About

Amon Amarth have been marching purposefully from triumph to greater triumph for the last two decades. Formed amid the fertile Swedish metal scene in the mid 90's, these dedicated diehards brought a new sense of drama and destruction to the world of heavy music, propagating tales of Viking mythology and mortal combat over a devastating soundtrack of crushing rhythms, refined melody and rousing, rebellious refrains. From the release of their debut album Once Sent From The Golden Hall in 1998, to their latest masterpiece Jomsviking, Amon Amarth’s trajectory has been firmly upward, as this band’s devotion to touring the world and spreading their inspirational creed resonates with the ever-growing hordes of like-minded metalheads.

Swedish war machine Sabaton are on their way to worldwide heavy metal domination. These platinum selling, Falun-based heavy metal heroes are heading to Australia. No mercy will be given and all guns will be blazing, as this tireless killing machine prepares to blow fans to another dimension, playing songs off their entire catalogue as well as their latest opus The Last Stand.

Amon Amarth tore it up at the Garrick! First set was the entire new album and the second set list was classics. Awesome show!

Outstanding performance. Double set, played the new albumn front to back then all the classics. Saw this show in Philly 3 months earlier and the Toronto show rocked harder for sure

  • Amon Amarth Will Never Be Stopped

by shoez on 2011-08-15Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The show was typical Amon Amarth... amazing. They always bring a great energy to their live shows and their sound is always precise and full force. A double set that works out to be almost 3 hours of Amon Amarth was the only way this band should ever tour. The Commodore Ballroom is the best venue in Vancouver, and it sounded amazing to have a heavy band fill the room with their sonic assault. Amon Amarth is a band that I will see everytime I'm in a town they're playing.

  • Amon Amarth slayed the Phoenix

by PocketWatch on 2011-08-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Amon Amarth was an amazing show!! The band waited until everyone was inside the building before they began their first set, much appreciated by the long line up waiting patiently to hear them. They played through their newest CD: Surtur Rising in it's intierty, had a short beer brake, and rocked the stage for hours with their older tracks. It was unforgettable, I cannot wait to see them live again!

  • Fantastic

by Dyls on 2011-08-14Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I am speechless. They put on one of the best shows i have ever seen. They played every single song i was hoping to hear, things like Asator, and their entire Surtur Rising album. When they played Guardians of Asgaard and broke out into that solo, i may have shed a tear or two.. The pit was great, awesome atmosphere, all around a fantastic show.

  • AMON AMARTH

by Bert801 on 2011-08-14The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

AMAZING. Great atmoshpere and unforgettable show. Only downside, reallllllly long lineup to get in and waited a while to watch the band because they had to wait for everybody to get in. Doors opened at 8pm but the show didn't start till about 9:30pm. But other than that, amazing show. LOVED how there were no opening bands, just two sets of pure Amon Amarth, I wish that every show I went to had no opening bands.

despite the long line up, torn T-shirt (moshpit), jarring speakers the event was a blast. It started at 9:30 (despite Ticketmaster said doors open at 8), and finished at 1:30, wish it would go on for another hour :).

All floor seats, amazingly friendly crowd, if you fell down someone would have you back on your feet in an instant - even in the pits. All floor seats and a very personal venue, Amon Amarth ran a great show. The most intense pit Ive ever been in.

  • Amazing Evening

by RugbyShawna on 2011-08-11The Garrick Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Amon Amarth absolutely tore the Garrick apart! I loved how they played their ENTIRE new album, had a short break then continued on with some of their biggest older hits. A must see for any die hard metalhead!

  • Vikings Unite!

by CodFather on 2011-08-11The Garrick Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

While the name of the show - An Evening with Amon Amarth - seems to hint at sitting around drinking tea and discussing current events this show was a brutal onslaught from true master of metal. This show was a must see for me and Amon Amarth did not disappoint. From the opening song, War of the Gods, to the last, Pursuit of Vikings, Amon Amarth kept up the energy and the crowd enthralled. A must see for any fan of metal!

  • amon amarth killed it!!!

by gorgor on 2011-08-11The Garrick Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

unexpectedly, amon amarth played two sets! starting off with playing the entire new 'surtur' cd. 'glad we got there early enough! they played everything so perfectly, slashing their way through 'destroyer' with the crowd moshing and headbanging and fist banging! as johan stated, they would play surtur, take a little break, and then come back for another set of 'the hits'. freakin' awesome...all for 40 clams?! all totalled, they crushed for nearly three hours, the second set featured 'twilight', 'death in fire', 'guardians'...saving 'blackbirds' and 'pursuit' for the encore. there was a lot of good ol' metal sing alongs for all, and the band was very appreciative of the response. genuinely appreciative. amon amarth left their mark and i would gladly see them again. i will wear my concert shirt with pride and remember that night for all time. valhalla awaits!

  • Viking Extravaganza

by Furens on 2011-08-11The Garrick Centre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

Great show and tremendous value! Most death metal bands will play for about an hour tops, but AA played a double set almost 2 hrs long. The new album sounds good live though the final song is a bit of dud. Then came the second set. I was a little bit disappointed that there was not a lot of "classic" AA material presented. Only 3 songs from The Crusher or earlier so basically it was an abbreviated version of the touring setlist for the previous record, Twillight of the Thundergod. Still a lot of great songs and the last 10 years of AA albums are definitely stronger than the early stuff, but still would have liked to hear some truly obscure material. Solid staging and excellent use of lighting on the epic backdrop. No fire though and as will all shows at the Garrick Theatre, the sound was iffy. A bit bettter than usual but not as good as you get at basically any other venue in Winnipeg.

  • Amon Amarth was freaking the best ever.

by rudesmurf on 2011-08-10Edmonton Event Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Amon Amarth did a double set. First set was their entire new album and second set was older songs. This was the best show I have been to in ages. Johan is a metal god.

  • by method61 on 2011-08-10Edmonton Event Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show! The minimal amount of stage effects really got the show kick started. I was completely floored at how great they sound live.

  • Amon Amarth delivers

by CanadianNorwegian on 2011-08-09Garrick Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

This will be a short review. Johan Hegg and the rest of Amon Amarth delivered an outstanding show. Double set with plenty of great songs from both the new album and some older ones. The only complaint is that they did not play "Fate of Norns" and very much should have. It's an epic song. But they did play all of the other songs that touch you in a very pagan way. Outstanding concert and will be attending their future concerts. The Garrick Centre is o.k. but the sounds is kinda "off" in there. Could be better. But hey, glad I got to see them.

  • by collywood on 2011-08-09Edmonton Event Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

  • 2 freaking sets...unbelievable...

by Saeniti on 2011-08-09Edmonton Event Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

3 Hours of viking death metal madness. Incredible performance. Very impressed with the bands abilities and endurance. They played their entire new album, took a short break and then an entire second set. Who needs opening bands when you're this good. Encore was 3 songs....
