Dave Matthews Band in Concert

With a career spanning more than 27 years, Dave Matthews Band is one of the most influential bands in rock history. In 1991, vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs he had written on tape and sought the assistance of drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who were both accomplished jazz musicians in the local Charlottesville, VA music scene. 16-year-old bassist Stefan Lessard came on board shortly thereafter. Their infectious, distinctive sound garnered lots of early attention and a die-hard loyal fan base, catapulting the band into one of the most successful touring acts of the past three decades.

The group has since released nine studio albums and numerous live recordings, selling a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined since the 1994 release of its major label debut, Under the Table and Dreaming. The GRAMMY®-winning band's many hits include "What Would You Say," "Crash Into Me," "Too Much," "Everyday," "American Baby," "Funny The Way It Is," "Mercy" and "Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)."

Founding member LeRoi Moore passed away in August of 2008 and the band paid tribute to him with 2009's Platinum-certified Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Dave Matthews Band has since welcomed longtime collaborators/touring musicians Jeff Coffin (saxophone), Rashawn Ross (horns) and Tim Reynolds (guitar) into the lineup and - most recently - keyboardist Buddy Strong.

With 2018's Come Tomorrow, Dave Matthews Band became the first group in history to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In a Critic's Pick review, The New York Times observed, "willed optimism fills the songs on 'Come Tomorrow,' while cynicism and irony are nowhere within earshot... each song notes the fears and sorrows it's determined to overcome. The music does that, with consolation in its melodies and a life force in its rhythms."

Renowned for their live performances, Dave Matthews Band has sold over 24 million tickets since its inception and ranked as the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade. The group's Bama Works Fund, established in 1999, has raised more than $52 million dollars for humanitarian and environmental initiatives.

  • Love at first sight?

by Lidia on 2012-12-10Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Well the crowd told me what kind of mood the music provided. A guy came on to me serenading me during the opening of a song and while he was with his girlfriend! I said she is over there and he says but I want to do it with you! Several times during the concert this happened. Is this the meaning to alternative rock? Anyways the sound was amazing and the light show awesome. Want more? Walking up the stairs to leave the auditorium a guy say lots of lovely women tonight and I looked at hijm and he says ok ya. Well you know even the drummer who stayed on the stage throwing away drum sticks at the end of the show was trying to whip a drum stick at me when I turned back at him and watched. The drum stick reached 3/4 of the way to me across the arena in Section 122. He then pumped an errected fist at me! Wow! Karma or what?!

  • First time DMB Concert won't be my last!

by JayInPEC on 2012-12-09Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Always wanted to see DMB as I had heard live they are the band to see, and now I see why! Also DMB had probably the best sound I have ever heard in ACC and I have seen over 50 big name concerts at this Arena over the years. The opener Jimmy Cliff also was great as well.

  • Dave Matthews Band - BEST EVER!!!!!!

by DMBROCKSME on 2012-12-09Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was my seventh time seeing DMB and definitely the best concert I have been to!!!!. My first experience was fantastic - they are such a tight band. They please their fans with the variety of their new and old music.

  • Perfect mix of old and new hits

    by 1212two on 2012-12-09Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was incredible! You could tell the band was enjoying themselves and the energy in the arena was off the charts. Dave came out to introduce the opening act himself, which I thought was very sweet. DBM played from 8pm-ish until 11:20pm and ended the night with 'Two Step'.

  • Dave Matthews a little to mellow

by Krisbo on 2012-12-09Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

I have to say that this was my ninth DMB show and this was one of my least favorites. The show never really got going until about 3/4 of the way through. He never really played some fan favorites. I'm hoping next time is better cuz I'm. Huge fan.

  • DMB at the Gorge is the BEST

by WillieW on 2012-09-05Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

This venue is spectacular and the sound was great. The band rocked under a Blue Moon. Opening acts of Avett Brothers provided energy and Allan Stone Band provided great vocals and groove.

  • Concert was perfect

Dave puts his heart in every song and the band shows talent every single time. One of the best shows hands down.

  • Amazing, even with the rain and bug swarm!

by fabavg on 2012-06-04Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

We saw DMB years ago at Molson Amphitheatre and at the ACC...they were amazing then and still kick butt today. To be honest, I haven't followed their recent albums but they are absolutely incredible live. It really didn't matter if I wasn't familiar with all of their songs. Huge set list (18 + 3 encore) = nearly 3 hours of solid jamming. DMB never fails to disappoint, they are always a must-see.

  • Smoke on the Columbia's Water

An excellent venue for music and a delightful concert by a master entertainer. Great sound for an open event. Plenty of rocking tunes and frisbees galore.

  • Sooooo disappointed

by Anonymous on 2010-09-17Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 1 out of 5

Really disappointed with song selection. Couldn't get into the show at all - others in our section were leaving before it was done. I expected to know more than 3 songs....

  • DMB put on another amazing weekend at the gorge.

by Gottajaboo on 2010-09-13Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

This was my fourth DMB show at the gorge. It was awesome! The band is just so tight, they always play an amazing set. They have a large catologue now and can easily play three unique sets during the weekend.

  • It was Dave! 'Nuff said!

by crashnburn on 2010-09-08Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

Recognized all but one, sang along to most. It was really great. My only complaint is that my old bones did not like standing on the slope for the entire concert. So it goes. I felt very fortunate being at the concert at the Gorge in such great weather, and doubly so for being able to attend with my daughter. Thank you Dave and all the guys in the band. It was a wonderful experience.

  • Dave Matthews is always EPIC!

My 8th year attending from Canada!! Wouldn't miss this event for the world!! Until I can afford the floor seating tho - would love more screen showing of the band for those on the hill. Binoculars just don't cut it.

  • I can't believe that it

took me this long in my life to experience the DAVE MATTTHEWS BAND live and with the venue of the Gorge- AMAZING Wow- thank you all for making this weekend such a pleasure to experience- I can't wait until I can visit again-

  • by Anonymous on 2010-09-07Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

The music was amazing, and the sound was great all the way up on the lawn. My disappointment came from all the people walking in front of us for the whole show and people talking over all the performances. If you want to party, get seats on the lawn. If you want to enjoy the music, pay extra for seats.

  • Dave Matthews Band at the Gorge was magical!

by Snooz on 2010-09-07Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Matthews at the Gorge was absolutely surreal. The setting, the music, the sound, the talent of all the musicians, the lights, the stage show, the total engagement of this band's audience... all added up to an incredible evening! MORE PLEASE!
