About

Death Cab for Cutie was formed in Bellingham, WA in 1997 and almost immediately entered the ranks of the era's definitive bands, fueled in large part by the remarkable power of co-founder, lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Benjamin Gibbard's complex, often bittersweet songcraft. The band made their worldwide popular breakthrough with 2003's RIAA Platinum certified Transatlanticism, later named by NPR as one of "The Decade's 50 Most Important Recordings." Plans, their 2005 Atlantic Records debut, saw Death Cab for Cutie ascending to even greater heights, earning RIAA platinum certification and a GRAMMY® Award nomination for "Best Alternative Album" while spawning the chart-topping singles, "Soul Meets Body," "Crooked Teeth," and "I Will Follow You into the Dark," the latter of which was honored with a GRAMMY® nod for "Best Pop Performance By Duo Or Group With Vocals."

  • DCFC was Great!

by dumbdog on 2011-11-08Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I treated myself, my hubby and two sons; 18 and 20 to the concert! I didn't mind the first band (can't remember their name) because Death Cab definitively sounded Fantastic after them!!! My hubby and sons could have done without them altogether! We had a Great Time! The songs were so powerful! Love Ben's voice! My son bought the DVD with their concert from Mount Baker Theatre in Bellingham! We cranked it up on the surround sound and enjoyed on Sunday nite! Felt like we were back at the concert! It was so neat to go to a concert together as a Family! We will do that again for sure!!

Death Cab are unreal live! The show was the perfect mix of new and old songs. Throughout the entire show Ben and the band were fantastic! Def. a show I can recommend to anybody.

  • Death Cab good, Hold Steady, not so much

by HeadaB on 2011-10-24Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Death Cab put on a great show! Good mix of oldies and new stuff. I think it was a little ambitious for them to try and fill Rogers Arena (seats 18,000), so the atmosphere was a little lacking. Also, the opening band....was terrible, definitely the wrong vibe for this indie rock show. All in all, I'll come a little late next time, and just enjoy the headliner.

One of the best shows I've ever seen. What an incredible live performance.

  • Death Cab in Roger's Arena

by billybarty on 2011-10-24Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

When the show was announced, I wondered how many people would be at a DCFC show in Roger's Arena. It's a big venue and while the band has some very good songs, most are not really "arena rockers". I paid for the highest priced tickets at sidestage, thinking I'd have a good view of the whole set-up but it wasn't as good as I'd hoped with cables and other equipment blocking the sightlines. The band themselves were great, playing a long set and playing the songs well with lots of energy....but the place was just too big. Hard to judge how many people were there but I'd guess around 5000 which is still a lot of bodies but not in a venue that could seat more than double that in that seating configuration. There was no real stage show and it was dimly lit. Some small panels at the back of the stage for effects made it look like this show was geared toward playing in a club or some much smaller venue as they were lost in massive curtain behind the stage. Nobody was dancing on the floor....echoes from the cavernous venue.....poor sightlines.....high ticket price. Not the best show I've ever seen with little in the way of "spectacle"....but top dollar for tickets.

  • DCFC puts on a decent show

Death Cab for Cutie put on a good concert. There are no elaborate stages, so the concert was all about the music. If you are a fan of DCFC you will enjoy this show.

  • Death Cab has an amazing sound!

by Shadowsinplay on 2011-10-24Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Death Cab puts on an amazing show with sound quality that is beyond wicked! and Rogers Place is surprisingly intimate when you are on the floor! Definitely worth seeing these guys if you are even remotely a fan. The band really kicks each song up a notch too! more rockin than the recorded versions.

  • Death Cab For Cutie at Rogers Arena

by cdn3034 on 2011-10-23Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

a band that’s getting better with age. A rare bands you can’t help but love no matter how popular they become. The only unfortunate thing is the sound was uneven - sometimes crystal clear and other times so muddy I couldn't make out the words to songs that I know all the words to.... blame the sound man for the only a 4 star rating

death cab for cutie was surprisingly...okay. i wish they just played at a smaller venue. the place was empty! the floor was half full. they're a great band no question. unbelievable how many instruments they can all play. but the energy from the crowd was just not there.

Great band, great energy and wonderful music. Technically spot on and they played for almost 2 hours with no break! Loved it!

Great show, although it took them a while to get back on stage for the encore (also most of the fans seemed to fail to understand that you're supposed to keep clapping and cheering and making noise until after they come out.) Also, I think GM place might be a bit big for them. But then that just means you can pretty much move to whatever seats you like :) And I was on the floor, so it was awesome because I could actually see!! :)

This was, by far, the most inredible show I have ever seen. I've had the chance to see nearly all of my favorite bands over the past few months and this surpassed everything else. The set list was well chosen, the lights were astounding, their stage presence was intent and energetic. The only thing that I didn't like about this show was the opening act, and anything lacking there was more than made up for by Death Cab's performance. Music has moved me to tears before, but a performance never had. The emotion in these songs was matched by everything they put into playing them.

  • Great performance by DCFC

    by SFrank85 on 2011-08-05Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

They really gave it their all in this 25 song setlist. They had a great mix of their classics along with their newer songs from Codes and Keys.

  • Death Cab was so chill!

by mochi on 2011-08-04Molson Canadian Amp - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time I've seen this band live, and the whole night was SO chill and laid back! They didn't talk to the audience much, but the music was AWESOME!!! What made me really enjoy the show, was that the whole band played every song with pure emotion. I missed the opening act which was sad, but Death Cab definately rocked. :-)

Band was great and so was the opening band. I always appreciate a band who appreciates me back! They were so amazing and better yet were humble about it, constantly thanking everyone for being there. I was not disappointed at all!
