About

Journey is a multi-platinum-selling rock band from San Francisco, California. Originally formed by former members of Santana, the Steve Miller Band and Frumious Bandersnatch, the band’s current lineup includes guitarist and backing vocalist Neal Schon, lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, keyboardist and guitarist Jonathan Cain, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, bassist Todd Jensen and drummer Deen Castronovo. After releasing a few albums — including their self-titled 1975 debut — throughout the early ‘70s, Journey reached a new height of commercial success on the charts with Infinity (1978), Evolution (1979) and Departure (1980), all of which were certified multi-platinum in the U.S. The band earned their first chart-topping album in 1981 with Escape, which also yielded massive hits like “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Open Arms.” Over the decades, Journey has continued to release studio albums and tour the world as one of the best-selling rock acts in music history, with their most recent album, Freedom, released in 2022.

  • Enjoyable show

    by Anonymous on 2011-08-15Molson amp. - Toronto,OntarioRating: 4 out of 5

We thought it was a great show. They played all there old hit songs that we went there to hear. Not a spectacular stage show, but we were not expecting one either that is why we bought lawn seat. It was a nice evening to enjoy a blast from our past.

  • Journey and Foreigner...Long Live the 80's!!!

by MaryG on 2011-08-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was an exceptional show, full of both energy and nostalgia. The bands were great and the experience up on the lawns was a blast, as always.

  • Average!!

    by Steph14 on 2011-08-13Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

We went to see them and I would be lying if I said I was totally impressed. Foreigner was great and put on a great show but Journey wasn't anything special. The main reason we went was to see Journey and their performance felt like you were sitting in a big karaoke bar. I am a huge Journey fan but I have to say I was disappointed.

  • It was nice to have done once

by Synergy on 2011-08-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

I had always been a fan of all 3 bands, so it was nice to be able to see them, but none of the three of them are bands that I would see again. Good energy level by the bands, but not amazing, and I found that they (Journey and Foreigner -- we missed Night Ranger) had very busy screens on the stage behind them but not a particularly impressive stage presence. Thanks to Glee my kids know Journey and they enjoyed the show, as did I, but I certainly wasn't blown away.

  • Amazing Journey

Arnel Pineda was the best! great voice and beautiful songs!!

  • Night Ranger, Foreigner,Journey

by BRATTT on 2011-08-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Wow - what a night! I still have to say it was all amazing. However, Foreigner stole the show. Journey would have been much clearer and more enjoyable if it was down a few octaves. It was very hard to hear the singers because the guitars were so loud. It was like a competition between singers and guitars and the singers lost. Having a lead guitar solo in every song didn't help either. But Ardel is still a great singer and has replicated Lou very well. Hats off the them all. We saw Foreigner at Casino Rama and so we had a previous viewing of them. Knew most of their songs, word for word!

  • Singer was very good, but not Steve Perry!

by skydome on 2011-08-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

My wife and I must have been the only people at the concert NOT following Journey and were unaware they had a new lead singer. Even though he gave it his best effort, we left before the end - it was too much to hear 'Don't Stop Believing' by anyone else. It didn't seem to matter that Foreigner had a new singer, who also played well. To be honest we only went to hear Steve Perry sing the few hits we knew and so needless to say left feeling very dissappointed, even duped. Will check and see if he ever plays Casino Rama again and try to get tickets.

  • Less is better

    by chooch24 on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I went to this concert hoping to hear the best of Journey. While I did hear some good stuff from them I was not impressed with the interjection of some of their rather obscure, difficult to understand, newer material. When they finally got around to playing the stuff the audience was familiar with it was entertaining. I never did understand the lead singer's preoccupation with the Canadian flag. His dialogue was difficult to hear and was repeatedly dashed with unnecessary references to TORONTO. I thought the night's better entertainment came in the form of Foreigner. They played their most successful accomplishments and they played them well. One more note I was impressed with Journey's light show!!

  • just a amazing nite

    by k61finow on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Journey and Foreigner brought back the great memories of the 70's and 80's, the old bands still can rock better than the new ones can ,thanks for an unforgetable nite.

