  • Fantastic group, solid performance

by Gridlock on 2012-02-18Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 4 out of 5

The group performed as many of the hits that it could fit into the 2 hours. Loved the old boys, and the new additions, well laid out, friendly atmosphere with the audience draw in to participate several times. Well deserved standing ovations, and the returns. On the technical side I thought the sound system as a bit murky, with some muddiness, a few decibels too many to try to cover up its lack of clarity. Our seats were excellent, far enough away to capture the whole group, yet close enough to see clearly the players facial expressions.

  • Awesome Performance By An Awesome Group

by CJDFNS on 2012-02-18Jack Singer Concert Hall - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

This show was amazing. About two hours of nonstop fun. The band interacts so well with the audience. It shows they care about us and are appreciative. Jason Scheff is okay with some of the faster paced songs but really I did not enjoy his slow versions at all. A shame because I feel he actually ruined the slow songs. My favourite moment was the couple dancing in the aisle until security asked them to stop. Funny thing though, the band gave us their blessing to dance if we felt the desire to. Overall it was a great show and well worth the money. I enjoyed being in the same room with a band that saw me through so many moments of my life

Great show. What a treat to see and hear such great musicians just tear it up on stage. I enjoyed their music for years and finally got a chance to see them live. Loved the show!

  • A Class Act

by pickering on 2012-02-14Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

After decades of performing, you would think Chicago would lose their passion..NOT SO!! A truly classic concert with entertainers that love to entertain. They have a great time on stage and you have a great time watching them. I would recommend this show highly.

  • Chicago was exceptional!!

by Dottsy on 2012-02-11National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Chicago still have a high energy show filled with non-stop hits over their 45 year career. I enjoyed the obvious camaderie that exists among the horn section which incidentally includes three original members. They included four of my personal favorites "Saturday in the Park", "Old days", " Color my world" and "Free."

  • Chicago in Ottawa

by LeBigGuy on 2012-02-06National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

Overall I loved this show. Some of the sound quality on some of the vocals seemed a little rough to me, but both percussion guys were coming across just super. At times, the horns seemed a little overwhelmed by the rest of the band. A great selection of tunes and the beginning string of four or five early songs really set the tone of the show for me. Anyway, Chicago has been on my bucket list even before there were bucket lists. I'm glad I got to see them.

  • Great instrumentals, poor vocals

by HJane on 2012-02-06National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

Nobody can replace Peter Cetera, but if you can't sing like, him, don't even try. All the favourites were there, but the vocals were strained, extremely pitchy and honestly, very disappointing. The original members were excellent - their instrumental talent is still A1! I might go to see them again, but only if they change their singers.

  • Chicago has still got it!

by tlcrideau on 2012-02-06National Arts Centre - Ottawa, OntarioRating: 5 out of 5

Friday nights show at the NAC was wonderful. Yes, there were some sound level problems that made it hard to hear some of the words, but who needed that when everyone in the audience knew the words. The sound of the music more than made up for it! Thanks, guys, you've still got it, and I was so glad to be able to be on hand to experience it! Looking forward to a return visit, please don't let it be too long!

  • Loved it

Loved the trombone. Wish they would have played all of Feeling Stronger. They should have played Question 67 and 68. But otherwise an amazing concert. Well worth the price of admission.

Excellent show. Chicago played their greatest hits along with some newer tunes. What I like the most is that they play their hits live as they were recorded or very close to it.

  • Chicago was great

Wow.....although the years has changed the Band's line-up....the music remains timeless. A class act with classic music. Chicago brought out all the best of their best...brought me back to 'old days'........

  • No wonder they've sold 122 million albums!

Oh so tight, oh so entertaining. This is what live music is supposed to feel like, a sensory overload of pleasure. Thank you Chicago...

  • Chicago - Think They're Past their Shelf Life

by LittleZuri on 2012-02-05National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

Have seen Chicago four times over the years in different venues and have always enjoyed them. However, this time I don't know whether it was the sound system or the acoustics at the National Arts Center here in Ottawa or whether it was the vocals in the group. But both my partner and I thought the vocals were muffled and very hard to hear or distinguish the words. Overall, the concert was enjoyable for the music and they played non-stop for basically two hours and all their biggest hits from the many years of performing. But all good things must end and unfortunately I think it is time for Chicago to pack it in. Am going to see Jim Cuddy 6 days later in same location and will see if the vocals are clearer and sound better.

horns were fab , band great vocals from the bass player - awful , screechy, to loud , damaged the songs only saved by the great music / horns songs with out him on vocals were fantastic rumbling on the street after the show had the same sentiment disappointing
