About

Journey is a multi-platinum-selling rock band from San Francisco, California. Originally formed by former members of Santana, the Steve Miller Band and Frumious Bandersnatch, the band’s current lineup includes guitarist and backing vocalist Neal Schon, lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, keyboardist and guitarist Jonathan Cain, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, bassist Todd Jensen and drummer Deen Castronovo. After releasing a few albums — including their self-titled 1975 debut — throughout the early ‘70s, Journey reached a new height of commercial success on the charts with Infinity (1978), Evolution (1979) and Departure (1980), all of which were certified multi-platinum in the U.S. The band earned their first chart-topping album in 1981 with Escape, which also yielded massive hits like “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Open Arms.” Over the decades, Journey has continued to release studio albums and tour the world as one of the best-selling rock acts in music history, with their most recent album, Freedom, released in 2022.

Now Journey had great light show . Guitarists. Very good there sound man Was deaf. Sound was bad very bad. Also the lead singer lot of energy. Sing poor. Blame. The sound man. • Journey was a big disappointment

by BHamilton on 2012-09-29Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 1 out of 5

The lead singer was like watching Justin Bieber sing for the Rolling Stones.....It was a big let down....how can Journey even justify letting this young kid sing lead...BAAADDDD

  • Great performance by Pat Benatar

by Anonymous on 2012-09-29Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 2 out of 5

Pat Benatar was great, Loverboy was also very good. But the main show by Journey was dissapointing. I was expecting to see Steve Perry and I saw instead a kid that is far from being a good replacement. Seemed more like an American Idol show.....

  • wow what a great triple bill

    by helsinki3 on 2012-09-29Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

coops is a small venue that brings all seats near the bands.security was fair and free with no hastle policy which i like at this venue.loverboy still and will always put the smiles on your face with steady hard rockin unforgetable tunes we love to here.pat benetar band has lost there look but musicaly play every thing you expect to hear minus the punk rocker feel.journey has not lost a moment in time they constantly play your fav tunes with out a glitch...a must see for journey fans.we even danced a little on the ffloor and had a great time at this triple bill concert.... well worth your dollar!!!don't miss journey.

  • Journey....kinda strange for me.

    by Nick709 on 2012-09-29Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 3 out of 5

Loverboy opened the show and sounded great. I forgot just how many great songs they had. Pat Benatar was next and although I'm not a big fan, that women has some pipes. Journey was the main show and the atmosphere was strange. People sat the whole show and were pretty quiet. Even big songs like "don't stop believing" should have taken on a life of its own but didn't. The lead singer was a little dramatic for me, not genuine. Although he is undoubtly a good singer, he didn't know how to engage his audience. All in all it was okay but I won't be jumping to go again.

  • Loverboy and Pat were still as good as ever !!!!!!

by birdmargie on 2012-09-29Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

I felt this show was phenominal, BUT having a real hard time adjusting to the new YOUNG lead singer for JOURNEY just doesnt seem to fit in with the rest of the band. He just seems too wild and spunky as opposed to the rest of them. He does have an amazing voice though, just cant put the two together.......

  • Gone deaf!

by tooshort on 2012-09-29Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 1 out of 5

Loverboy was great,..both the singing voice and the music were equal,. Pat Benatar's voice for some reason was being drowned out by her music. She has a fantastic powerful voice so why cover it up? Little did we know that the sound was going to get much worse. Journey's music was SO FRICKING LOUD that you couldn't understand a damn word of the singing or the talking. It was like being caught in a big echo chamber! Had to leave early due to severe ear pain that extended to my eye. The sound guys are obviously totally deaf if they think that the volume of this concert was tolerable. Had it not been for Loverboy this concert would have been a total waste of time and money!

  • Great time!!!!

    by LV2KeepFit on 2012-09-29Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

All three bands were AMAZING!!! Such a good time and what a combination of groups, brings back great memories :)

  • Journey sucked

by Mutzarella on 2012-09-29Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 3 out of 5

Pat Benatar and Spyder rocked!! We were not impressed with the sound of Journey at all! It was like they over compensated, like listening to kareoke!

  • Arnel Pineda will blow you away!!!

by Mahline on 2012-09-28Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

All the songs you want to hear and maybe never thought you see live again!!! Played from 9pm until 10:45.... straight, with the best Encore EVER!!!

  • Journey/loverboy/Pat benatar

by bananaboat on 2012-09-28Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 2 out of 5

Loverboy and Pat Benatar- the sound was great. Just like old times. For whatever reason the crew looking after Journey's blew it. The music was so distorted. It was difficult to hear what song they were playing. The instruments over powered the lead singer. What a shame.

