    Awesome as Usual

by Lady T on 2023-06-12Oakdale Golf & Country Club - North York

Third time to the Canadian Open. The experience is second to none. They have great volunteers who are so helpful and knowledgable, great vendors and sponsor booths with lots of fan interaction. And of course the golf is spectacular -- especially this year with so many Canadian players in the running. The only downside this year was the parking chaos. There was poor signage and direction to the area and the volunteers did not know what they were doing. It was a poor start to a great day.

    Parking Disaster at the Open

by Pat on 2023-06-11Oakdale Golf & Country Club - North York

We had been advised there was signage in the neighbourhood of the parking lot. Not true. The only sign was right in front of the entrance to the lot. Once we found the lot, the parking attendant said to follow the cars but the one car in front of us went the wrong way. Finally, no one ever checked that we had bought a parking ticket! The shuttle bus driver to the course from the parking lot was excellent. The driver of the first bus several people tried to get onto for the ride back to the parking lot refused to take anyone, insisting he was only going to 7, wherever that was. So we all took the second bus in line. Parking was horribly disorganized.

    Oakdale Open

by Barrie Guy on 2023-06-11Oakdale Golf & Country Club - North York

We attended Thursday and had a great day watching the golfers and enyoying the golf course. The parking and shuttles were efficient. The course layout was challenging from the tough fairways with thick rough to the undulating greens with tricky turns. The vendors were friendly and varied with few lineups. The volunteers were effective at allowing access to the viewing areas. All of this made the Open experience one of the best we've had in the past 15 years.

    Golf was great but……

by Cathy on 2023-06-11Oakdale Golf & Country Club - North York

Paid for general admission parking. No address of where said parking was. Nightmare to find and then single file entry. Huge queue. Took us an hr to get in. Attendants boxed in cars. Very poorly organized parking

    Bad viewing

by SMURF on 2023-06-11Oakdale Golf & Country Club - North York

Spectator viewing was not good. Could not get in behind most tee blocks to watch the players hit, so we stood on side and couldn't follow the shots. Could not get behind most greens as it was bleachered off for the rich. Also it was very hard to navigate around course and get in front of players you want to see because there was bad crossings. You crossed on one spot then you had to go way back or way down next hole to cross that hole. Also most holes without bleachers did not have viewing access behind the green.

    Awesome

by Golf enthusiast on 2023-06-11Oakdale Golf & Country Club - North York

The vibe, organization of the holes was great. Expensive. Should have transportation directly to a subway. Should have been clear markings of uber, shuttle to car and shuttle to subway. Volunteers were not informed where to direct patrons. Water at the sinks at the washrooms ran out. Put soap on hands, no water to remove...

Parking was a nightmare. Food way below standard.

by Par on 2023-06-11Oakdale Golf & Country Club - North York

Nobody checked any parking or charged for parking at downsview, frustrating knowing that I prepaid parking and so many people did not get charged. Long lineup for food. Very disorganized and ended up paying $13 for an undercooked and cold cheeseburger. Not enough food variety.

    Great Canadian Event

by TrueNorth on 2023-06-11Oakdale Golf & Country Club - North York

Perfect day. Great talent on the course although several top stars didn’t come to Canada for our National Championship. Prices for admission very high and food and drinks at the concessions were way over-priced. Friday and Saturday admission prices should not be inflated just because there’s a concert 3 hours later that most golf fans didn’t attend. Totally unfair to those not wanting to see a concert.

by BT on 2023-06-10Oakdale Golf & Country Club - North York

Enjoyed the day, but... not enough directional signage to location of spectator parking to, and from, venue. After driving an hour in heavy traffic, last thing we needed was to be going in circles trying to find parking lot. Food and bev at site far too expensive. $30 for a cold hot dog and caesar drink!! Volunteers, for the most part, were friendly and helpful. Anyone hired SHOULD be able to speak English well.

Not a golf fan, still had fun.

by Young on 2022-06-21St. George's Golf and Country Club - Toronto

The golf experience wasn't for everyone, but the course was beautiful. Even though i wasnt a golf fan, i got to follow rory Mcilroy for a few holes and that is an experience of its own. The concert was why i bought the tickets and i gotta say that was superb. They came on a little late probably to make sure most of the people at the line is able to get into the venue. Once maroon 5 started performing, they didn't stop until they were done. 10/10 would go again.

Fantastic course....but that first hole concession....

by Golf Fan Mike on 2022-06-17St. George's Golf and Country Club - Toronto

The course was amazing, the display of golf impressive and generally overall a great experience attending on the Thursday. And the venue was great with a couple of minor issues: Because it is now in June, parking and accessing is a challenge. Great to have the Uber pick-up spot....nice if there were iPhone charges so if your battery died you could order one. But the worst part of the day was lining up at the concession by the first green which was tremendously understaffed and very slow. It was a 45 minute line-up. Clearly the logistics of serving (how about more readily prepared items and creating a separate booth for beverages) and signage/staff advising there are other concession options not far away.

    Canadian Open golf 2022

by Dave 153 on 2022-06-16St. George's Golf and Country Club - Toronto

Very efficient remote parking with very nice air conditioned buses for shuttling. Took a bit of a long time to get through the entry but not outlandish. Course in great condition, good sight lines for spectators on most holes. The concession lineups were very long at times, not nearly enough concessions on the front nine. Other than those issues, another very well run Canadian Open!

    Unorganized

by The Beat on 2022-06-16St. George's Golf and Country Club - Toronto

Having attended 10 Canadian Opens this was the most unorganized. On entry no tee sheets, no programs, no map. Merchandise stores were not open. Washrooms were not plentiful. No cash transactions available. Not enough event workers around to guide people. Not enough directional signage. Very poorly run event! The golf was wonderful!! TB

Loved the golf , facilitates could do better

by First time at golf today on 2022-06-15St. George's Golf and Country Club - Toronto

I was really excited to attend the open and had an amazing time . I understand there is a staffing shortage, and I think this I where my negatives lie, but we waited 45 mins for pre ordered food , with no instructions where we should pick up lots of others found the same thing , the ordering system lagged and timed out but , food was good . Difficult to find your way around . Lack of signposts, apart from the day to day . Waited 30 mins in a line at the bar , and gave up . As a quarrel erupted an we weremissing too much golf and that was the whole point .Atmosphere was fantastic and the course was immaculate, all the staff/volunteers we fabulous friendly and a lot of fun. Washrooms disgusting but that’s what you get at a very male dominated event. No water or paper at hand washing stations Little chaotic when we left. We ran into a demonstration!! Could have been more Marshall’s for bus allocation and again direction , lots of others not sure what bus and where . Will go back in 2024 , with a little more knowledge and probably take a VIP package.
