Great music. Great banter. Great way to spend an evening.
As usual Old Man Leudecke had an amazing show, lots of energy despite the crowd being embarrassingly small.
An all round great night - starting with a very pleasant surprise in Del Barber - young unassuming guy from Winnipeg with some great stories and good tunes. Then the Old Man who is not really so old - and who charmed with his music and tales. I knew very little about him apart from listening to a couple of CDs and getting a recommendation from a friend which turned out to be great advice. My wife and I had a thoroughly enjoyable acoustic night!
A foot stomping good time. Played most of the crowd faves, took some requests from the crowd. Bottom line Luedecke is a consummate performer and put on a great show.
The park theatre is one of those smaller venues that encourage an intimate evening of musical entertainment. Last week was no exception with a great performace from Old Mana Luedecke as well as the ladies of the canyob. The acoustics were good and allowed for the quieter show required for a one man band- vocal and banjo (with an occasional acoustic guitar backed song). It's clear why the Old Man one two Juno's and why the fans were so appreciative. The Ladies of the Canyon also had a great show- they were fresh and vibrant. They were able to benefit from the great acoustics and the intimate environment . I saw them both in Saskatoon at the Amigo and the show was far less entertaining as it suffered from the noisier and cramped atmosphere of the restaurant.
Old Man Luedecke was such a genuine and charismatic performer. We had a wonderful time at his show. He sounds great live and he tells great little stories between songs. Hopefully more people will get to know his music now that he has won a couple Junos!
