Winnipeg Jets History

The Winnipeg Jets were founded in 1997 as the Thrashers, and began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season, spending 11 seasons in Atlanta and making the playoffs once in 2006-2007. In 2011, the franchise was sold to True North Sports and Entertainment, which relocated the team to Winnipeg and adopted the name of the city's original franchise in the World Hockey Association, the Jets.

Major league hockey dates back to 1972 in Winnipeg, which was home to one of the founding franchises of the WHA and one of four (along with Quebec, Hartford and Edmonton) to join the NHL when the leagues merged in 1979. The original Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996 and became the Phoenix Coyotes (now the Arizona Coyotes). In the 12 seasons that the Jets have been in Winnipeg, they’ve made six playoff appearances, including a run to the Western Conference Finals in 2018.

In 2016, the team established the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame, with the "Hot Line" trio of Anders Hedberg, Bobby Hull and Ulf Nilsson as the inaugural inductees. Recent inductees include Teemu Selänne and Teppo Numminen.

    Great experience as always!

by JetsFan! on 2023-11-15Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

Love the atmosphere at the games! So fun & upbeat! Great drink & snack selection too! One thing that could improve is the fans cleaning up after themselves. I was shocked by the amount of garbage left behind after the game. I know there are staff hired to clean, but still…do better people!

by Bearhands on 2023-11-14Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

300 section seating is poop,(close together and almost ontop of eachother) but the experience is fun at ye ol jets games. Highly advice waiting close to puck drop and buying tickets in the 200 sections. Best offer imo. Beer was $9-14 depending size etc. Food was crazy over priced but expected. Food quality was 5/10. Not un clean or anything like that but poor quality small portions. Cleanest washrooms ive ever seen at a sporting event so thats awesome. Security is tight so your very safe. Parking is meh downtown so best to be dropped off or be ready for a good ol walk if you dont wanna pay up the yang for $20 parking. 7/10 overall. Go Jets Go!

Great experience to go to rhe game , but prices of tickets, concessions are off the wall. So I eat at home, and not bother buying souvenirs.

40 minutes for a cold expensive butger

by Don’t go for the food on 2023-11-02Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

We arrived when the gates open, did a tour of the concourse and ordered at a vendor a 45 min to puck drop. 35 minutes later we got our cold burgers and onion rings. True North does not seem to care. Enjoyed the game, but unlikely to go back because the rest of the experience was horrible

    Poor view

by Clint on 2023-10-27Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

I was upset at the view as my seat was near where 2 different sheets of glass obsured my view of the goakie net and when the play went down the ice the top of the mesh made it difficult to see the game

Was ok. Good as any event can be. Chicken tenders I ate were good. Bathrooms were clean but lines were long. Not much you can do about that

    So so

by Daryl on 2023-04-27Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

Same as always. You over psy to watch a team that doesn’t know how to win. The on ice product lacks heart. Get rid of wheeler, Sceifle and Dubois. None of them want to be here. Adam Lowry is your captain.

    Let's focus on Hockey

by Cor on 2023-04-10Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

We love the game of hockey, and wish to experience that at the game. Please leave out the overdone and forced propaganda that has gotten way out of hand. The Pride messaging was so over the top that it was creepy. I am saying it - Many are thinking it and talking about it. For the love of the game, let's enjoy HOCKEY.
