Founded in Melbourne, Australia in 1983, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are one of the most critically acclaimed post-punk bands of the last 30 years. Following the end of their previous group, the Birthday Party, singer-songwriter Cave and drummer Mick Harvey began the Bad Seeds. Initially joined by Barry Adamson on bass and Blixa Bargeld on guitar, the band has seen a number of personnel changes over the years with the one constant being the creative force of Cave himself.
Exploring the themes of love and religion, the band’s debut album, From Her to Eternity, was released in 1984. Featuring a cover of Elvis Presley’s classic, “In the Ghetto,” presented in the band’s inimitable style, the record showcased the deep impact of Cave’s baritone voice. Quickly following second album, The Firstborn is Dead, third release Kicking Against the Pricks saw the band first find fame in the UK and Ireland. Critics also began to sit up and take notice, with Cave’s prose-like approach to songwriting bringing welcome comparisons with Leonard Cohen. This narrative style was seen again on 1986’s Your Funeral…My Trial, before the beginning of a two year break from recording for the band.
Four more albums were released in the early ‘90s in addition to the band making a range of high-profile US festival appearances. The album Murder Ballads, released in 1996, became a critical success for the Bad Seeds and saw songwriter Cave explore two of his favorite themes: death and violence. The album featured vocals from Kylie Minogue on the single, “Where the Wild Roses Grow,” and the success of the song helped make Murder Ballads the band’s best -selling album so far. 1998 saw the release of No More Shall We Part, with further albums Nocturama and Abbatoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus being released in the early ‘00s.
Following a number of sell out tour dates in 2005 and 2006, Nick Cave’s musical achievements and creative contribution saw him inducted into Australia’s ARIA Hall of Fame. Not for the first time in his career, Cave then moved from music to movies, writing both the screenplay and soundtrack for John Hillcoat’s 2012 film, Lawless. Early 2013 saw the release of Push the Sky Away; the band’s first output in nearly five years, it was widely acclaimed by fans and critics alike.

This was the first time I had seen Nick Cave, and it was one of the best concert experiences I've had in a long time. The way he engaged the audience brought the performance to another level, and the band was amazing.
Never been to this venue before but amazing sound and even from the upper level good night lines to the stage. And of course Nick and the band gave it all
We left the show speechless. Possibly the best of many performances I have seen in recent years. Just Brilliant. Go see it while you can.
I’ve seen Nick many times over the last 15 years and i have to say that this current tour is A-mazing!!! The band is tight, Nick has the energy of a 30 year old on stage and his usual charismatic prestance was through the roof! Kudos to the Seeds, Nick and the production team. Come back soon!

Even after seeing Nick 5 times (solo, with Warren or with the BSs) - this was hands down the most memorable concert ever. As Nick ages - his art is being taken to another level.
Nick Cave is a generational talent and a living legend. It was an honour and privilege to witness him in a live setting. There are not enough words or accolades that I could bestow upon him that would do him justice. Just embrace and soak in his greatness.
Nice Cave delivered. His presence is so energetic and commanding. He stirs all emotions from the audience and The Bad Seeds are one of the most competent bands, that includes the immense talent of Warren Ellis and Colin Greenwood (Radiohead). I leaned over during the show and said, “he’s the world’s pre-eminent rock and roll preacher.” The other thing I remarked on was how many renowned Canadian musicians were in the audience at the Toronto show. You always know you’re seeing an artist of influence when you’re surrounded by so many you admire and have seen evolve as artists in their own right over the years. It was a magical performance.
I have watched Nick and the seeds grow for almost 30 years now, been to the shows along the way, Im impressed and proud of the man, performer he has become, he did not let me down. I admire the sensitive side of Mr Cave as much as the "Birthday Party"boy side, a well rounded performer but moreso a brilliant artist and human being, as long as Mr Cave, Mr Ellis and the boys are still around "God is in the house " I pray he continues on his path of humility and righteousness in his art. Fourth time seeing Cave. The best one yet! Band on-point. Warren was Warren which is awesome! Back-up singers angelic and high energy. Cave pierced our souls. Mic drop!
This show was absolutely incredible. I think it was the best concert I have ever been to. The energy of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds was incredible. I really enjoyed how the set list had songs from many of their albums. I was fortunate enough to have third row centre on the floor and at one point he was singing right in front of me in the audience. It is a show and an experience I will never forget.
Sad and beautiful and loud, energetic and quietly tender. The rainbow of Nick Cave's career. Something for everyone. Never disappoints. Two and a half hours of bliss!
10,000 diehards follow into the Cave to hear the mesmerizing man from his pulpit.An engaging and intimate performance, OUR first seeing Nick live and definetly not our last.The goers hung on for two and half hours , every syllable, statement and sound conveyed with striking clarity. Backed by The Bad Seeds, a super tight group of ragtag musicians. A combo sound of Tom Waits,Frank Zappa and Hendrix, blew all the Lucky Guests away. Nick Cave is charismatic and evangelical as he holds his gathering in the palm of his Red Right Hand. This was an in your face show. A super compelling performer who really needs to be on your bucket list. There really is no other act on the plateau occupied by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Brilliant and engaging as always. Was worried about bigger venue, sound was still good (Scotiabank Centre), but I still love the superior Massey Hall, more intimate.
It was a great show although he is more suited to smaller venues like Massey Hall . A singular talent there is no one like him at times melodic then discordant often in the same song.
I flew to Vancouver to see this show after catching the Push The Sky Away tour in Calgary at the Jubilee a couple years ago and once again Mr Cave and the Bad Seeds deliver the goods. In an era of over packaged Lip synced bullshit this is the real deal visceral rock and roll at its best. Not as great as the last time but that falls on the current Skeleton Key tour as its pretty grim stuff. Still the gems from previous album were there don't think we got Mermaids but these lads have a hell of a catalog to work with and they worked through it in top form.Beautiful Creatures is a great retrospective that was released a few months ago.I cannot recommend anyone given the chance to catch these gentlemen to hesitate in the slightest splurge for the good seats as Nick likes to take wee strolls on the chairs as he performs.
This was the 4th time I have had the pleasure to see Nick Cave live , and it never fails to live up to the excitement for waiting for that moment. The Bad Seed were as tight and chaotic as they could have possibly been . It was outstand from start to finish.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds were touching, exposed, like something you've never experienced before even though I've seen them since 1993. A MUST!