  • Excellent

    by Browntrout1 on 2012-09-28Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

Great music for Journey fans. Only one complaint and thats that it was louder than it needed to be. With sound quality what it is today do groups really have to distort their music by being so loud. Other than that loved the show and new singer is great.

  • Loverboy, Benatar, Journey

by Orlee on 2012-09-28Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 3 out of 5

Great show by all three...Had floor seats but couldn't really see because the people all stood up and I am short, so unless I stood on a chair...(which I didn't)!

  • by jenks3333 on 2012-09-28Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

What can you say. First loverboy was great, and Pat rocked the doors off. And for Journey, in my opinion the new lead singing sounds better than Steve Perry ever did. Even the new stuff, sounded just as good if not better than the original songs. Not to mention I brought my 8 year old son to his first concert and didn't think about ear plugs. When i asked a staff member know one rested until my son had ear plugs. So a big thank you to Copps Coliseum. Great night . Thank You

  • Yeah to Loverboy, Pat Benatar, Boo to Journey

    by Heather11111111 on 2012-09-28Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 2 out of 5

I have seen Journey before - at Ontario Place a couple of years ago. It was loud, and I got myself some earplugs. I have seen other bands - lots, but the outrageous loudness drowned out what should have been the beautiful voice of Arnel Pineda. The Journey concert this time was - too many fast hard rockin songs with few slow mixed in- too many guitar solos. Boring. Get over yourself. I was getting bored with the choice of songs and I invited a friend who left early -yes. I would not go again. Even with the earplugs, the music was so intense you could not really hear the "music" - if you know what I mean. On the other hand, Loverboy and Pat Benetar were awesome. Could do without the extensive guitar solos and music that I`ve never heard.

  • great show, but overbearing security

    by livininthe80s on 2012-09-28Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

To start, Loverboy blew the roof off ,great, great show, they should have been allowed to give a encore, then Pat and her hubby rocked like they did back in the day with out slowing down so the show continued to get better, then on came Journey, wild and without age, the band new and old slipped from song to song seamlessly and we even got the national anthem played by one of the best guitarests,so the show was super, my only complant is the security were like nazis and stopped anyone wanting a half decent picture during the show, forcing you to sit in your seat..oh and the Toronto Dominion bank people were giving out wrist band to recognize people to give out prizes and seat up-grades but we seen no one doing anything, it made no sence, why promote if your not going to provide, did anyone get anything but the cheezy glasses that were given before entering Copps

  • Great show in a great venue!!

by Boredtodeath on 2012-09-28Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

Great triple threat...Loverboy was enthusiastic as ever, Pat Benatar proved again why she was the Queen of Rock in the 80s, and Journey was amazing...a little disappointed that they didn't play Send Her My Love or Who's Crying Now, but otherwise great energy and performance!! Highly recommend...

  • Big disappointment!

by NNZZ on 2012-09-28Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 2 out of 5

Concert was much too long--almost 4 hours!! Loverboy and Pat Benatar played all of their hit songs, while Journey played too many songs that were created after the Steve Perry era, which I never heard and were not hits!

  • Journey (bad karaoke)

by jackmarlin on 2012-09-28Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 1 out of 5

Attended the Journey concert in Copps Coliseum Sept 25th, Loverboy and Pat Benatar were great, by far the best of the concert. Journey on the other hand was the absolute worst I have ever seen them. We have seen journey before at Casino Rama with Steve Augierri as the lead singer and the concert was great. This edition of Journey however was horrible, we left early!!!, the sound was off, the new lead singer was screaming into the mike and bouncing around the stage with a stupid perma grin on his face almost knocking over the base guitarist more than once, felt like my ears were bleeding. This seemed more like a band grabbing the cash and running, definitely not there for the fans. I would compare this lead singer to a bad Karaoke version of Steve Perry, not close enough to sound like a Journey lead singer but definitely far enough away to not be deserving of being on the stage. Disappointed in the complete lack of professionalism!!!

  • Pat Benetar still Has It

by Benatarfan on 2012-09-28Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

The entire concert was very enjoyable !! Loverboy was good and shockingly enough, for a lot of us, Pat Benatar was and certainly should have been the HEADLINER !! The "Band" of Journey was playing away (doing a great job) and the new lead singer does in fact have an awesome voice, but unfortunately many found the "look" to be WAY OFF and absolutely by FAR ..... PAT BENETAR OWNED THE SHOW !! She still looks amazing and still holds the best voice ever of ANY female singer EVER !!!!!!
