  • Neil Young 100% on as always

by ciddurban on 2010-07-28Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

This was a typical Neil young show. Well paced and engaging. You never know what to expect with him and he did not fail to disappoint. It must have been a tough show for him with the death of Ben Keith. I imagine he wished to be home but you would never have known from his performance. Please come back soon!

The guy still rocks like in the seventies!!! Concert could have gone all night and still been too short.

  • What a cash grab!

by BlushinBlonde on 2010-07-28Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 1 out of 5

When you're on a solo tour and charging double any other full band shows charge, you better deliver. This show was overpriced, ego inflated and poor quality. Very, very disappointed.

An amazing one man show as only the great Neil Young could provide. I was absolutely enthralled!

  • sold out monday the 26

ah neil the tunes you played was like your unplugged album or your live at massey hall album in 1971, you rocked that show, it was mello and had me real relaxed but at the end of every song the crowd went nuts, winnipeg loves our home town hero, only thing i wish for at the concert was a little more talking form you, like addressing the crowd or just talking ofr a bit, i miss that but overall neil young is a great entertainer and preformer

  • Good, but not great

by Winnipeggers on 2010-07-27Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

Saw Neil in Winnipeg last night and while the performanace was good and he sounded very good, there was absolutely no interatino with the crowd. Considering he spent his formative years in Winnipeg, one would think he might say something (anything) about this city, but alas, he could have been playing anywhere last night based on his very minimal comments to the assembled throngs.

  • Neil Young Rocks!

by NeilYoungfan on 2010-07-27Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was everything that the Dylan concert should have been but wasn't. There is something magical about a performer on stage alone with no backup band and only his instruments (OK, and some high tech electronics). Youngs new works are, as always, introspective and topical. His performance of his classic songs was, however, the highlight of he concert. His voice is clear and hasn't lost any of the edge that has defined him as a unique individual. Long may you run!

  • Neil's New Stuff

    by jp17 on 2010-07-27Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 3 out of 5

The sound was great. Neil's stage presence was predictably mezmorizing. The set list unfortunately featured about 50% new material. The show was not worth the $275 ticket.

  • Left Me Wanting More............

by Ille on 2010-07-27Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

I absolutely loved the solo performance. Neil is a genious who plays by his chosen instrument and beat...so captivating he possesses the energy to hold one's full attention undivided. My heart was EXTREMELY happy to hear HELPLESS this time around...but I missed Heart of Gold & Cowgirl in the Sand but appreciated the new material. When I was in Vancouver in May 2009 I bought myself a Ruby Gold ring just because. Hope Neil enjoys his stay in Winnipeg, WELCOME BACK- KEEP ROCKING IN THE FREE WORLD AND GOD BLESS THOSE THAT STILL STRUGGLE! Lynn

  • Neil Young at the Jub July 23/2010

by harleychancenibs on 2010-07-27Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Neil Young is a bright shining star. His human form fills the stage and his energy spills out into the audience. It was my great honor to be in the audience for his show on July 23/2010. From the opening notes of My My Hey Hey to the two encore songs he gifted us (Old Man, Walk With Me) my heart soared. It is one of those life time memories for me. Thank you Neil Young for coming to Edmonton, to the lovely, quaint, intimate Jubilee and thank you for singing all for me.

The sound was good in the Mb Concert Hall. Would have liked to hear more Oldies.

  • Neil Young at Edmonton's Jube - Amazing!

by forza on 2010-07-27Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I was regretting my decision to buy such an expensive ticket but am now not looking back. I have seen him twice before in larger venues with a full band, but this time, it was worth every penny spent! From the minute Neil came onto the stage, he 'held court'. It was hard to take your eyes off of him. With one person/one instrument, he amazed with his expertize. I have always been a fan and loved his songs, but never really fully understood what a fantastic musician he is. On his own is definitely the way to see him. The only drawback was some of the new songs. Ideally, I would love to see him sit down with his acoustic and play all of his old stuff - there were so many songs on Friday night that I wished he had played. But, I guess it is only reasonable that he wants to promote the new stuff, too. Thanks, Neil, for putting on such a great show in a smaller venue. It is what I've been hoping for for years!

  • Music was great- Concert lacked

    by Manitoba8 on 2010-07-27Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 3 out of 5

First off, Neil Young's music stands the test of time. Talented is not enought to describe him. The music couldn't have been better. The issue I had was with the high ticket prices, only having him on stage for an hour and fifteen minutes was not nearly enough. Having a concert in a venue like that was to initiate an intimate feeling- which could have happened if Neil addressed his adoring audience. If you were to say "that's Neil, a shy, professional, introvert" - then don't have an encore for your ego! We all love you (and was showed by the cheers and screams!)!

  • neil young was a little disapointing

    by Chris100 on 2010-07-27Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 3 out of 5

We had the best seats in the house 550.00 worth and was hoping to hear a " live at Massy hall " type performance. The show was really good, but, my fiance and I were left a little disapointed. No acknowledgment to the crowd about being back in the PEG and he left out some of the songs people really wanted to hear. "harvest moon, rockin in the free world etc.

  • Neil is the man!

by falstooth on 2010-07-27Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

This was probably the best show I've ever seen! Not only was Neil able to create an amazing sound from his instruments, it was even better due to the great acoustics and intimate atmosphere of the concert hall! His choice in songs was also great!

  • Neil Young

by DeBe on 2010-07-27Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

The first of his two concerts back in Winnipeg was superb. I loved the sound of his acoustic guitar and the his lyrical voice. I loved the whole "Mark Twain" look that he had going on, his is truly one of the story tellers. Well worth the cost. His keyboard playing was fun and special. My only regret of the whole night...it would have been amazing if he had stuck to strictly acoustic guitar. No matter what though, his music played inside my head all night long. Neil is right...rock and roll will never die!

Amazing. Unbelievably intimate and engaging. More than a rock show. Neil Young's Twisted Road tour is an amazing experience.

  • A Living Canadian Legend

by BeeCee on 2010-07-26Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Although the cost was a little steep for tickets the show made me forget how much I paid to see him. He put on a great show. No complaints. It's no surprise he's entertained for as long as he has with little regard for what the critics think. It's second nature to him.

  • Neil Young was Amazing

by SisterGoldenHair on 2010-07-26Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing show. I have seen him a couple of times at the Saddledome and thought he was great. The Jubilee was the perfect setting for this unique performance. I felt he was playing just for me. If he ever does this type of show again...I'll be there.
