About

Styx have endured for over five decades while staying true to their progressive rock sound and theatrical live show. Since releasing their self-titled debut in 1972, Styx have sold over 54 million records worldwide between 17 studio albums, 16 compilations and nine live recordings. Notably, the band released four consecutive RIAA-certified multi-platinum albums between 1977’s The Grand Illusion, 1978’s Pieces of Eight, 1979’s Cornerstone and 1981’s Paradise Theatre, the last of which became their first to top the Billboard 200. Across their career, Styx earned eight Top 10 singles on the Hot 100, including the chart-topping “Babe” as well as “Come Sail Away” “Mr. Roboto” and their 1990 comeback single “Show Me the Way.” Despite several hiatuses and lineup changes, Styx have become one of rock’s most consistent touring acts, hosting nearly 100 live shows every year for over two decades and netting career-best earnings on massive co-headlining tours with REO Speedwagon, Foreigner and Def Leppard. In 2021, Styx released their seventeenth studio album, Crash of the Crown.

Very high energy, entertaining concert. I was not disappointed, and I am impressed the show is as good or better than any shows I have seen in the past.

    Styx was Amazing!

by StaceyY on 2022-10-18SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

Styx was absolutely amazing! So much energy and so polished to make an amazing experience. Nancy Wilson’s Heart however, was not as expected. Backup singer stole the show. The rest of their show was the quality of a cover band, something I would never pay to attend. Styx however, I would see time and time again!!!!!! Thank you for the old school rock experience!

    Best Concert in long time

by Ellie on 2022-10-18SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

Wow, these guys are still amazing. Such a fantastic show! They did not disappoint one bit! Also Nancy Wilson still has it and Kim is an amazing vocalist as well. Enjoyed both bands immensely!

    ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE

by Giggles on 2022-10-18SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

The Styx Concert was absolutely phenomenal. Amazing performance and talent. The atmosphere was incredible; the only thing that was a disadvantage was how crammed the seats in the venue are. Adults can hardly sit comfortably shoulder to shoulder because the seats are so crammed together. Lots of adults are overlapping shoulders just to watch whatever event they are there to see.

    STYX AND NANCY WILSON

    Loved it!

by Tammara on 2022-10-18SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

This is the first time I've seen Styx live. Been a fan of their music since I was a kid, thanks to my dad's influence. The addition of, Canadian, Lawrence Gowan is seamless! Also a fan of his solo music. The whole band put on an amazing show. I'd definitely see them live again! On the other hand, Nancy Wilson's Heart wasn't that great. To quote a friend of mine, "she clearly wasn't the talent in that family". However the lead singer was really good. I feel they have some kinks to work out, as a band.

    Nancy Wilson’s Heart & Styx

by Chachi on 2022-10-18SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

Nancy Wilson’s Heart was very entertaining. The band and Nancy’s vocals were great! I loved Nancy’s storytelling. The new singer has an incredible voice and vocal range. She was awesome! Heart gave a great performance! Styx Was amazing! Musicianship, clarity and vocals were at the highest calibre of any live concert I have ever seen including the U2, the Eagles, Guns N’ Roses and others. The vocals of Tommy Shaw and Gowan were top notch. This band is so tight they are all great musicians! I will go see these guys again tomorrow if they were coming back.

The Better side of End of Career Tours

by Old Rocker on 2022-10-18SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

Hey us old rockers never want our adolescent music hero’s to stop rocking it but trust me for some the time has come! I have paid too much money to see some farewell tours that were barely a showdown of their former greatness. That said we love our music and the people who rocked us in our glory years so you buy the ticket hoping it’s just like their 1985 concert! Well most are not for sure, but every once in a while and many times when you least expect it, we are pleasantly surprised. Talk about value for money STYX and Half a Heart for less then $75 got you to a dam good evening of rock and roll. A good sound check could have made the Heart part a ton better but it was good. Styx for me was top 3 of all the old rockers I have been taking in over the last 10-15 years! Always loved their music and have seen them before but they had a great night on Saturday! The leaders led the night, Lawrence Gowan - WOW talk about energy (maybe he got it coming back to Canadian soil) he was worth the price of admission! Tommy Shaw - Excellent, that easy to listen to professional entertainer was spot on! Todd Sucherman - Not just a drummer, one of the best in rock and roll. He goes way beyond FILL, the man was born with sticks in his hands and has crafted the art over 60 years and it shows up! Actually had to think on my 2 hour drive home that night about going to another show of theirs on this tour? Yes that GOOD, rock on men👍👍👍👍

High energy and nothing but bangers

by Janelle on 2022-10-18SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

This was one of the best rock outs we’ve been to. You could tell the band was having so much fun, and we were excited to be a part of it!

    Nancy Wilson’s Heart and Styx

by Rachelvjo on 2022-10-18SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

Nancy Wilson is a lovely and talented musician and put on a decent show for an opening act. Her backup vocalist to do the “Ann” parts is extraordinary and does a great job…but not Ann. Styx on the other hand put on a spectacular, rocking show with appropriate lights and smoke and, most importantly, the MUSIC was bang on. Larry Gowan is perhaps a better frontman and his vocals are incredible. Tommy Shaw is in peak form and JY is still rocking. Love they have Chuck on the road with them too. An amazing show with many memories stirred. Loved them!

    High energy concert!

by Baretz on 2022-10-18SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

This was our first major concert after 3 years and we couldn’t have picked a better one! Wow! It surpasses our expectations right from the opening act of Nancy Wilson’s Heart, which could be its own show! Nancy was amazing as was her “rag tag” band and her AMAZING singer. Then Styx just blew us away. Gowan was even better than we could have hoped for and is a natural front man. He kept everything going and clearly was having a great time. His voice is just 100% perfect for Styx. Incredible. Not to mention his keyboard talents. Tommy Shaw and the rest of the band were also fabulous. They all had so much energy and Tommy’s voice was also spot on. Just incredible to see how great they still sound. We’ve been listening to them for 50 years and finally heard them love. We were not disappointed. This concert was worth every cent!!

    Excellent!

by TC on 2022-10-18SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

I’ve seen quite a few “classic rock” acts within the last 15 years and this show was definitely one of the best. Even the songs I wasn’t as familiar were entertaining and very good. The band had such a great positive and enigmatic energy.

    What a great show

by Huge Fan on 2022-10-18SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

I was so happy when ticket prices went on sale at thanksgiving!! Styx is my 2nd favourite non Canadian band after the Eagles. Ticket prices have been unaffordable to me for the huge number of shows coming this year. Opening band Nancy Wilson’s Heart was great. Sound was a little off which had me worried for the main show. When Styx took the stage my worries vanished as the sound was perfect. A great sounding show. Stage show itself was their usual set up with some new lights. A simple but good stage. No giant screens. I knew every word to most of the songs. Enjoyed the new material as well. The best part for me was being able to get out to a function like this again with my oldest daughter. We all know why so won’t dwell on that. Just wish ticket prices for these shows could be more affordable so I could take in a few more.
