  • Social Distortion - July 22nd, 2009

by PunkyDevine on 2009-07-23Edmonton Event Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Social Distortion remain forever young. They are talented performers that attract and can play to crowds from 18 to 60 which was the age span of the crowd. Talent is ageless.

  • SOCIAL DISTORTION....are they getting even better?

by TIKIVILLE on 2009-07-23Edmonton Event Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a fan ,I guess you could say... for some 25 plus years and with this in mind I would say that last nights show was as good ( better if thats possible) than I have ever seen them play.New material and some of the oldies for all the super fans in the room Social Distortion continues to fill a spot in many peoples hearts as the underdogs that plow through the medium of music like its sole creators ,the sold out crowd knew the words and melodies and there was no reason I could see, that anybody could feel that after 30 years Mike Ness has lost any steam or passion for the musical genre he helped to create.

  • Social Distortion really rocked!

From the moment they took the stage Social D rocked the joint. The encore was as long as the entire concert. Excellent show!

  • Still rockin as hard as ever!!

by Gheeter on 2009-07-23Edmonton Event Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Mike Ness is still rockin as hard as he ever has, it was a great setlist with a mix of new and old and a couple of covers thrown in there, one of them being a totally random cover of Chuck Berry's Mabeline. I've loved Social D for over 10 years and this was show was everything I thought it would be. Amazing Show

  • Mike Ness still has it....

  • As Great As Always

by Shantastic on 2009-07-23EEC - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

The Strangers should be huge soon - their California punk sound is a lot like Pennywise - very melodic and they have great voices. They played a great set and are just super nice guys. BUY THEIR STUFF! All I will say about Civet is "I'm not worthy"! Those girls KILLED it out there! They're unfreakingbelieveable - the 4 of them are a force to be reckoned with. Buy their stuff too ;) OMG - Social D...30 years and they just keep getting more amazing!! They still have the same incredible energy, and had the crowd begging for more as they played old faves mixed with their new stuff - which is equally good. Truly incredible - I feel privileged to have been there - there is a reason their shows sell out every time...

  • Social Distortion and guests

    by Z3r0 on 2009-07-23Edmonton Event Centre - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Opening acts were The Strangers and Civet. The strangers put on a solid performance and really worked the crowd up unfortunately they were followed by civet who had moments that sounded great but the majority of the show the sound was off and the vocals were getting greatly overshadowed by the instruments being turned too high by the sound tech. When the band every one came to see finally hit the stage they didn't disappoint, a solid set list of new and older Social Distortion, great sound even in an acoustically challenged Edmonton event center, and Mike Ness providing solid crowd interaction.

  • Social Distortion Plays A Tight Show

by Slaney on 2009-07-23Edmonton Event Centre - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

This concert was very good, the set list included all the old favorites including Bad Luck, Reach For The Sky, Ring Of Fire, and of course they closed it out with the ever classic Story Of My Life. The sound was good and once the band got into it they really put forth a solid effort. Definitely worth mentioning that the opening act Civet, was an excellent show. I'll be looking for more from them very soon. On top of a great sound and some natural talent, theyre also very gorgeous women.

  • Another wicked show at The Commodore

  • Social D...30 years of indy ass kicking music!!

by kashee on 2009-07-21Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

What can I say, they have been a success for 30 years on the independant scene for a reason. They are an amazing band to see live, tight band , awesome sound. I've never seen anyone change guitars so many times. The talent was obvious, but also evident in all members. The great thing too was to see ALL AGES out at the show. There were young kids to a 50 year old couple dancing up a storm! Great crowd! So glad that I went.

  • A "must see live" band

what a great show! mike ness and the rest of social distortion really know how to rock a crowd. one of the best concerts i;'ve been to. and i'm not just saying that cause i got both a guitar pick and a drumstick. social D kicks ass. good mix of ages in the crowd too. "good to see some survivors" commodore ballroom is real kick ass venue. especially for a punk rock show. first time there and was not dissapointed at all!

Great....loved Social D! The strangers were good openers, got you in the Social D mood....Civet made you really wish social d was on already. Plenty of sound and energy but not much for vocals. Awesome venue!!!!!! The Commadore is fantastic ........And social D....better than I imagined. We flew from the Yukon to be there and it rocked.

  • Mike Ness You Rockin' Sexy Beast!!!!!

by TimeBandit on 2009-07-20Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Social Distortion at the Commodore on Saturday, July 18th was THE hottest concert of the year. Mike Ness is one rockin' sexy beast of a frontman and the band kicked it hard all night. They came out swinging and just kept on going. Ness was unstoppable and had the crowd completely in the palm of his hand. Everyone was on their feet, singing, yelling, jumping and dancing around like maniacs. The band was tight and that boy can sing! I was so excited I thought I might pee my pants. (OK that's an exagerration but these guys were AMAZING!)
