About

Dave Matthews Band in Concert

With a career spanning more than 27 years, Dave Matthews Band is one of the most influential bands in rock history. In 1991, vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs he had written on tape and sought the assistance of drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who were both accomplished jazz musicians in the local Charlottesville, VA music scene. 16-year-old bassist Stefan Lessard came on board shortly thereafter. Their infectious, distinctive sound garnered lots of early attention and a die-hard loyal fan base, catapulting the band into one of the most successful touring acts of the past three decades.

The group has since released nine studio albums and numerous live recordings, selling a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined since the 1994 release of its major label debut, Under the Table and Dreaming. The GRAMMY®-winning band's many hits include "What Would You Say," "Crash Into Me," "Too Much," "Everyday," "American Baby," "Funny The Way It Is," "Mercy" and "Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)."

Founding member LeRoi Moore passed away in August of 2008 and the band paid tribute to him with 2009's Platinum-certified Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Dave Matthews Band has since welcomed longtime collaborators/touring musicians Jeff Coffin (saxophone), Rashawn Ross (horns) and Tim Reynolds (guitar) into the lineup and - most recently - keyboardist Buddy Strong.

With 2018's Come Tomorrow, Dave Matthews Band became the first group in history to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In a Critic's Pick review, The New York Times observed, "willed optimism fills the songs on 'Come Tomorrow,' while cynicism and irony are nowhere within earshot... each song notes the fears and sorrows it's determined to overcome. The music does that, with consolation in its melodies and a life force in its rhythms."

Renowned for their live performances, Dave Matthews Band has sold over 24 million tickets since its inception and ranked as the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade. The group's Bama Works Fund, established in 1999, has raised more than $52 million dollars for humanitarian and environmental initiatives.

  • Poor

Wish I could have given 0 stars I’ve seen over 125 concerts and this was one of the worst. People around me seemed to enjoy it but he played only 1 hit and one cover that was decent. I left in the encore (as did others around me) as most the music was obscure and irrelevance

  • Not so good

by AnnieD on 2022-11-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

I was very excited to see Dave Matthew Band - I had heard for years how amazing they were, and i enjoyed their hits. Pros: Due to lack of ticket sales, we were moved to better seats. There was an amazing local trombone player for 2 songs - I have never heard a trombone played like that before. Very very good musicians Cons: The sound was muddled, There was no real interaction with the audience except the odd politcal statement and mumbled thank you very much (in lovely Virginian accent) Band seemed to be distracted and not sure what they were doing or what the set was - a lot of milling about between songs like you'd expect with a high school band When I go to see an "older" band, I like to hear the hits and songs that made the band famous - interspersed with new or B side music. However, there were literally only 1 or 2 songs that I knew. Not even Crash was played for the encore. We had a long drive home, and managed to play a lot of hits we knew just to feel like we saw the Dave Matthews Band Personally, I would not recommend this tour unless you are a super-fan who knows all of the lesser-known songs and wants to feel like you are watching an incredibly talented band play as though they are in the garage, working on their songs.

Dave Matthews Band always puts on an amazing show & this one was no different. Playing some of their heavier songs & deep cuts it was a true fans night.

  • Good, not great

by All by Design on 2022-11-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

With a library as large as DMB has, not everyone is going to be happy. However, too many of the biggest songs weren’t played. Dave’s interactions also weren’t that engaging. He must have said “thank you very much” about a dozen times or more. It seemed like filler for “the space between” the songs. Last time he played here was epic, so this one definitely left us disappointed.

  • Amazing are always

  • Rogers arena

by RF on 2022-11-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

Our seats were reassigned prior to concert and we were put in a row where floor patrons were constantly going up aisle throughout concert to access concourse. Very annoying as well as view was obstructed most of show. Actually worst seats I've ever had. Would have enjoyed show from our original purchased seats but ended up leaving early as it was not an enjoyable show. Dave Mathews was good but distractions were too much

  • Best show yet

by Family of 4 on 2022-11-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

We have seen DMB at the Gorge as well but this experience was the best yet. After the ticket reassignment we were excited to have good seats across from the stage. But prior to the show, staff with the band offered us an upgrade… To right beside the stage, row 4. We couldn’t have been any closer. The boys put on a monster of a show and we truly had an amazing time. Highly recommend seeing DMB any chance you get.

  • Fantastic show.

by Chi chi on 2022-11-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The band sounded amazing. The cover of ‘Fool in the Rain’ by Led Zeppelin was such a great surprise and they absolutely killed it! It had been almost 6 years since they played in Vancouver. Hopefully we don’t have to wait that long for them to come back.

  • Amazing show!!

Dave Matthews Band put on a stellar performance. Definitely some of the most talented individuals I've ever watched perform. Great show!!

