About

Sting is a 17-time Grammy-winning artist and a founding member of the pioneering new wave band The Police. Born in Wallsend, England, Gordon Sumner, a.k.a. Sting, became one of the best-selling artists of all-time as the bassist and frontman of The Police. The band released five studio albums and six Top 10 singles, including the Sting-penned No. 1 hit “Every Breath You Take,” before disbanding in 1986. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, and their 2008 reunion tour was the third highest-grossing tour of the ’00s. Since releasing his 1985 solo debut The Dream of the Blue Turtles, Sting has been recognized with a British CBE and an Emmy, featured at the Kennedy Center Honors and inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He has also received four Oscar nominations, and his 2014 Broadway musical The Last Ship, which was inspired by his childhood and featured music and lyrics by Sting, was nominated for two Tony Awards. A constant experimenter of genres including jazz, pop, classical and world music, Sting won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2019 with Shaggy for their 2018 collaborative album 44/876.

Fabulous show. Fabulous venue. Expensive beer. (Gouging)

  • Good show - not the best though - Sting still awesome

by Piano guy on 2024-09-28Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

I’ve even Sting so many times. Last year - with the full band - the how was absolutely incredible. This time with the 3-piece, was still good, musical, but not as great as the others. Not as dynamic, fun, Full scope of the music. It got a little ‘same-ey’…definitely big lul mid set. Still love seeing sting as always but, I’ve seen a lot better shows…

  • STING 3.0

    by 8easekid on 2024-09-28Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I'm just glad I managed to snag a ticket for Sting's last show in Toronto. Quite an amazing show with Sting still as good as he was back in the day. And having the show at Massey Hall made all the more sense. Sting played all the favorites from his time with the Police as well as his solo stuff. He's a class act and I'm just glad to I got a chance to see this legend.

  • Amazing concert!!

by Kino on 2024-09-27Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Sting killed it. Was so interactive with the crowd. Played hit after hit. The sound was perfectly balanced and full from only a 3 pc band. He played as if it was his first concert tour. Really blown away.

  • Best concert ever

Correction to my review - Should say Sting never fails to please ! (Not disappoint)

  • Best concert ever !

by Les on 2024-09-27Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Sting never fails to disappoint and covered his entire career with both his Police hits and solo material. Well worth it and especially in a small venue.

  • Almost Great Show

by StingWatchers on 2024-09-27Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

We have seen Sting 10 + times and he never disappoints. The Massey Hall Venue also provides an exception atmosphere. We were surprised that there was an opening act ELU .... Although some people enjoyed this, we are not Jazz fans and really did not like sitting through ELU's act. Perhaps any opening act shout be advertised so people could decide to wait until the main act is ready to go onstage.

  • Timeless Perfection

by DaveyM on 2024-09-26Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This man makes it all look so effortless and easy. A consummate professional with a voice that just has staying power, Sting reinvents his sound each time I see him and then takes us down memory lane in the best way ever. I first say him at the Police Picnic in the early 80’s and can hardly believe he can rock even better that ever now! What an EPIC show ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Sting Delivers a Mesmerizing Night at Massey Hall

by Grace — the best concert going ever!!!! on 2024-09-25Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

STING is like a bottle of wine. He just gets better with age. Sunday night’s show at Massey Hall was like being in the middle of the most beautiful and intoxicating vineyard!! Such an epic night!! Every song was pure genius!! His lyrics still resonate strongly in the hearts of every fan. His songs are timeless and relevant to what is happening in the world today. His voice, powerful, and strong as ever. The opening act, jazz pianist, ELEW, set the tone for an extraordinary night of music. It was a magical night in Toronto. Every little thing Sting did and does is magic. Magic. Magic. Magic. Magic. Magic. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  • Toronto love

by Grey Mare on 2024-09-25Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Sting 3.0 rocked Massey Hall to the rafters on 22 September. We showed them big love and they gave it right back. Thanks to Sting, Dominic and Chris (and to the spirits of Andy and Stewart)—especially for adding shows and for showing up fully. Great concert.

  • Simply the best !!

He s been an icon for a long time and there s been no drop off in his talent and his distinctive voice Well worth it

  • Super music, terrible sound mix

by Walnuts on 2024-09-25Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

I've always been a huge Sting fan. I was really excited to see him play at Massey Hall -- a rocker in this intimate setting. Not an arena, but a 2,500 venue. And, sure enough, the trio's performance and the content of the show on Sunday, Sept. 22 was just superb. They played a perfect selection from Sting's big range of music, they adapted many of the songs to a live show, and Sting showed a remarkable ability to get the crowd into it with vocal call-and-response parts. BUT a huge downer was the horrible sound mix. The drums and guitar (but, especially the drums) way overpowered Sting's vocals. We could hardly hear him! It was less a problem on the softer songs when the drums were not as prominent. But 3/4 of the show were the full trio playing hard...and those drums were just too loud. I'm a drummer and I know how loud drums can be. In a venue like Massey Hall, they don't need to be miked as much as they were. And it's not a problem of loud rock not working in Massey Hall. I law the Led Zeppelin cover band in the Classic Albums Live series at MH and the sound mix was superb. And LZ is harder rock than Sting. So, the sound team on the Sting show just didn't handle it well that night. And that was a big disappointment.

  • Great show in an intimate space

by Lolacatlo on 2024-09-25Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Sting’s show was one of those shows where you know all the words to most of the shows and after the first two notes, everyone starts singing along. Sting hasn’t lost his amazing stage presense, his voice has not changed in all these years! Massey Hall was a great venue, lending a nice intimacy to the show, although no room to dance! Ah well.

  • pretty robotic

by Owen on 2024-09-24Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

We saw the show 2 nights in a row. After the 1st show - I felt he was just going through the motions. The music was good - but not much other than that. THEN we saw the 2nd show and it was word for word the same stories, same breaks, same songs. Too bad.

  • Amazing!

by DaveH on 2024-09-24Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Sting on Colbert the night before, and he looked a little tired and uninspired. That's reasonable, he's 72. Did I waste money on the tickets? Nope!! In concert Saturday night, he had incredible energy, joy, power, fun - amazing. His voice was great throughout. The opening act was phenonmonal. His drummer and guitarist were fantastic. He really loves to perform, and it shows. Really great at connecting with the whole audience. He played so many great hits, many with fresh new solos or jazz mixed in. He loves to sing with the audience, and we all loved that he loved. A rare artist who gets better with age. So glad I went!

  • Great show

by Tom on 2024-09-24Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Show was great, seats were comfortable. 6th row was amazing. VIP experience was pretty much a let down. Won't pay extra for that again.
