  • LOUD!

by jazzytap on 2012-02-22Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 1 out of 5

Being 71 and a lover of jazz and pop standards, I have never been a big fan of rock music although I do enjoy some music in that genre. I had taught music for 33 years in the public schools and enjoyed performing Chicago's "Does Anybody Know What Time It Is?" and "If You Leave Me Now" so I thought it would be good to hear it live. But to my dismay, everything at this concert was loud, loud, loud! The bass reverberated throughout my whole body and my ears were pounding. I don't think the sound technician or the performers know the meaning of soft. I had to leave the theatre during the last half hour. Yes, the musicians are talented and some of the music is good but the evening was a waste of my time and money. What a contrast to Tony Bennett whom I was fortunate to hear last month. That is a class music act. Tony exudes energy, heart and soul whereas Chicago mainly exudes loudness and energy.

Show was O.K. They are good musicians but I didn't think they played all their hits.

  • Chicago was outstanding

Probably the very best rock concert I have ever attended. The smaller size concert hall made it up close and personal.

  • Chicago was better than ever!!!

This was a very good concert. We had great seats (are there any bad ones at the River Rock?) Amazing energy, 2 hours without a break. This was the best.

  • Great Concert!

Chicago is definitely not just another geezer band. These guys are alive and well! I loved that they were clearly having a blast with each other and the music ... really doing what they love. The sound quality was excellent. The playlist was extensive. The brass was amazing. And Robert Lamm's voice took me right back to those Saturdays in the park when I was 17!

  • I even had tears with this one

by deinesgp on 2012-02-20River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

First off so excited with the seats that we had and I was able to have my husband at the river rock to show him how beautiful it was, then it started. Right off the bat, all the songs that we all know and love and...............they still sounded like they always did. It looked like to that they werent there just to show their love of their music, they showed us that after all these years, they were there for their fans. All of them had smiles on that went on forever and seeing them having fun. So talented and amazing. Still cant get over the fact that I/we finally got to see the band that we all have loved, forever

  • Chicago! 45 and still going strong.

by Drafter on 2012-02-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 5 out of 5

As advertised, they played songs from almost every album. The show was very high energy and the sound quality was excellent. They performed for more than 90 minutes non stop. I feel that we realy got our money's worth.

This concert was absolutely fabulous. Despite not having Peter Cetera, Adam did a wonderful job on vocals for many of Peters songs. The artists were engaging to the audience and the small venue made it feel like it was a personal evening with this amazing group!!

  • Great Show!

by AuthorityOnChicago on 2012-02-19River Rock - RichmondRating: 4 out of 5

The band members were all present -- no substitutes -- including a lively percussionist. They're very tight and enthusiastic, maintaining a good rapport with the audience. The horn section had some flashy dance moves! They only played their hits, with nothing more recent than Chicago 18. The one surprise for devoted fans like me was "Street Player", their non-hit disco number from Chicago XIII, performed along with a flashy disco ball. My one comment would be to give guitarist Keith Howland more to sing! He only sang lead on a truncated version of "Feeling Stronger Every Day"... At the same time, new keyboardist Lou Pardini has a great voice and used it well.

  • Chicago rocked the Rock!

by thomasfromthepuddle on 2012-02-19River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

Hi all: I have the pleacure of going to see Chicago at the River Rock and it was better than i could have hoped for. After reading all the haters comments on youtube (specialy becasue Ceterra was not there) I was wondering if would be good. The band was tight, they all seemed like they wanted to be there and they played all the hits. The sound was right on, not too loud, the vocals were great, I thought Jason did a great job on his songs, and liked the way the shared all the vocals. The only thing i would tell them (if they ever read this) play the WHOLE song, 'feeling stronger" just playing the last half left me feeling a bit cheated as it is one of my all favorite songs. Other that that very small omission... I love the show and wish... i had gone the night before too!

  • Chicago what a Terrible Surprise!

by Timetosayyoursorry on 2012-02-19River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 2 out of 5

The horns and sax players were great and they obviously enjoyed performing. The two drummers were talented. The lead singer was terrible. Full of treble and sharps and with a voice that wouldn't make it on American Idol or the X Factor...shrill and too loud, like Chicago is trying out kareoke singers who don't know how to control their voice, the volume, or the pitch. An insult to other members of the band and the audience who shelled out over $100. The other young singer who played keyboards didn't sound like a Chicago vocalist and so I was very unimpressed. The only vocalist who was an original was Robert Lam who sang a couple of songs and for once in the evening you knew you were listening to Chicago. But even old Robert looked tired and was going through the motions wishing he was anywhere but at the concert. I know he is from Ill a noise but he looked ill at ease as well. Perhaps its time the band left the stage, or got some vocalists that have the Right Stuff and have the Chicago Sound. A mixed bag of a concert. For the same money, I could attend 8 hours of classical concerts with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra with real pros.

The replacement for Peter Cetera was great. The original band members was a joy to watch and hear. Glad we got to see them for our first time. It was one of our memorable Valentine gifts to one another.

  • Chicago Fabulous

by Alto on 2012-02-19River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

What a Band, hard to believe they've been together 45 years. They still play like young kids, so enthusiastic and such great entertainers. It is always a thrill to see Chicago perform. The Best horns anywhere, Loved it.

  • Pretty Good Overall

by CatAnn on 2012-02-19River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 3 out of 5

Pretty good...I thought some of the vocals could have been better - not radio quality or anything like that - but I guess that's what happens when all original members are not performing. Again, pretty good concert. If you're a die hard Chicago fan, I am sure you will enjoy it.

Sounded great. Professional, engaging and enjoyable. They played songs that we hadn't heard for years.

  • What happened to question 67 and 68?

Non stop for nearly 2 hours playing almost all their hits. Huge repetoire of music.

  • It was a great concert with amazing energy!!!

by Doe5 on 2012-02-19River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

I was thoroughly impressed this time around. I had seen them at the River Rock the last time they were here and the energy as well as the music selection was less to be desired. I was a bit apprehensive upon arrival but was pleasantly surprised with the song choices, and the obvious change in energy. The guys sounded great and definitely kept everyone dancing. It was so amazing I was disappointed when it was over.

  • AMAZING IN EVERY WAY!!!!

by Kaap on 2012-02-19Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 5 out of 5

Hard to believe Chicago has been around for such a long time, because by their performance (the sound was so tight, crisp and all together from the vocals to the music) they were every bit as good as from years back. They are all such great musicians (my favourites are 2 of the originals, James Pankow and Walter Parazaider.) Everyone still has such energy and they all are truly gifted musicians! Would see them as many times as they came. You would definitely not be disappointed seeing them. They put on a FANTASTIC show and I recommend them 100 percent!!!

They had so many hits from so many albums that I didn't even realize what a huge part of my life they were. Their horns are one of a kind for 'rock' music and with their distinct sound still in tact they did not dissapoint.
