About

Green Day redefined punk rock in a post-grunge world. Rising from the Bay Area punk scene in 1987, the band released several EPs before coalescing into their long-standing lineup of vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool. The trio shared the independent album Kerplunk in 1991 before releasing their major label debut Dookie in 1994. Behind singles like “Longview,” “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around,” which each topped the Alternative Airplay chart, Dookie reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Dookie earned Green Day three Grammy nominations, including a win for Best Alternative Music Performance, and the album continues to stand as the band’s best-selling release with over 20 million copies sold worldwide. Green Day followed with 1995’s Insomniac and 1997’s Nimrod, with the latter boasting the band’s biggest creative shift with the rare acoustic single, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” After 2000’s Warning, Green Day spent the next few years developing their first of several ambitious projects, the 2004 punk rock opera American Idiot. The album became Green Day’s first to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and it logged two Top 10 singles with “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” American Idiot garnered seven Grammy nominations and won two, including Best Rock Album. The band won the Best Rock Album Grammy again with 2009’s concept album 21st Century Breakdown. A stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway in 2010 and won two Tony Awards and a Grammy for the cast recording. Furthermore, Green Day were first-ballot inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

by Annie on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Green Day played their entire Dookie and American Idiot albums, along with some of their new songs from their Saviors Album. They used a lot of pyrotechnics and loud bangs and involved the audience in singing along! The energy from the band was insane as well as from the audience!! The space of the stage was well used and you could see every member of the band. So much crazy good energy and such a great vibe! Loved it and can’t wait for Green Day to come back!!!!!!!!

by Scott on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

First Green Day concert. I had high expectations that were exceeded. Everyone was on their feet from the start to finish. Amazing energy from the band and audience the full 2 1/2 hours without a break. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Maybe the best. I’ll be back again next opportunity. Can’t wait!!

Green day were amazing, sounded loud and really tight, The smashing pumpkins were the same, really damn good. Rancid was pleasantly surprising to see, I was not expecting to really enjoy them, but I did. The Linda Lindas were great, This is a ban to keep an eye on, they will be going places!!

  • Good

by Bicky on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

It was good really liked it! The vip part was good but confusing because they didn’t know where people were supposed to be when they went inside for early entry. The bands were good

  • To big of a venue

by Ash on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Rancid was amazing. The Smashing Pumpkins was great. Green Day was epic ( as always) Billie always involves the audience energy was very high. Great show!! The only thing I did not like was the venue was way too big. We had amazing seats and still could not see the show. Watched in the jumbo tron. Will never attend another concert at the Roger’s Centre even if it was Green Day again- my favourite band. I’ve been to 7 concerts of Green Day

  • A Great High Energy Concert

by FeistyMermaid on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The show was amazing! Green Day had great energy and made the show worth the while. It was also great to get to see Smashing Pumpkins. However, the merch purchase was a set-up in a way that we missed the Linda Lindas and part of Rancid because of poor planning. Normally, there are various locations within the venue to buy merch from the bands but at this venue, you had to stand in line at all three of the merch kiosks if you wanted merch from all of the bands. It seems like it would've been much easier for fans, if all merch was available at each kiosk.
