Jeff Beck: terrific and amazing, as expected. Johnny Depp: Abysmal, did not belong on same stage with a guitar icon like Jeff, screaming middle-aged female fans notwithstanding.
What can you say, he's amazing. From the seventies until now, the 9th time I've seen him and he get's better like a bottle of red wine. I'm not sure about the Johnny Depp collaboration...I could have lived without it.
Venue great seats great Jeff Beck amazing 78 and still has it.going on..But. he had a side kick Johnny Depp.maybe they could have played longer then an hour and a half..heard lots of grumbling as the audience was departing.
I had an absolutley great time. Jeff Beck was Amazing , Johnny Depp was totally awesome and that drummer WOW just WOW. The bass player also amazing ... I had the best time ever. Was my first concert ever.
This was a fantastic experience Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp did not disappoint
Loved the Ravi Shankar - Alla Rakah kind of musical conversation between Jeff Beck and his awesome drummer with his bassist keeping it all together. His drummer stole the show. Johnny Depp certainly got the ladies engaged and that was cool.
Without a doubt Jeff Beck remains one of the best guitarist ever. He weaves a musical experience that transports the listener both back in time to when he first appeared on the rock scene and by celebrating other giants on stage through his brilliant cover of “Little Wing” by Jimi Hendrix, right up to today. We thought the special appearance of Johnny Depp added to the overall great time. It was amazing to spend an entire night kicking it!
I flew from Manitoba to Toronto to see the show Jeff Beck is the greatest guitarist ever Will see him again
Jeff Beck & Johnny Depp we’re amazing. They played so well together. Their music soothed my soul.
Right from when the first note dropped it was amazed as to how much energy the band brought to the stage. The musicianship was outstanding with Beck's current band consisting of bassist Rhonda Smith, drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Robert Stevenson. I have seen many a great rock / pop / jazz drummer Anika is lights out! The set list covered his early works to the current with Johnny Depp who did really well with his vocals and presence. Jeff was always on my list of great guitarists to see, and his show in TO was outstanding!
I might have thought twice about buying tickets if I knew it was the Beck/Depp show - it was ONLY Beck when I bought them. The crowd at Meridian Hall was aged enough to reflect our journey with Beck since the Yardbirds. I strongly suspect less than 1% had any desire to see Depp and strongly suspect 99% would have preferred he never appeared. And the show - especially the sound!!! - was a full 5/5. At no time during Depp's songs did I wish I was still there. Out of respect, I stayed. And it wasn't that Depp added nothing to the show, he detracted from it. His handful of easy chords and limited vocal range might be enough for Jack Sparrow fans, but I'm not a fanboy. I was there to see a guitar god with whom I have grown almost equally old. To have a classless act like Depp smudge the stage served only to diminish what could/should have been a perfect night. Depp doesn't need Beck. Beck doesn't need Depp. Whatever musical legitimacy Depp gets from sharing a stage with a legend, it's at the expense of the respect I had for Beck. Seems a shame.
Excellent sound, simple but effective lighting and immaculate performances by Jeff and his band. Only disappointment was Jonny Depp who added nothing to the evening.
The opening act Desure was great. He got the crowd going. Jeff Beck is a great guitarist, but he barely spoke, didn’t introduce the band, or the songs. Johnny Depp was not out there for long enough. He pretty much was the draw for that concert and he was out there for half or less than half the amount of time. A little disappointed.
I have seen Jeff twice before, once at Massey Hall and once at Budweiser Stage, and he just keeps getting better! Johnny Depp added a lot to the latter part of it, as he and Jeff obviously had a great vibe going. He's a strong guitarist on rhythm duty, and his vocals were very good...heavy power chords at times, which I really like. Rhonda Smith was fab as usual on bass! The young drummer lady was amazing...quite a powerhouse for sure! Meridian Hall had great acoustics and it was nice to have washrooms so accessible to the mezzanine/balcony.
Loved seeing Jeff play - always been a huge fan of the world's most skilled and inventive guitarist. Dynamite rythym section too, as usual. Bang on!!
Mr Beck truly is one of a kind. Masterfully playing guitar giving my ear and brain a sonic treat. Every note had me transfixed and in awe. Long Live the Guvener !!
I flew from Manitoba to see Jeff Beck The Meridian theatre is awesome Opening act was great Jeff Beck is one of my all time guitar heroes Awesome experience
Terrible Concert … there was little from Jeff Beck’s great past and his performance almost seemed to be bursts of random guitar noise. Johnny Depp was a parody of a rockstar. Note: the drummer and base guitarist were the bright lights of the evening.
3rd time seeing Jeff Beck, have never been disappointed. This show was a little different, can’t quite get the connection with Beck and Depp. I got the vibe Johnny was out of his comfort zone? I could see Jeff touring with Satriani and Vai, a G3 tour. But, over all it is always great to see Jeff Beck live. He’s one for the record books 👍