  • Always an excellent show

by Debbie on 2022-11-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I liked the smaller venue size that made the experience more intimate. Great sound, lighting, effects and fans make the band's shows special for me. Can't wait until they return!! :)

  • who doesn't love Dave?

Always a great time. The band was on fire! It's like 20,000 people get a glimpse of an intimate jam session by the band. Dave's dancing always makes me smile. Thank you DMB!!

  • Words cannot describe…

There is nothing like seeing Dave Matthews Band live….from start to finish, the emotion and passion put into these songs live combined with the energy from the audience…. Described in one word…..Love.

  • Great Show!

by BRIAN on 2022-06-27Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Easily in the top 10 best concerts I have ever been to. Fantastic musicianship, the entire band are all amazing performers as well. It was a perfect summer night, my first outdoor show since the pandemic. Great vibes all around, you could really feel the energy in the crowd, even at the back in the lawn seats! I would recommend seeing DMB to just about anyone. Even if the genre isn't your favourite you will not regret seeing them live.

  • DMB at the amphitheatre

by Frobobabies on 2022-06-27Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The entrance process was smooth and we found our seats with no issues. However. There was a huge issue with smokers in the 400 section (not the designated smoking areas). As a pregnant woman, this was an issue for me and I wore a mask to try to protect myself for the majority of the show. There were also a lot of seat hoppers and interruptions as a result. I think these issues and the rules surrounding them could be more strictly enforced by the venue.

  • Dave was great, audio was sh1t

    by L.M. on 2022-06-27Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

We were in section 201, row XX, seats 1/2 and the audio was horrible. When Dave was speaking he was unintelligible. Couldn’t understand a word he was saying. Music was great but we couldn’t hear his voice well, either when he was speaking or singing. I assume it was my section since a friend was in the middle and heard him just fine and very clearly.

  • Bad Sound!

by Gary on 2022-06-27Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

We were sitting in the 300 section closest to the washroom side and food section. The sound was very boomy and muffled. There was very little clarity and high end for vocals and the horn section. I have seen DMB before so I know what they can sound like! We were very disappointed and left half way through the concert to see if the sound improved, it didn't...

  • Grest concert, nervous of crowds

by AMAM on 2022-06-27Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Absolutely amazing concert. The staff at all of the booths were fantastic, I really appreciated their demeanor, masks, and over-all fantastic individuals (I visited merch booth, pizza booth, and bar)

  • DMB - A must see event

by Cdn Davehead on 2022-06-26Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Dave Matthews Band brought everything to the show and left nothing on the table. A killer set list and an amazing evening. It was a warm Summer evening but a gentle breeze was blowing through the stands to make the atmosphere just right for a night with DMB. Bartender to open the night up followed by #41, which was awesome and set a real chill vibe. So Right to pick things up a bit, Grace is Gone, then kind of surprised, Carter jumps into Old Dirt Hill. When the World Ends, The Only Thing, then Don’t Drink The Water. The band really stepped into that one and got the crowd going. Come On Come On, Louisiana Bayou, The Space Between, then Madmen’s Eyes where they kind of played around with a few other song bits. Next up Dave grabs the mandolin and settles into playing Sweet. This song grabs you and hits right in the heart. Then going back a few years…The Song That Jane Likes. Dave takes off his guitar and steps up to the mic for a high energy performance of Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer. Didn’t see that one coming, but it was amazing. The band really hit that one, and gave Dave lots of support. Lying in the Hands of God with a little American Baby Intro thrown in the middle. A crowd favourite in Warehouse, then She. The next song blew me away. It was the final song of the set, and the band really poured themselves into it. The lighting effects, Carter’s drums, the horns, Stephan laying it down, Tim soloing in and out, and Dave belting it out…it was the perfect way to finish the set with Two Step, and leave the crowd screaming for more. Dave came back out and played a sweet version of Virginia in the Rain, followed by the full band coming back on stage to pump the crown up one more time with the final song of the night - Ants Marching. If you haven’t seen the Dave Matthew’s Band live in concert, get yourself a ticket and get to one of their events. You will thank yourself for doing so.

  • Dave Matthews Bank @ 'Ontario Place'

by Kim on 2022-06-26Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Great show in a relatively intimate setting. Played all the 'favourites'. Crowd was super chill and just enjoying the music. Only complaint is the confusion getting into the venue; Event crew/security were not very helpful regarding where to line up and the signage was very misleading.

  • Band good. Sound system poor.

by Putzypoo on 2022-06-26Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Normally the sounds is good at Budweiser but Dave sounded like he was at the bottom of a pool. Seats were just south of sound board so they had to have known. Too bad. The band was in good form.
