Styx have endured for over five decades while staying true to their progressive rock sound and theatrical live show. Since releasing their self-titled debut in 1972, Styx have sold over 54 million records worldwide between 17 studio albums, 16 compilations and nine live recordings. Notably, the band released four consecutive RIAA-certified multi-platinum albums between 1977’s The Grand Illusion, 1978’s Pieces of Eight, 1979’s Cornerstone and 1981’s Paradise Theatre, the last of which became their first to top the Billboard 200. Across their career, Styx earned eight Top 10 singles on the Hot 100, including the chart-topping “Babe” as well as “Come Sail Away” “Mr. Roboto” and their 1990 comeback single “Show Me the Way.” Despite several hiatuses and lineup changes, Styx have become one of rock’s most consistent touring acts, hosting nearly 100 live shows every year for over two decades and netting career-best earnings on massive co-headlining tours with REO Speedwagon, Foreigner and Def Leppard. In 2021, Styx released their seventeenth studio album, Crash of the Crown.

Great night and so nostalgic and brought me back to high school. Seats were great, weather cooperated and it was the perfect evening to enjoy great music from three different bands.
I gotta admit, while I do love Styx, Gowan was the real reason we went. I idolized Gowan on the mid-to-late 80s during high school but never got to see him because I was underage. 35 years later, I finally got to see him live and he was just as amazing as ever...AND he sang A Criminal Mind! Unfortunately, because of that Styx did not perform Babe but I was perfectly fine with that. As for Styx, since they were the highlight of the show, their performance as a whole was brilliant. This was one of the best performances I've seen and just shows bands of this genre can perform circles around today's artists. I would really love to see Styx by themselves without REO & Loverboy.
The prices for merch were absolutely insane, so bad that I liquid shat myself. But like the prices, the bathroom lines are boarder line crazy. So as I stood their in line waiting for a toilet, the liquid shat dripped down my leg, it wasn’t all bad, the shat was quite warm and soothing as it dripped down my leg, soothing enough to distract me from all the yelling of how, “it’s getting on the floor”, and “I just slipped in it! what the f*** is wrong with you”. Overall 10/10 -Would do it again
All the bands were very tight and demonstrated extraordinary musical talent and impressive harmonization. Loverboy, REO and Styx were having a good time. It showed enormously - and it was contagious. The venue was well organized, functioned effectively, everyone was professional and very polite. However, something I’ve never ever seen before was a number of people complaining to patrons and security, yelling obscenities at other concert goers and causing quite an uncomfortable non-inclusive environment for “standing” or dancing during the show. One group of miserable ones said “it’s called seat for a reason”. Never in all of my many dozens of concerts have I ever see such a display of whining and complaining, to the point that it made it difficult for everyone around them to enjoy the show because of the massive scene they were causing to get genuine polite fans to sit all the time. Security even came over to several people and asked them to “sit down” or they would be asked to leave. What is going on when you can’t stand or dance at a concert? Shame on security for even considering that to be a good idea! Overall a great time, although it would have been “excellent” had we not had some miserable complainers be extraordinarily rude and disrespectful, almost de-rail an otherwise very enjoyable and memorable night!!
Loverboy opened with a great concert and had the audience up on their feet many times. REO Speedwagon was "ho hum". I wish it was just Loverboy and Styx so that Styx could have played more of their songs or a few more Gowan originals besides Criminal Mind. I was surprised that Come Sail Away was so early in the concert. It has often been their last song in previous concerts that I have attended. It was interesting to see Gowan doing the majority of the vocals. His energy was amazing as well. Tommy
Was so looking forward to the line up with Styx, REO Speedwagon & Loverboy and sharing the music I grew up to with my kids. I was not let down! Loverboy and REO Speedwagon both put on great shows to start, but then, Styx came on stage and the energy was incredible! Even my kids said they sounded better live than on their albums! Lawrence Gowan is a true showman, and the entire group put on an incredible show right till the end! Thank you!
All 3 bands were great and put on an amazing show full of energy and great to relive the music I grew up with
Loverboy that I loved in the day lipsynced. REO was fantastic. Styx was carried by Gowan.
Styx was my first concert back in 1977The Grand IIusion tour. After all these years later they still sound great.Still one of my favourite bands.
Great show. I have loved Stxy since the 80’s. They are ageless and timeless. Tommy Shaw is still cute after all these years 😊
7th show I've seen this summer. Styx's musicians were awesome . Thoroughly enjoyed the whole concert. Larry Gowan's showmanship was outstanding. Also really enjoyed Loverboy as well. We need more trio concerts like this!
I think the food and beverages were z bit expensive Tha bands were great
One thing that took away from it a bit, was the bands didn't get announced and REO Speedwagon took too much time. Otherwise a great time! Thanks to the "walkway police". We were first row of the last section and people would come along and stand there and block our view of the stage. So glad they came by and moved them along!
Styx delivered once again. The band's energy levels were off the charts. Vocals and music were outstanding. A great mixture of their newer material and their classics.
Budweiser leaves a lot to be desired....overfilled wheelchair seating with people who booked regular seating...very concerning both for safety and covid...wouldnt let me have my pre-approved at the gate ticket pickup either...made my guest do mobile......Loverboy and REO speedwagon were great for the startout....but Styx were in fine form...one of my favs...Lawrence was his enthusiastic self, with his little jig....the pandemic has aged everyone further but still very srong stage presence.....nice new set....hope the guys keep going strong....
The concert was better then I had expected. The sound was awsome, the band was tight. Gowan is a great addition to the band. STYX is one of my all time favorite bands growing up and still, now. The venue was amazing and run very well. I did have a woman coughing beside me and subsequently contracted COVID. I have had 4 vaccines so you can still catch it. Maybe too soon to be in a croud of 15,000 people. I think its important for people to be aware so they can make a more educated decision before attending a concert. Hey im feeling not too terrible. STYX rocked it and im so glad i saw them. REO was very good and Lover Boy rocked and got the crowd up and into it. 🤙👏
Each of the bands were great with so many legendary songs being played. The band members really came to the party and were an inspiration for every one in the audience … if you still have passion you can continue to do great things!
Loved the show. Was a great night, 3 great performances. Venue was easy to get to.
My mini-review of the August 16, 2022 Styx concert in Toronto: Hometown hero Lawrence Gowan, the piano-playing, jig dancing and frequent lead vocalist of Styx, was the unchallenged star of the evening, as the band he joined after giving up his solo career (“A Criminal Mind” - performed at the concert - and many more) returned to Toronto to headline a 3-band show with 1980s’ Canadian hit rockers Loverboy and REO Speedwagon. I’ve seen Styx before Gowan and with Gowan several times, but never was he (or his predecessor, Styx co-founder Dennis De Young) such a centrepiece of the band’s show before. His gregarious comments, sylph-like sweeps across the stage, piano fills, powerful vocals and physical gymnastics helped power the band through a near 2-hour set consisting mainly of the best known songs from their glittering catalogue of music. From the opening “Rocking the Paradise” to the final encore “Renegade”, Styx had the 15,000 in attendance on their feet all night. Loverboy opened with a solid set of hits and curios, and REO followed - tres ordinaire.
