  • not good

by Neilsformerbuddy on 2012-11-13Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

hi Neil instead of huddling with your bandmates and extending all of your songs with ridiculously loud and overextended guitar solos, how bout playing something that your paying fans might want to hear. also, might consider playing your harmonica. another tip, for your encore, try playing a song that people have heard before. when crowd is bored, they are listless. when you played a favourite the crowd responded - you might consider this for future events musicians complain that no one buys music anymore. so, they go on tour. charge lots of money for tickets. START PLAYING SOME SONGS THAT PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR IF YOU EXPECT TOP DOLLAR FOR TICKETS

  • Neil Young was terrible

by centlea on 2012-11-13Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

Was so disappointed in this concert. Had been told that he doesn't put on a good concert so wasn't expecting too much. Glad that he lived up to what I'd heard :( Would never ever recommend anyone to waste their money on seeing him. Managed to play only 2 1/2 songs for what he's known to playing.

  • Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

    by Guinness44 on 2012-11-13Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

Most of the songs were at least 15 minutes long. That was not the case in other four times I've seen him. I hate that. I've got everything he has ever recorded.

  • Neil Young rocked beyond all reason

Indescribable. Dream come true. Excellent show and sound

  • concert was disappointing

by rawi on 2012-11-13Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

Neil didn't sing many songs. There were too many instrumental solos including a guitar solo that must have been 30 minutes long.

  • Bored out my MIND

    by Van2010 on 2012-11-13Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Neil stil has a lot of energy for some serios rock and roll. I wish he played more of his old acoustic songs.

  • not for everyone

by bouncy on 2012-11-12rogers arena - vancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Went to Mr.Young's concert last night in Vancouver. Come back with a mix feeling. First of all, Rust never sleep, the live version, is my all time favorite, when Young choose to go down the same path last night, I was so surprised and excited. However, after a few songs filled with lengthy loud and heavily distorted guitar sound, plus below the average sound quality in the stadium, everyone seemed losing the momentum. People around me were all mid 50-60, probably all grew up with his music, it isn't too difficult to tell not everyone still has the "fire" and "anger" in their belly anymore. At one point, the loud distorted guitar sound became crowd chaser, quite a few ended up leaving early in my section, By saying that, I am so delighted to see Young is still the same, same voice, same kind of energy but an older version. I enjoyed the concert, for most part. If you have the ticket, do prepare to see a 2012 version rust never sleep.

  • Not the Neal Young I know

This was the worst concert I've ever attended. Stay away from this concert.

  • Stellar!

by Bodine on 2012-10-22Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

Solid, old school, rock n' roll guitar jam sessions... played with SOUL. Hard to beat. The only complaint would be due to almost every song finishing with long (gradually diminishing) guitar ramblings, this did not allow for at least 3-4 more classic tunes we could have heard... such as Down by the River and Cowgirl in the Sand, which were left in the guitar case this evening. A lot of the crowd was losing momentum with each of these endings. Perhaps only every second or third song with such epilogues would make for an even more brilliant show, and this show was brilliant. Overheard in the Crowd: "Forget Soundgarden, Alice in Chains AND Pearl Jam; Neil and Crazy Horse are the greatest grunge band of all time." Simply put... one of the greatest artists in the history of rock n' roll putting on an awesome concert, on a beautiful, warm, southern California evening. Classic.

  • I heart Neil Young.

I cannot believe I got to see Neil Young! That man just shreds his guitar. What an amazing concert. If he ever comes back to Edmonton I will surely go again.

  • Neil Young - spiritual event

    by mcd1 on 2011-05-13Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I loved the concert. I was in tears with his rendition of Helpless. Of course, I loved the old stuff the best but enjoyed some of the new stuff too. What sound, voice was very strong, audience was respectful.

  • buzz kill

    by mathu75 on 2011-05-13Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Neil was great, but the fact that there was filming and recording going on really impacted the vibe in a negative way. The audience was asked up front to only applaud between songs and ushers were really coming down on people who took their phones out of their pockets. It was the exact opposite of how you should feel when at a Neil Young concert. It felt contrived and controlled

Any true Neil fan will be blown away, only downside is being stuck behind clowns that need to try and sing along.

Neil Young was incredible! I can't wait for the DVD release

  • Neil Young - disappointing

    by CHACHA06 on 2011-05-12Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

Considering the venue - we were expecting something a little more quiet - hoping for Neil sitting on a chair with his acoustic guitar or in front of the piano doing a bunch of his classic great songs. - He started out this way - but shortly went into his new CD LeNoise - and that CD is appropriately named. He only did a couple of his classics - Very Disappointed in the show - I don't believe that we were the only disappointed fans. Won't put the money out again for Neil - I have seen him numerous times - but this time was not good!

  • What ever happened to good manners?

    by new2thehood on 2011-05-12Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I have never seen Neil Young perform live before and was looking forward to seeing this icon of rock. Mr. Young did not disappoint. Where else will you get almost 2 hours from an established star? What I found very disappointing was the behaviour of some of the other members of the audience. The couple in front of me seemed intent on chatting, making out and generally behaving as if they were watching television in their living room. When I asked them to please be quiet, they were incensed!! I also found the constant stream of audience members coming and going during songs to be very distracting, especially since I was a couple of rows in front of the doors, so the lighting changed every time the door opened. If people are drinking so much that they have to relieve themselves multiple times during an hour and a half concert, perhaps Massey Hall should reconsider its alcohol policy.

Unable to explain the beauty that is the music played live by Uncle Neil.