  • Foreigner/Journey Amazing!

by Kathyp on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was on my life list to bring my kids to their first concert. So glad I picked this one. Not many bands can share a commonality between me and my 17 year old son. Journey and Foreigner did! Nothing bet the feeling of seeing my son's face experiencing live music under Toronto skyline, on a great summer evening. I will cherish this memory always.

  • Foreigner stole the show

    by fc123 on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Journey seemed a bit off compared to the last time I saw them with Arnel. Foreigner on the other hand sounded like they were right on the money!!! Night Ranger was pretty good considering I am not a big fan!

  • by kvm23 on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Awesome times! So much fun - drinking, air guitar, more drinking. Great venue, wicked bands.

  • by TheMeister on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

After raining all day, it turned out to be a beautiful summer night with an excellent show and sound quality. Unfortunately I arrived late and only heard Night Ranger's last 2 songs as I was walking to my entrance gate. Foreigner was incredible.....I was not expecting a lot from them, but they blew me away! They sounded amazing and played nothing but their hits.....just like listening to Q107 on a Saturday afternoon....lol Journey did a decent job and all the favourite songs were played, but they just didn't sound as tight and together as Foreigner did.

  • Overall a GREAT show!

by Julilee on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I took our 5 kids to see these shows. Although we were most excited to see Journey, Night Ranger did a great job and Foreigner was just amazing. Foreigner had the whole audience involved right from the start and played all the classics that we were waiting to hear. Journey really could have got the crowd more involved earlier on, everyone really only got into it once they played the favourites towards the end. Love the fact that these bands keep it family friendly and we can take the whole family to see the shows.

  • Journey Foreigner Night Ranger Concert Was A Blast

by KatieKoolKat on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I absolutely enjoyed the concert!!! The songs brought back so many teenage memories. The performers were really excellent, and all three bands really entertained the audience. The lead singers of Foreigner and Journey certainly were certainly not intimidated by the audience, and left the stage to interact with the audience. Unforgettable experience!

  • Foreigner Ruled

by dsweete on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Well all three bands gave a great performance. Night Ranger as the opening band was full of energy and tried their level best to get the half full stands going. Certainly when Sister Christian hit the ones who were there were rocking. Foreigner came on and provided a great set to an almost packed house. The band was tight and stuck to the hits. No long solos, no new songs just rock and roll. The crowd was dancing in the aisles. Journey kicked their set off with a bang, great first song then they lost steam. Too many long guitar solos, two new songs that were good but didn't get the audience going. They butchered a couple of classics with the long meandering solos but then finished strong. From Don't Stop Believing until the last encore Lovin Touchin Squeezin they recaptured the crowd and the atmosphere.

  • Journey with Foreigner and Night Ranger

by MSGRIZZ on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Foreigner was as good as ever, just as i would expect and would go see them again. Maybe they should have been the Headliner. As for Journey, the old music is the best, not as happy with the newer stuff. It also looked like they where running low on energy near the end of the set and the singing showed that. The newest member is very good at the songs but at time it sounded as if one of the Guitars was out of tune and drowned out the singer. (made me winch) Over all it was a good night out.

  • by Anonymous on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

amazing show, cant wait to see you guys again !!!!

  • Journey and Friends

by SweetLou on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Show was really good .I had VIP tickets so I met Night Ranger , who were very congenial with the VIP guests and put on a great show as well. Both Foreigner and Journey were great , because of the VIP tickets I had front stage seats and could see the colour of the performers eyes .Front row always beats back row seating.

  • Night Ranger/Foreigner/Journey - OUT of this world

    by SRobb47 on 2011-08-11Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Was an awesome experience right from the get go. The crappy weather we had in the morning, gave way to a wonderful afternoon and evening. Sun came out and the entire crowd was in a fantastic mood. Didn't sit down for the whole Journey set. Sound was good, band enthusiasm was great. Just wish when there is a sell out crowd, that you might install some port a potty's to make bathroom breaks a little quicker.
