About

Dave Matthews Band in Concert

With a career spanning more than 27 years, Dave Matthews Band is one of the most influential bands in rock history. In 1991, vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs he had written on tape and sought the assistance of drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who were both accomplished jazz musicians in the local Charlottesville, VA music scene. 16-year-old bassist Stefan Lessard came on board shortly thereafter. Their infectious, distinctive sound garnered lots of early attention and a die-hard loyal fan base, catapulting the band into one of the most successful touring acts of the past three decades.

The group has since released nine studio albums and numerous live recordings, selling a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined since the 1994 release of its major label debut, Under the Table and Dreaming. The GRAMMY®-winning band's many hits include "What Would You Say," "Crash Into Me," "Too Much," "Everyday," "American Baby," "Funny The Way It Is," "Mercy" and "Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)."

Founding member LeRoi Moore passed away in August of 2008 and the band paid tribute to him with 2009's Platinum-certified Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Dave Matthews Band has since welcomed longtime collaborators/touring musicians Jeff Coffin (saxophone), Rashawn Ross (horns) and Tim Reynolds (guitar) into the lineup and - most recently - keyboardist Buddy Strong.

With 2018's Come Tomorrow, Dave Matthews Band became the first group in history to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In a Critic's Pick review, The New York Times observed, "willed optimism fills the songs on 'Come Tomorrow,' while cynicism and irony are nowhere within earshot... each song notes the fears and sorrows it's determined to overcome. The music does that, with consolation in its melodies and a life force in its rhythms."

Renowned for their live performances, Dave Matthews Band has sold over 24 million tickets since its inception and ranked as the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade. The group's Bama Works Fund, established in 1999, has raised more than $52 million dollars for humanitarian and environmental initiatives.

  • BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE

by Josaphina on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a devout Dave fan for 10 years now. Last years concert in Toronto left many people disappointed as he played so much unreleased material that those who were there for the hits did not come back this year. They made a massive mistake. The talent, the energy, the new album and all the performances made for hands down one of the best nights of the my life. Big Whiskey is one of Dave's greatest albums. I am still going through withdrawal months later and can't wait to see him again.

  • sick time!

Good tunes, great crowd. Dave blew away the crowd with hits from his new album and a good selection of oldies

  • Wouldn't miss it for the world.

  • Dave Matthews Band Rocks!!!

by Leesaq on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Definitely one of the best concerts I've been to. I had lawn seats and it was still amazing. This band is definitely one that any music lover should see at least once in their lifetime. The music is amazing, and each person in the band brings something very special to every performance. A MUST SEE!!!

The Dave Matthews Band puts on a show like no other, the venue was great, the setlist was amazing, the talent was pure and real.

  • Good Show

by JerM on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

As always DMB put on a solid, entertaining show. Not a dull moment. I've been to their shows before and I always end up saying the same thing. I've seen better shows (Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers), but I've also definately seen worse. Even if you're not a huge DMB fan (which I'm not), it's easy to get into the mood and enjoy their concerts. Overall a good time and I'll be there again next time they play.

  • What a concert is meant to be.

by kivster on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Matthews Band really outdid themselves with a jampacked, 2 hour and 45 minute set, playing almost the entire new album, along with the perfect choice of old favourites. They made a great tribute to deceased sax player Leroi Moore, and really made a personal connection to the fans. Every fan left the show saying it was the best they had ever seen Dave. This band really knows how to give the fans their money's worth. You can be sure I'll be at their show next summer.

  • Great sounds, great night

I really enjoyed this event. I sat on the lawn for the first time, it was different but very fun.

  • UNFORGETTABLE

by lbandiera on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to many dave concerts in the pasy 10 years...but I gotta say this was amazing!! The new album was hard to get used to (as I find with most dave albums....as they are always different)....but hearing the songs live made the cd comparable to some of the best!! I danced the night away on the lawn section even though I had puchased seats. The atmosphere out there is electric. Thanks Dave for another great night!

  • Dave...sooo good!

    by ash14 on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to countless Dave Matthews Band concerts and this past concert was, without a doubt, hands down, the BEST one i have experienced yet! as always there was so much energy and love...but what i really noticed was an instant connection with the new songs from their most recent album. sometimes i find that crowds don't respond as well, initially, to new music......but at this concert, everyone was jamming the entire time. SOO GOOOOOD!

  • Dave Matthews Band was Amazing!

The Dave Matthews Band - Toronto Show was amazing.

  • Better than words can describe!

by emmmaleigh on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The DMB concert at Molson on June 9th was magical! Dave is an amazing recording artist and in person he is a god and he is a king. This show is a night I will never forget!

  • DMB In Toronto was incredible!

by DMBFan on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Matthews at the Molson Amphitheatre was amazing!! The crowd didn't seem to be too into his new music, (mostly because the new CD was only a week or so old), but incredible! Dave's expressiveness is as cool as the music. LOVED Burning Down the House! Huge voices and incredible musicians. I've seen them three times, and never been anything close to disappointed!!

  • Amazing DMB

by KPandCG on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen him before and never heard a set list like this one, it was one amazing song after another. The crowd we were around were true Dave fans and we all sang along to every song. Dave is a great entertainer I would recomend anyone to see him even if they don't know his music they will be amazed with his and his bands talent. ABSOLUTLY LOVED IT!

  • Dave did not disappoint!

by Hayzeus on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Dave et. al showed up and delivered. It looked like it might rain, and it was a little cool out, but the band warmed up the crowd with their tunes. The Molson Amphitheatre is a great place to see bands. Only downside is that the bathroom line ups pretty much mean you're going to be missing a few songs.

  • DMB is the greatest live show ever!!!!

by Deschenes on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was my 6th time going to see the Dave Matthews Band. Their complete disregard for normal time signatures and basic song structure is my favorite thing. Every song is like a roller coaster ride where you can't see the next turn comming. The band pulls off some of the best randitions of older songs, usually creating an entirely new rockout feel to older tunes. I would personally guarentee this concert to be a good time for any music fan out there.

  • Two Step Amazing!!
