their winning of the Canadian Championship and Supporters' Shield matches earlier in the year, made Toronto FC the first team in Major League Soccer history to complete the rare feat known as the domestic treble.

Toronto FC have been most dominant in the annual Canadian Championship, in which the club has taken home the Voyageurs Cup eight times, including in 2020. Individual player accolades include Rookie of the Year for midfielder Maurice Edu in 2007 and Most Valuable Player for attacking midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo in 2020.

Toronto FC at BMO Field

Toronto FC is the city's first Major League Soccer team and the first Canadian team in the league. When BMO Field, the team's home stadium, opened in 2007, it was already the largest soccer-specific stadium in Canada. The venue has since expanded to accommodate over 30,000 fans. The Eastern Conference team's most vocal and visible supporters club, the Red Patch Boys, started rallying online back in 2006 before the team had even played its first match.

    Experience of a Football Fan

    by A. N. on 2022-07-05BMO Field - Toronto

I loved the experience. As a football fan no matter which club or team you have supported before just watch the games of Toronto FC from Section 115/116. You'll love the experience of a fan with chants that do not stop no matter what.

    10 out of 10 atmosphere

    by P. K. on 2022-06-28BMO Field - Toronto

I wasn’t a soccer fan until I attended the TFC game. From the drumming, to the chants, they had fireworks when they won! We arrived late I thought we missed some half time show because there was live music, no, it went on for the whole game. Definitely felt the energy. Highly recommend it, if you’re not a fan, you will leave as one.

    Mill Street Patio

by George on 2022-05-31BMO Field - Toronto

We canceled our dinner reservation because we received an email from BMO Field saying that their Mill Street Patio would be open at 5pm and there would be food trucks, etc. We were surprised to find only one food truck (Poutine) and not all of us (party of 6) wanted Poutine or other items from that One truck.

    Soccer fan

by Marina on 2022-05-17BMO Field - Toronto

The checking was good. The seats ended up in the sun that we could not bear. We saw empty seats on the other side and moved. Had to change the seats a few times as the owners showed up. For $100 per seat wish there was better protection from Weather (sun, rain, snow)

    Great View

by Jimmy D. on 2022-05-17BMO Field - Toronto

TFC vs Orlando City May 14. Great view from 4 seats in Section 203 Row 24. Despite TFC,s underwhelming performance we enjoyed the vista of Lake Ontario and western views of city. These seats will provide great views of sunsets in summer. Oh ya back to the game. Affordable section of seats and we enjoyed the game from this perspective. Will definitely purchase in these section again.

    Rip off

by Andysamstag on 2022-05-17BMO Field - Toronto

As usual with all MLSE events, the prices for anything - water, beer, food - is outrageous. Shame on MLSE!

    concessions

by Penny on 2022-05-17BMO Field - Toronto

Concession lines were too long and slow. need to find a way to get the $$ out of people pockets faster that way they spend more $$ on food and drinks… like beer. Maybe someone walking around like at baseball games… get your cold beer here!!!

Why have a bag check policy?

by Christin B on 2021-11-12BMO Field - Toronto

Great experience at BMO for the TFC Match. Fairly efficient with them checking for vaccinations/proof of ID (and they did check every single person). Somewhat annoyed with the bag policy though. I understand having the policy in place (although it's VERY restrictive), however, despite the pre-game email from TFC saying those who did not follow the policy would not be admitted to BMO, the signs everywhere outside and inside the gates, and the pre-game announcement saying "Absolutely No Bags", I watched guest after guest walk in with all different types of bags/purses/backpacks that didn't come anywhere close to meeting the requirements laid out in the bag policy. So didn't I feel like a moron for scrambling to find a teeny tiny bag that didn't allow me to bring anything to make my experience at BMO and my trip to Toronto more safe/comfortable. I guess rule followers, much like nice guys, really do finish last.

    Very fun experience

by Michel on 2021-11-10BMO Field - Toronto

The environment at the BMO Field is quite nice; it is beautiful on sunny days. The seats I got from sector 221 were perfect to watch the 2 halves of the game.

    Amazing Atmosphere!

by Daryn on 2021-11-10BMO Field - Toronto

The Toronto FC game was one of the highlights of our mini moon. It was an amazing atmosphere as we almost spent more time watching the supporters section than we did the game though that was amazing to watch as well! Would recommend for everyone!
