Five years after their original frontman, Layne Staley, died of a drug overdose, Alice in Chains made an unlikely return in 2007. Surviving band members Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez, and Sean Kinney recruited frontman William DuVall to join the group, first for some well-received concerts, then to go on tour. Next came a new album, 2009's "Black Gives Way To Blue," which got glowing reviews, entered The Billboard 200 at No. 5, and led to more shows with fast-moving tickets. In 2013, the band released their second post-Staley album, this time reaching No. 2 on The Billboard 200. The only AIC album to chart higher was 1995's self-titled set -- the band's last with Staley -- which reached No. 1.
Alice in Chains' dark take on rock emerged from the same late '80s Seattle scene that also spawned fellow grunge acts Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden, among others. With Staley at the helm, the band recorded rock radio staples like "Rooster," "Heaven Beside You," "Got Me Wrong," and "Would?" The band has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards -- including two with DuVall on the mic -- but so far haven't won an award.
For my first rock concert, I loved it really. Well done
Dispite the awful croud, Alice in Chains delivered an amazing performance.
I saw them for the first time with Layne 22 years ago...I loved them then and I love them still.Their music has remained top notch throughout the years¸and their fans are as loyal as they come.Great vibe at AIC shows always and the sound was mint! Great setlist, they even through in some tunes we haven't heard in a while. As long as I can watch them live,I will.
Never let down by this band. They continue to rock!
expecting a little more show man ship. should have played longer.
good sound, played all the faves, great light show
Alice in Chains put on a heck of a show. Every member of the band gave everything they had. So enjoyable. The venue was great. I just wished the audience got on their feet and were a little louder to show their appreciation for an amazing band.
Was a great time seats were good music rocked only issue is that I wish I could have gotten a t shirt after the show as well
Alice in Chains & Monster Truck were an amazing pairing of bands!
Alice in chains put on a predictable show with pleasant lighting and good sound. No surprises just good hard rock.
The sound at the concert was horrible. It was OK during some of the quieter songs but during the heavier stuff the bass over powered everything and made a mess out of some great work by the band. The band was good and tight but the sound really sucked .
As a long time fan of the band from when they opened the North American Clash of the Titans tour back in the early 90's I had mixed emotions leading up to this show. I was pleasantly surprised though. William did a great job of honoring the role he now plays as the vocalist. He might be trying too hard to to sound like Layne at some points but all of that can easily be forgiven. There will only be one Layne and no one could ever replace him perfectly. The band is as tight as ever and the newer music has moved forward with a darker, brooding sound that is an extension of where Layne's work left off. They played a very solid mix of old and new material which often gave me goosebumps and at one point I teared up during Nutshell; it made me think of the unplugged version and what would be one of Layne's final performances with the band. If you are a fan of AIC get out there and see them. It is worth it and make sure you don't resent William for not being Layne. That is petty and unfair. The dude has a very tough role to fill and he does a good job of it without trying to make us forget who he has replaced.
AIC blew me away. I was setting my self up for disappointment but it was amazing! The new singer is great. Jerry was awesome as usual. Sound quality was amazing. Only problem I had was with the crowd. Bunch of comped tickets, had no idea who they were. But the real AIC fans know it was a great show.
EXCELLENT- GREAT VENUE TO SEE A BAND,SOUND IS GREAT AT SO IS THE SEATING
5th time seeing them, love them, closest we've ever been!
Awesome. Loved it! Great voices and stage presence! The whole crowd loved it.
Finally get to see them and Alice in Chains did not disappoint.
I looked forward to this concert for months. It was so loud and distorted you couldn't understand anything, could barely tell what song was being played. It was terrible
Fantastic sound, great setlist, awesome show! no more needs to be said!
Great show. I would have have it 5 stars but it was a little short. Only 16 songs and was out there by 1015
