  • Franz Ferdinand worth dancing in the rain

by cheekymonkey on 2009-09-08Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

It was cold and wet but the concert was great. The bands energy was contagous, the park was full of people singing along and jumping up and down. Played a great set list.

  • Franz Ferdinand went above and beyond!!

by HoopsFanTim on 2009-09-08Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

On a damp and rainy evening these guys were unbelievable. Their sound was great, as a band they are extremely tight. They even managed to use their surroundings to full advantage, with steam rising off the crowd up front the minimalist light show they had set up took on a whole effect of its own. Great concert! I have never had more fun standing around in the rain.

  • Franz Ferdinand in Saskatoon

by siebs111 on 2009-09-08The Odeon Events Centre - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

I never thought I'd see Franz Ferdinand in such a small, intimate venue. The Scottish rockers put on a high energy show that had the crowd pumping. AMAZING!!

  • Franz Ferdinand is my new favorite band

by tylersan on 2009-09-08Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Franz Ferdinand performed last night in Vancouver, at the Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park. They put on a great show, had the crowd with them the whole way, and just really rocked it. Great energy, that fed off the crowd, who stood in the rain to see the lads from Glasgow. The band appreciated it and gave us a great rock show.

  • Wet & Wonderful with Franz Ferdinand

    by catsmeow820 on 2009-09-08Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Alex began the show by acknowledging that only people from Vancouver and Glasgow would stand out in the rain for a rock & roll show, at which point the rain became a downpour! However, the weather could not dampen the spirits of the audience, as the band launched into the latest single, "No You Girls." The band proceeded through their discography, being sure to include hits from all three albums. Each song flowed flawlessly, connected by conversation from the band. Previous to leaving the stage for a break, they treated us to a drum solo - performed by all four band members! Only a great band can entertain a crowd so thoroughly that the audience can forget the cold and rain of a Vancouver evening! Good on ya, guys!

  • Franz good, Odeon bad!

by Sopzman on 2009-09-07The Odeon Events Centre - SaskatoonRating: 4 out of 5

The show itself was very entertaining! Unfortunately someone in charge thought 35 degrees was a comfortable temperature for a concert. My group was very close to leaving and would have if the show hadn't been as good.

  • spectacular!!!!

by franzfaned on 2009-09-07Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Even though it rained pretty much through the whole show it didn't stop the crowd or the band. We didn't even notice the rain. The set ROCKED - all the hits from all their albums!!! I would definitly go to a Franz show again.

Even with all the rain, Franz Ferdinand came out rockin. They never missed a beat. The sound in the Malkin Bowl was amazing. The band was one of the most entertaining bands I have ever seen. They got the crowd into it and everything. Next time Franz Ferdinand comes to Vancouver, I will definitely be going!

  • Franz Ferdinand: Amazing performers!

by Dilemma on 2009-09-07Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Oh my god. It was so incredibly good! Even though it was raining for 98% of the entire show, nothing could stop my enjoyment. This is a band that I would see over and over and over again.

  • Rain or Shine....

by gkayd on 2009-09-07Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

When my friends and I found out Franz was coming to Vancouver we knew we had to go. They have been on our lists of "Concerts We Must See" for the longest amount of time, and we could hardly contain our excitement. When we arrived to the Malkin Bowl on that fateful Sunday our expectations were high, and we were not disappointed in the least. The sound was amazing, and everyone was in good spirits despite the rain. in fact, we found the rain made it even better. When the lights shined out into the crowd during "The Dark of The Matinee" and you could see all the rain that was pouring down it just added to the excitement. By the time the concert had ended we were soaking wet, but couldn't have been happier. Well done, Alex and company. Well done.

  • Franz Ferdinand Delivered!!

by KellyGL on 2009-09-07Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

The guys from Glasgow, Scotland were definitely crowd pleasers!! Die-hard fans were happy to have Winnipeg included on the band's tour. All their best hits were played to loud cheers, clapping and arm-waving; and the new songs from their latest album, "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" sounded great, too!. Everywhere, people were singing along, dancing and some girl even made her way on stage at one point!! Band members had super high energy and jumped about the stage and even climbed up the pillars to the balcony level in the old theatre! I don't think there was a bad seat in the house. The souvenirs were priced so everyone could afford some momento from the night (from $5 for a package of 4 FF badges (pinbacks) to Alex' book, Sound Bites for $10 to t-shirts at $30, coaster sets and water bottles and vinyl albums were available too!) All in all it was a great show - I'll go to see them again next time they come!! Awesome night

Even though we had to stand in the rain for hours, it was all worth it to watch this amazing band.

  • Turn it ON!!!

    by kaykay7 on 2009-09-07Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Franz put on an amazing show, despite the wet weather. They were so appreciative of the fans, which is why I love them so much. Highlights for me would have to be "Bite Hard", "40 Feet", and the amazing drumming they all did together near the end. What a show!

  • Take Me Out - anytime.

    by mcflyluva600 on 2009-09-07Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Franz Ferdinand put on a fantastic outdoor show at the Malkin Bowl last evening and appreciated all that the audience had to offer in the rain. For the past three shows that I have now seen them perform, they always know how to put on a great show. The energy throughout the concert is always there and never slows down at any point (last night they kept it up for an hour and a half without stopping, how much more awesome can you get?) Franz Ferdinand has always rocked my world, and many others too. Amazing show and can't wait to see them again, for a fourth time.

  • Frantastic, Febulous, Franz as good as ever.

by AnantPr on 2009-09-07Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

This was the 5th occasion that I was witnessing Franz Ferdinand playing live but yet they possessed the same energy and enthusiasm from when I first saw them which is what led me to love them so much since. There was never a dull moment to be had and they know just how to get the crowd moving. With their recent release of 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand', there was also the implementation of synthesizers that gave them the extra buzz and firepower to rally all the way into the night. It even seemed like the rain was a prop as it seemed to cue on just at the right times and that only made the event all the more worth the ticket price, not to mention the excellent location of Stanley Park.

  • AWESOME

  • Archdukes of Pop Rock

by brainofm on 2009-09-07Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

I'm sure the weather at Malikn Bowl reminded the band of a slightly brighter Scotland. Despite the rain, the crowd was dancing throughout an amazingly tight 90 minute set, filled with hits new and old - one of the highlights was "Take Me Out" followed by "Ulysses". They ended with the electronic induced experimental Lucid Dreams, which proved to be some interesting notes to end on. Overall, a great show that reinforced how energatic and enjoyable this band is live!
