    Super Awesome but TERRIBLE venue

by Jenn on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The game itself was awesome! I could see awesome at the highest point in the stadium compared to my friends who were in the lower bowl. The entertainment in the intermissions was great! Wish Nickelback had the full 20 minutes instead of like 12 minutes. The venue though, Commonwealth Stadium, SUCKS. Despite leaving early, we missed a good chunk of first period due to extremely long lines, slow and terrible security checks. Getting to a washroom resulted in me missing the whole second period, as the lines are terrible, and getting to the line is even worse, humans literally squished up in every direction and we aren't even moving. No organization of lines for concession, washrooms or merch results in the whole venue being plugged up and getting to anything impossible. It actually ruined my experience. I would go to another Heritage Classic, but not at Commonwealth, I actually will never attend anything at Commonwealth again. Low rating reflects terrible choice for venue, not the game or entertainment itself.

    Underwhelming

by Andrewo’reilly on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Hey, I enjoyed the experience. However, I felt the event was designed for television not for the viewers at the game. From the entertainment/sound quality of the nickel back concert all the way to the vendor set up / lack of staff at commonwealth.

Been there done that (was at the 2003 game)

by Partinrb on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The outdoor game was an experience but probably wouldn't go again, it was rather pricey (for second deck seats) and just not the same experience as Rogers Place. Too many fans going up & down the isles blocking view of the game. Nickleback was on opposite side of stadium so was only visible on the big screen, which was some distance away.

    Heritage Classic

by Baypoker on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

From a TV perspective, it was a fabulous event. From a fans experience, it left a lot to be desired. Not enough transit for a crowd of this size, terrible line-ups to get in, bag policy was not enforced consistently. We were told to leave our bag as we watch people with backpacks walk in. Washroom line-ups, concession line-ups, cash only stands (who carries cash anymore) were unacceptably long. Overall a poor delivery from the seats back. Save your money next time one of these shows up in your city. Watch it on TV. You'll have a better experience.

Great game - terrible people management

by Matt Wilks on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The game was incredible as well as the atmosphere. I was shocked that the event staff abandoned helping move people through the concourse. It was incredibly scary and unsafe to have what happened on the concourse with people being stuck for 30+ mins and then people pushing. It was very disappointing that this was the start of the Heritage Classic. It is something that can and should be managed.

    Great Experience

by Grayzed on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

It doesn’t get much better than watching McDavid playing on the ODR in Edmonton.

Great Atmosphere - Commonwealth needs major updates...

by Marie on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Everything was fantastic, except for being literally trapped like a sardine for about 40 mins on the main concourse. As a smaller woman, it was extremely stressful, and I almost had a full blown panic attack. There were people starting to push, and felt very mob mentality like. I don't understand how that many people can be stuck in one spot for that long. What if there was an emergency?! Where were the workers to direct traffic etc?? I am a massive hockey fan, and loved the day/night, however this put a MAJOR damper on the entire day. We almost left after that, in case we had to deal with that again. But thank you to the friendly staff we encountered, and the great event you put on.

    Fun afternoon, but with drawbacks

by Robo on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

If you didn't want concessions or the bathroom and didn't enter in the Northend it was fun. We were lucky we ate and drank before the game. Others were not. Edmonton needs to figure it out. We used to be better. I have been to several other sporting events . They know how to get people in, our, fed, watered, and have additional porta potties for big events. Put up some temp fences at the exits , create spaces for concessions , food trucks , porta potties and rent extra metal detectors. It ain't rocket science.

    Horrible

by John on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Line ups to the washrooms were 20min, drinks were 20min, maybe saw 15min of the game. Did not attempt food. The stadium usually allows clear plastic bags due to being cold out. Brought some and had to empty out gloves and toques cause the NHL did not allow it. Pick it up next time but definitely will not go again.

Interesting afternoon - glad I went.

by Bill on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

It was an ineresting experience, and a great hockey game - which I could actually see better than I thought I would. And as an Oiler season ticket holder - I loved the game result. The physical aspect of getting in, going through security, entering an imovable concourse, seeing no directions or assistance to get the crowd moving, and seeing one usher all afternoon - in the third period - was totally baffling and frustraing. That was certainly not the first sold out event there - but it certainly looked like it was. Been there - done that - glad I went - but I would never go to another . . . simply becaue of the stadium experience.

    The Heritage Classic

by R3 on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The event was very well planned. Entertainment was excellent between periods and during breaks. The game itself was very enjoyable if you were an Oilers fan.

    Great Event.

by Heritage Fan. on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The Heritage Classic was a great event. However, I give this event a failing grade when it came to how the stadium was laid out for moving fans and spectators around the stadium. The merchandise tents should not have been inside and placed in very poor locations. They literally plugged the walking lanes and caused massive grid lock that caused people to miss some of the events. Bathrooms and concession sales were too small and not enough. The game should have been played in the early afternoon, because it was at 5:00pm everyone came to eat and have a drink but couldn't because of the grid lock!! Nickelback and intermissions were excellent!!

    Excellent event

by Neetz on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

While we enjoyed the event and all the entertainment surrounding it, the venue needs to improve their services. The availability of food/beverages are not appropriately matched to the number of tickets sold.

    Great Heritage Classic Experience

Lots going on pregame. Early arrival is a must when you attend a sold out event. Game was great. Crowd vibe too.

    Great Atmosphere

by J9 on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Going to the Heritage Classic was an excllent date night. We used the park and ride srevice which was excellent. We loved the roll-out of the Canada flag done by the military and the fly over the of jets from Cold Lake. The Indigneous drumming and fiddling were very weel done. Nickelback was great as well. The Oilers won and put on a great show. The crowd responded well and the atmosphere was electric. I would not sit in section KK again though. Paid extra for those lower bowl seats and the big screen was behind us and we had trouble seeing the ice. The flow of foot traffic to that section was back logged as people were lined up for merchandise which afftected our ability to get seated. At full capacity there needs to be someone selling drinks in each section as there were long long line-ups for food and drinks so we didnt buy anything. Overall we loved the event and it was well done. Sadly, if we have to wait another 20 years for this event to be held again in Edmonton we will be too old to attend so we were very grateful for the experience.

    Over crowded and poor view

by DKH on 2023-11-01Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Lines and waits were way too long for bathrooms and food with waits of over 20 minutes in each. The view for action was not good and most of the time we spent looking at the big screen to follow action. Section W row 9
