A good fit

I was really here for Toto but ended up very pleased with the Benatar set, the song choice as well as the quality of her vocals and Giraldo's guitar work. In the past, it would have been billed as "Pat Benatar", but it really is a collaboration now, at least it is that much more evident these days. She hasn't lost anything, don't feel like you've missed seeing PB in her prime; if this is your first live show, aside from the shorter set list this is classic PB and as strong as ever. As for Toto...
This night they closed the show, my only complaint would be the sound was better for PB for whatever reason; it wasn't bad for Toto, just not as sharp, slightly muddy on occasion but that also might have been due to a soundcheck performed many hours earlier in temperatures a lot higher...if that can have some impact. At any rate, an awesome set list but since they were co-headlining, a shorter show and thus they were unable to play more tunes off their latest album (which I'm sure casual fans were thrilled with but I'd like more new material). Luke, astonishing as always, blistering guitar work and really unrivaled given the wide range of material he performs. Joseph's vocals are still fantastic, if you miss Kimball (and sometimes I do), rest-assured he can not - at his age - perform to Williams' standards, he's just too old now and many of these classic tunes are now out of his range. Paich and Porcaro, flawless. Forrest, always in the pocket, a really solid drummer and perhaps they will one day allow him to participate in the VIP meet and greet...We did just that, was fun to ask the guys questions before the show, get stuff signed, they are always hilarious and gracious, very approachable.
