About

Barenaked Ladies are a popular Canadian rock band that hit it big in the U.S. with their 1998  Billboard Hot 100 No.1 hit single “One Week.” With their eclectic blend of witty lyrics, pop harmonies and melodic folk, the band was already charting in Canada in 1992 with singles like “Be My Yoko Ono,” “If I Had $1000000” and “Brian Wilson.” It was their fourth studio album, Stunt (1998), that turned them into a global sensation behind “One Week.” The album also peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Barenaked Ladies would go on to sell 15 million albums worldwide and pen the iconic theme song for award-winning television sitcom The Big Bang Theory. Since 2012, the Canadian rockers have toured their Last Summer on Earth tour. The tour has featured bands like Gin Blossoms, Blues Traveler, Ben Folds Five, Violent Femmes, KT Tunstall and many others. The quartet was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2018.

    Fantastic concert

by Teegs on 2010-04-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The opener, Joel Plaskett, was incredible. I love his music, and to see him perform live was awesome. The Barenaked Ladies were absolutely fantastic. I saw then previously at the Enmax centre in Lethbridge in 2007 when Steven Page was still a member and they were fantastic. I have to say, though, I think I enjoyed them more the second time around. They really proved that they can be great even minus a member. Ed really stepped up as the lead vocalist. It was just a fantastic show.

Without Steven Page, the band managed to crash and burn on "One Week" and sang a barely passable rendition of "If I Had $1000000." Their new music left the fans sitting and praying for the next old tune, followed by additional praying that the old song wouldn't be butchered.

    WHAT A SHOW!!

by BanffScottie on 2010-04-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

What a night of music and Comedy! You can tell that Kevin, Ed, Jim, and Tyler love what they do, and the friendship they have. The music was a perfect balance of classics and new CD. The new sound is great, and after hearing the new songs live, I couldn't wait to get in the car to hear them again... Another selections of songs that are sure to be BNL classics!!!

They were awesome!!! They are soo talented and funny. You could see what a great camaraderie they all have including the new guy (he has only been with the band 16 years) I would recommend this band to anyone, any age.

by HissettFit on 2010-04-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This is the third time I have seen BNL...every show is sooo different and sooo amazing I will keep going as long as they keep coming! I have never seen a concert at the Jube before...and it was amazing. No seat was a bad seat (we were second balcony!) Parking was easy and it was easier quicker getting out too! Thanks again BNL! I <3 you guys!

BNL warm up Calgary on a chilly night!

by whyliegirl on 2010-04-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Went to see the Ladies last night amidst a typical Calgary spring blizzard. It was a fantastic show. I kept expecting to miss Steven Page's vocals, but I just didn't. If I had a million dollars was the only song that I missed him on. The guys put on a fantastic show as always, a good mix of music and their special brand of banter. Thanks guys!!!

    BNL rocked the Jube!

by Paule on 2010-04-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

They were funny and engaging. They are talented muscians . I thought they might shy away from songs that Stephen Page sang leads on, but no, they headed right for them and sang their hearts out. I have always thought that Ed had a beautiful voice but he hit notes I had never heard him sing before and the rest of the guys stepped right up to do harmonies as well as sing some of their own songs. I have never been prouder to be a fan of BNL than last night. The guys were just awesome. They also took the high road and didn`t do any bashing of their former band mate which I thought was extremely classy. BNL are a talented band who showed last night just how gifted they really are. It was beyond a thrill. BNL is alive and well and still going strong after 20 years together. Yeah!

Exactly what you'd expect from BNL

by EarthMama on 2010-04-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

With most bands, you go to the concert for the songs, and once you've heard them, you you go home thinking, "I sure love ### song." With Barenaked Ladies, though, you go in not really knowing WHAT to expect, as every concert in every venue is different, and they did not disappoint us last night. We were all wondering what the chemistry -as well as the sound- would be like with the obvious lack of one no-longer Lady, but there was no cause for concern, as they were just as crisp as ever, playing the songs as though it were the first time; mistakes were made and toys didn't work, but the Ladies joked about them and made them part of their schtick in typical BNL fashion. In fact, I'd have to say that they seemed to be having even MORE fun than they had in the last concert or two of theirs that I'd attended! All of the members spoke their part and made jokes along with the ever-vocal Ed, and it was nice to see Kevin come out of his shell with impromptu punchlines, epiphanies, and even ditties that he sang for the crowd! The greatest thing about BNL over the years has been the sense that they are really enjoying doing what they do on the stage in front of their screaming fans night after night, and this concert was no exception. Not only did they play some of our old favourites as well as some of the new songs that are destined to become new favourites (I just love the new album, and it felt great to hear each of the songs I'd been listening to nearly non-stop since the album was released), but they made the effort to please the audience with an off-the-cuff (if not somewhat unpolished) rendition of one of their kids' songs from 'Snacktime!' simply because a little girl had held up a sign asking for it. That's what makes the Ladies great, and that's why each time I see them, they seem greater each time.

Barenaked Ladies - Too much fun

by kcheeb on 2010-04-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The sound at the Jubilee was awesome as usual. The bands were energetic, fun, joked around with us and generally had a great time, which made us have a great time. Would go see them again in a heart beat.

    Still fun, still funny

by SpiritPlay on 2010-04-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

You have to love a concert where they make you laugh out loud over and over again. They're still BNL, they're still funny, they're still fun, and they still rock.

    All things considered, pretty sweet

by DasAppletree on 2010-04-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Considering BNL were missing their primary vocalist for the past 15+ years, it was a great show. Ed was great in place of Page on the classic play list. The newer stuff was OK. The only negative, were the three solo songs by the keyboardist and bassist.

    BNL has still got it!

by Vicker on 2010-04-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Even without Steve Paige, the Barenaked Ladies have still got the same stage prescense that they always had, minus 1. Kevin picks up the vocals perfectly. Thanks BNL for not giving up!

    A good show but..

by Altrissa on 2010-04-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Ed did a great job of covering vocals for Steve Page but the band should be prohibited from EVER singing "If I Had $1 000 000" again. It was awful! Kevin Hearn sung backup and when it came time to do their improv bits, they just stopped singing so Ed could tell a rambling story about coffee. Page was definitely the more talented improviser. I loved that they did rarely sung tunes, such as Life, In A Nutshell and Big Bang Theory. All in all, a great show, proving that BNL are doing just fine with 4 members.
