About

Journey is a multi-platinum-selling rock band from San Francisco, California. Originally formed by former members of Santana, the Steve Miller Band and Frumious Bandersnatch, the band’s current lineup includes guitarist and backing vocalist Neal Schon, lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, keyboardist and guitarist Jonathan Cain, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, bassist Todd Jensen and drummer Deen Castronovo. After releasing a few albums — including their self-titled 1975 debut — throughout the early ‘70s, Journey reached a new height of commercial success on the charts with Infinity (1978), Evolution (1979) and Departure (1980), all of which were certified multi-platinum in the U.S. The band earned their first chart-topping album in 1981 with Escape, which also yielded massive hits like “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Open Arms.” Over the decades, Journey has continued to release studio albums and tour the world as one of the best-selling rock acts in music history, with their most recent album, Freedom, released in 2022.

  • Journey was high energy!

by RScoobyDo on 2012-11-21MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

Arnel is high energy and his singing was great. Band played a tight show. And a big plus is everything started right on time and ended at a reasonable hour. Only slightly disappointed Night Ranger failed to show. Loverboy played the hits but age has caught up a little to the headband wearing Mike Reno.

  • Pat Benatar still has it!

by muzicluvr on 2012-10-13Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 3 out of 5

Missed Loverboy because of traffic jams, but arrived shortly after Pat Benatar took the stage. Her voice still sounds good, but started to give out near the end of their set. They still can get the crowd up on their feet! Would definitely see them as a headliner. Journey...a bit disappointing this time around. Arnel's voice just didn't have the power it did when I saw them last year at Ontario Place. He certainly has toned down the physical activity around the stage...he just seemed tired this time around. He also forgot the words to some of the songs...good thing the music was so loud, it kind of covered it up. What I found most frustrating was Neal Schon's extended guitar solos with every song. Sure, he's a good guitarist, but it started to get old when it went on and on and on....and EVERY song? please!

Was so disappointed, Could not understand a word that they sang compared to when you listen to them on the radio

  • new lead singer disappoints

by Rogersfan on 2012-10-05Copps - HamitlonRating: 1 out of 5

I felt like I was watching cruise ship karaoke and left after the first 20 mintues. Was completely turned off by the rendition of 'Faithfully' - this song is a classic. The new lead singer tried to make it his own and in my opinion failed. You can't make a classic better. Thankfully the opening acts - Loverboy and Pat Benetar were worthwhile or I'd want my money back.

  • Great time!!

Great 80's night - music did not disappoint! Brought back a lot of happy memories and songs I had forgotten about.

  • Artists were amazing

    by Kindy48 on 2012-10-01Bangor Waterfront Pavilion - BangorRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the artists, but the venue needed some work. Tickets indicated start time 7:30pm, when in acuality it started 7 pm so we and hundreds of other missed 20 minutes of opening act. Spoke to worker, repsonse given "Oh well". Other than that loved Loverboy, Pat Benatar and Journey. FABULOUS

  • Loverboy, Pat Benetar, Journey ~ loved it!

by debidy on 2012-10-01Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

Loverboy, Pat Benetar, Journey were all SO good. Pat Benetar was absolutely incredible and got the biggest encore request. Loverboy was about as good as they were days gone by! This was our first taste of Journey with their new lead singer. He had an amazing voice and sang all the old songs! It was my hubby's birthday and a great way to celebrate.

  • Loverboy and Pat Benetar were Awesome

    by Jasper11 on 2012-10-01Bangor Waterfront Pavilion - BangorRating: 5 out of 5

The evening was filled with lots of rock and roll. The weather didn't cooperate but it didn't matter. Journey was ok.

  • Loverboy;Pat Benatar and Journey rocked-awesome sh

    by Ladydi97 on 2012-09-30Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

Great concert Felt like I walked back in time to the eighties Journeys new lead singer is phenomenal Throughly enjoyed the show. Highly recommend this tour.Rock on.

  • Loverboy/Pat Benatar/Journey

by secondhandhigh on 2012-09-30Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

Loverboy started the show with an overweight Mike Reno with his shirt unbottoned too far! HAHA! They did a great set and had the fans cheering. Pat Benatar followed and sang all of her greatest hits although at 59 years old, she doesn't move around much on stage. Journey rocked the house as always! Neil Schon did O Canada as a guitar solo and Arnel Pineda ran around the stage all night. Not much new stuff was performed but they sang most of the hits for the near sold out crowd. It was a great evening of "greatest hits" from 3 of the best know acts of the 80s.

  • Journey was a big disappointment!

by fishbowl on 2012-09-30Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 3 out of 5

Loverboy was good. Pat Beneatar was absolutely amazing!!! Journey was a disapointment due to the sound, it seemed off and screechy. The new lead singer had enough passion but his voice is too high to sing Journey's songs. I really miss you Steve!!!!

  • Journey / Loverboy/Pat Benatar

by ticats on 2012-09-30Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 3 out of 5

Loverboy got things going very well , good sound & well played with lots of memories . Pat Benatar was equally as good & very entertaining with little antidotes as well as plenty of talent musically from the band . Next came Journey and for some reason the sound man decided that the voice had to be so loud it was inaudible at times . He finally got it right for the final half dozen songs which just happened to be the best known songs . Whats with the repeated same guitar solos in every song as well as the overpowering base beat on the drum kit . The lead singer has a tremendous voice though not as soft as the original but lots more enthusiasm on stage .

  • Journey was awful!

    by caprycorn48 on 2012-09-30Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 1 out of 5

Pat Benatar should have been the headliner! Her show was excellent ,entertaining, and worth the money! What a voice and what an excellent entertainer. Lover Boy, starting with a poor mix at the beginning, at least talked at and engaged the audience. Front man was very good. Songs were fair with instruments overpowering vocals. But Journey was a waste of time and money! The older members of the group although polished performers, seemed to be there just in body. No feeling or connection to the audience was shown! The young front man should have stayed home! No stage presence whatsoever! All the running, jumping and screaming could have easily been omitted to allow the audience to listen to and focus on the wonderful songs this group is known for. I know that at times his voice was close to the original front man but we have to be able to hear it above the instruments to appreciate that fact! I was stunned so many people walked out before half time , we made it a little longer than that hoping it would improve. No such luck! The songs went from one into another with the band not letting the new kid tall or connect with the audience except the few he reached for in the first row. Truly a disappointment.

  • Journey was forgettable...

    by 80sRockFan on 2012-09-30Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 2 out of 5

Loverboy came out first and really got the crowd going with a short set of thier hits. Pat Benatar came out and really got the crowd into things. Both bands brought back fond memories of growing up listening to thier music while seeming to really enjoy themselves on stage. Sound and lights were great. Journey came out and played 4-5 songs without a break. They seemed to be going through the motions. I don't recall seeing any band members cracking a smile, other than the singer. Didn't seem to be any chemistry on stage. The sound system must have come from the 80's too. It was pitchy and we couldn't understand anything that came from the singers mic. All in all, Journey was a big letdown.

  • Was disappointed with journey lead singer!

    by Mell0307 on 2012-09-29Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

We enjoyed the concert as a whole. Loverboy and Pat Benatar were wonderful! Was not expecting to enjoy Loverboy, but they definitely earned their money! I was excited for Pat Benatar so I was rewarded with my expectations! Journeys musical stylings were very well preformed, the only fly in the ointment was the lead singer. If I knew the song I understood most of what he was saying, other than that I wasn't impressed! As a whole night event though it went well!
