About

Dave Matthews Band in Concert

With a career spanning more than 27 years, Dave Matthews Band is one of the most influential bands in rock history. In 1991, vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs he had written on tape and sought the assistance of drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who were both accomplished jazz musicians in the local Charlottesville, VA music scene. 16-year-old bassist Stefan Lessard came on board shortly thereafter. Their infectious, distinctive sound garnered lots of early attention and a die-hard loyal fan base, catapulting the band into one of the most successful touring acts of the past three decades.

The group has since released nine studio albums and numerous live recordings, selling a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined since the 1994 release of its major label debut, Under the Table and Dreaming. The GRAMMY®-winning band's many hits include "What Would You Say," "Crash Into Me," "Too Much," "Everyday," "American Baby," "Funny The Way It Is," "Mercy" and "Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)."

Founding member LeRoi Moore passed away in August of 2008 and the band paid tribute to him with 2009's Platinum-certified Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Dave Matthews Band has since welcomed longtime collaborators/touring musicians Jeff Coffin (saxophone), Rashawn Ross (horns) and Tim Reynolds (guitar) into the lineup and - most recently - keyboardist Buddy Strong.

With 2018's Come Tomorrow, Dave Matthews Band became the first group in history to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In a Critic's Pick review, The New York Times observed, "willed optimism fills the songs on 'Come Tomorrow,' while cynicism and irony are nowhere within earshot... each song notes the fears and sorrows it's determined to overcome. The music does that, with consolation in its melodies and a life force in its rhythms."

Renowned for their live performances, Dave Matthews Band has sold over 24 million tickets since its inception and ranked as the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade. The group's Bama Works Fund, established in 1999, has raised more than $52 million dollars for humanitarian and environmental initiatives.

  • DMB new CD makes a killing!

by Tubby on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

DMB played one of the best set lists ever! He played a nice mix of the old stuff with the new and he absolutely blew me away. Go if you ever get the opportunity. You only live once!

  • DMB aways worth your time

by vegasweet on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

He is the best live artist I have seen! But he needs to come to Canada more and all the way across the country! I had to fly in from Alberta to see him! My third time flying to Toronto for a show because there are no western Canada shows!

  • Dave blows me away

by Dash on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I see Dave Matthews every year that he is in Toronto. This year's show blew me away - it was better than all the concerts I have ever been to. I will definitely go to all his shows in the future!

  • DMB is just in a different level...

  • DMB, One of the best live acts of all time

by FairlynewDMfan on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing the Dave Matthews Band live. I know it will not be the last. What an explosive act. Each member of the band is a super talent. The rhythm section is awesome I'd put them right up there with John Bonham and John Paul Jones. The cuts they played off the new album were inspiring. The album written in the memory of fallen band mate LeRoi Moore promotes celebration of life. I never even got to enjoy the seat that I paid for as I upon my feet all night.

  • Dave Hot Night Cold

by Enthralled on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

As I listened to the great sound that Dave Mathews Band played it made my feet move and warmed my heart on what was a colder than expected evening. I have been to many Dave Mathews Band shows and although it was not his best. It still had some unique and remembered moments. I am old enough to know who The Talking Heads are and thought their version was awsome, even though the younger generation had no clue and chose to talk during this classic. As the sky got darker the concert got more intimate and the encore really rocked. Looking forward to next tour.

  • As always, amazing

Watching Dave Matthews at Molson Amp is always one of my favourite venues. Thought this might be my last DMB concert but their new album has renewed interest in remaining a loyal fan.

  • Another solid DMB show

by Portamedic on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Great 150-minute jam-filled set. Thought is was stronger than the set they played a couple of years ago. DMB consistently delivers the goods.

  • Loved it!

I love Dave Matthews Band. This past concert was my 12th concert and it was amazing.

  • Best DMB Concert I've Seen!

by Norah on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Dave Matthews concert was the best out of the four I've seen. Dave was personable, funny, and related to the audience. There were long periods of jamming and Tim Renyolds was amazing and an added bonus!! He played old and new, it was such a good time!

  • Coffin does LeRoi justice!

by zahurz on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Great show as always by Dave and the boys. The band looks to be having more fun on-stage than ever and there is no shortage of rememberance for their fallen bandmate LeRoi Moore. Jeff Coffin (Moore's replacement) of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones has done a tremendous job filling in some tremendous shades. His solo work on #41 and Crush were highlights of the show. If there was one fallback on the new album and subsequently the new live show, it's the back-seat that violinist Boyd Tinsley seems to have taken. With that being said he is still relevant on tracks such as Two-Step and even the first single from Big Whiskey, Funny The Way It Is. If you are a lover of live music.... don't miss the next Dave Matthews Band show. In one word; electrifying.

  • Dave Mathews Band--More than you pay for!!!

    by Lola911 on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This show was incredible....the band went out of their way to out do themselves!!! Completely incredible...great energy!

  • Dave + Molson + organization!

by Muriluo on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Matthews Band is responsible for one or the greatest concert going on in the world nowadays! Their songs are really good and their performance is impressive! The musicians are top players, and on top of my head I can't tell another group that brings together (one of) the best players on each instrument. The sound quality was outstanding and the light effects plus the big screen were really good! Molson Amphitheater is a nice place for concerts and Dave Mathews Band in there was a great match! Security and organization were really good. The bad note is that they charge $10 a beer! Let us people drink and have fun!

  • Dave Mathews Rocks!

    by bigfan10 on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I was so excited to see him and wasn't dissapointed. One of my all time favorite bands. Can't wait for the new album.

  • DMB rocks Toronto like never before

    by hammy41 on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Wow is all I have to say. After seeing DMB perform 24 times live (2 times in Toronto) I would have to say that this show was definately one of the best. Suprising considering DMB tends not to bring their A game in Canada. I think the difference was the fans. Right from the beginning the band fed off the energy from the crowd and didn't stop rocking. The 3 hour show was highlighted by Crush, Two Step and #41.

  • Dave Matthews Delivers!

by Blake on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

If there's one thing you can count on it's getting a great showfFrom Dave and the Band. Smooth, professional, enjoyable-- pick a positive attribute and it applies to them.

  • amazing.....summer sizzler!

by Rosieanna on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Matthews was definitly heart felt.....as usual! He was excited with the crowd and the entire band was buzzing.....with electricity.... Everyone was dancing, standing up...throughout the entrire concert....and singing, often while toasting with a cool drink.....or just waving there arms! I loved it! My husband and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary of our marriage...and while Dave M and the band were singing "You and Me Together"......We wished each other a happy anniversary! It was truly a magical night...one that I will always cherish

  • Dave Rocks

I have been to 9 Dave Matthrews concerts, best seats, worst seats, and I have to say the concert in Toronto this year was pretty much the best one I've seen. Sat on the lawn, after years of paying scalpers for 100's and I have to say it is my new favorite place to be. Noboby is uptight on the grass and you can sing and dance your heart out.

  • Dave Matthews Band; great kick to start summer

    by dudeman881 on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

A friend of mine a few months ago first introduced me to "Crash Into Me" by DMB and i fell in love. i bought tickets for me and my girlfriend for her birthday and spent to whole night there. I know im not the biggest DMB fan so some of the songs were new to me. but that did not matter because the skill and playing of these amazing musicians made sure that they weren't new to me anymore. This summer i am planning on seeing more concerts that i'm sure will be amazing as well but there is no way that the bands i will later see is as unique as Dave Matthews Band. Definitely a must see band, great start to the summer!
