Dave Matthews Band in Concert

With a career spanning more than 27 years, Dave Matthews Band is one of the most influential bands in rock history. In 1991, vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs he had written on tape and sought the assistance of drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who were both accomplished jazz musicians in the local Charlottesville, VA music scene. 16-year-old bassist Stefan Lessard came on board shortly thereafter. Their infectious, distinctive sound garnered lots of early attention and a die-hard loyal fan base, catapulting the band into one of the most successful touring acts of the past three decades.

The group has since released nine studio albums and numerous live recordings, selling a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined since the 1994 release of its major label debut, Under the Table and Dreaming. The GRAMMY®-winning band's many hits include "What Would You Say," "Crash Into Me," "Too Much," "Everyday," "American Baby," "Funny The Way It Is," "Mercy" and "Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)."

Founding member LeRoi Moore passed away in August of 2008 and the band paid tribute to him with 2009's Platinum-certified Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Dave Matthews Band has since welcomed longtime collaborators/touring musicians Jeff Coffin (saxophone), Rashawn Ross (horns) and Tim Reynolds (guitar) into the lineup and - most recently - keyboardist Buddy Strong.

With 2018's Come Tomorrow, Dave Matthews Band became the first group in history to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In a Critic's Pick review, The New York Times observed, "willed optimism fills the songs on 'Come Tomorrow,' while cynicism and irony are nowhere within earshot... each song notes the fears and sorrows it's determined to overcome. The music does that, with consolation in its melodies and a life force in its rhythms."

Renowned for their live performances, Dave Matthews Band has sold over 24 million tickets since its inception and ranked as the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade. The group's Bama Works Fund, established in 1999, has raised more than $52 million dollars for humanitarian and environmental initiatives.

I was never their biggest fan- but seeing them live has changed my mind big time- My husband has loved them forever- We were amazed on how long their set was- they only had one opening band then they played the rest of the show- they were amazing and so musically talented!!

  • Reliable DMB

    by Pros007 on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Once again, the DMB has proven why they are the best live act in the planet. They perfectly mixed their old greats with new hits off of Big Whiskey. Loved the energy of Aligator Pie, Crush, 41, and Two step. I bought four friends with me who have never seen them live before, and they can`t wait to go again. The boys always find a way to perform above all other concerts.

  • Great concert. Great Band.

DMB played a great show once again. Second time I've seen them and definitely won't be the last.

  • DMB had the Grux in the house.

by GrooGruxGunner on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

First to mention..."We all miss you Roy" ...and always will. But this was a great show for me for one main reason, that being I had the chance to take my 2 year old son to his first Dave show! (Well second really as he was in Mommy's belly for the first one). He knows all the band members...even Jeff and was just thrilled to see Carter up close and Dave leaving in his tour bus after the show. He had a special T-shirt made that had "The GrooGrux Kid" on the back and that went over well with all that noticed. Regarding the show....WOW...way to go guys, what a great pick-me-up show with many of the new songs from the recently released album being played along with a number of classics and new covers as well. Jeff is finding his groove with the band and Tim and Rawshan were superb as usuall. The Fam can't wait til next years show!!!

  • DMB

by hiboudolly on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The show was awesome. When you love every song, of course you are going to love the show. I could have done without hearing some of the older favorites and more of the new album but that is not up to me. I'll take whatever they are giving.

  • DMB - 2.5 hours ... awesome

by Hendrik on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Playing for over 2 hours at that level is incredible ... the pure talent of the band is showcased 'live' more than the albums can portray. I now see what the hype is about ... that being my first show.

  • Dave Matthews Band is incomparable!!

by DMFan on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Matthews is a fantastic talent, and a genuine musician. No one puts out the style and level of music that he does, and he does it without any gimmicks or ego. When you go to see the Dave Matthews Band, that's who you see - Dave often steps back and allows each extremely talented member of the group to come forward and showcase their abilities. The show was fabulous from start to finish.

  • Best DMB Set I've Ever Heard

by Zimmer on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to quite a few DMB concerts and this time he out did himself! It was the BEST set including the best of his old stuff and the best of his new stuff. I'm sorry for those who missed it!

  • DMB - Brilliant and Breathtaking!!!

by BigDMBFan on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

How do I sum up one of the best concerts I've ever seen? Brilliant and breathtaking! This concert had the best of both worlds... some of their new stuff and a lot of their old stuff. For me the highlights were "Two Step", "Stay or Leave" and "You and Me." I am a big fan of Tim Reynolds too and he is on tour with them right now, so I was very happy to see him on the stage!! Dave's 2 little girls were at the side of the stage dancing with their pink headphones on!! Too cute! They went wild when "Alligator Pie" came on because it is a song for Stella!

  • Dave Matthews Band - my new fav

  • Best Dave Concert YET!

by bradgold on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This show was my third time seeing Dave Live and with no doubt it was the most upbeat, dynamic and incredible show yet! Groogrux King definitely took to the stage and Leroi's presence was felt by all....with DMB adding some extra flavour and heart to their lyrics.
