About

Styx have endured for over five decades while staying true to their progressive rock sound and theatrical live show. Since releasing their self-titled debut in 1972, Styx have sold over 54 million records worldwide between 17 studio albums, 16 compilations and nine live recordings. Notably, the band released four consecutive RIAA-certified multi-platinum albums between 1977’s The Grand Illusion, 1978’s Pieces of Eight, 1979’s Cornerstone and 1981’s Paradise Theatre, the last of which became their first to top the Billboard 200. Across their career, Styx earned eight Top 10 singles on the Hot 100, including the chart-topping “Babe” as well as “Come Sail Away” “Mr. Roboto” and their 1990 comeback single “Show Me the Way.” Despite several hiatuses and lineup changes, Styx have become one of rock’s most consistent touring acts, hosting nearly 100 live shows every year for over two decades and netting career-best earnings on massive co-headlining tours with REO Speedwagon, Foreigner and Def Leppard. In 2021, Styx released their seventeenth studio album, Crash of the Crown.

  • Awesome Concert

by David on 2024-05-23Credit Union Place - SummersideRating: 5 out of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed this concert. It's been a long time since I last saw Styx and I had honestly forgotten how much I really enjoy their music! I sang along with almost every song! Lawrence Gowen did a fantastic job singing and entertaining the crowd! Tommy Shaw and Lawrence Gowan's younger brother also did an excellent job playing to the entire audience, utilizing the entire stage and frequently interacting with the crowd. Thank you Styx. This was one night I won't soon forget!!!

  • Very good show and great Styx songs….

by Mar on 2024-05-23Molson Canadian Centre at Casino New/Nouveau Brunswick - MonctonRating: 4 out of 5

My wife and I are great fans of Styx since we met in the early 80’s….. The show was great but Styx without Denis De Young is like Styx without Tommy Shaw or James Young. The soul of the band is missing something….. We also know Lawrence Gowan…. Who is a great artist and musician… but Criminal mind out of Gowan’s Strange Animal album was not part of our expectation…… Babe would have been more appropriate (being a Styx song)…. Ps- Chuck Panozzo joining in was amazing…. Guys are getting older….. but still rockin…👍

  • Styx - Top Notch Act

Seeing Styx was an amazing experience. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • Fun times

by Mountie9 on 2024-05-23Molson Canadian Centre at Casino New/Nouveau Brunswick - MonctonRating: 5 out of 5

Loved Styx growing up and my first ever concert was Gowan so had to go. Seats were ok - next time would choose the bleacher seats as we were in floor seats and has a ginormous guy in front of me so hard to see. Band was fabulous- would have loved it to go longer but other than that - highly recommended!

  • Styx; The Best of Times

    by Buck 2112 on 2024-05-23Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 5 out of 5

The show was excellent in just about every way. I saw Styx previously during their Paradise Theatre tour of the early eighties, with the original line up. To me the current line up was just as good and maybe even a little better. Thrilled that they performed Criminal Mind as I’m also a huge Gowan fan. It would have been nice to hear some more songs off their most recent albums, but when the catalog is as vast as it is, it’s hard to play them all. Excellent showmanship, musicianship and their signature harmonies, Styx showed why they are still one of the top progressive rock bands of all times. The show clearly was, “The Best of Times”

  • Great evening

  • Styx Concert

by Sheldon on 2024-05-22Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 5 out of 5

Concert was excellent! These guys know how to play after all these years! Concert staff was also great. The only problem was I bought a tee shirt and it was one from another tour. It didn’t have Halifax listed as a stop.

  • Too Much Time In Between

    by Barb T. on 2024-05-22Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 5 out of 5

Jan/77….I was 17yo when Styx played to a packed high school gymnasium, and stayed around after to sign autographs; I had a brief, but very personal, conversation with Tommy….and I was hooked. Fast forward 46 years, and I found myself just as enthralled, just as giddy, and just as hooked as that teenager, who could now afford a weekend away and second row seats. If only those VIP tickets had come with a Meet’n Greet, and if only I had one more opportunity to shake the hand of my biggest celebrity crush, and say “Thanks for nearly five decades of making this ol’ gal feel like 17 again!”

  • Great Show

by JMac on 2024-05-22Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 5 out of 5

They get better with age...great seats, the sound was perfect...drums great...biggest cheer was for A Criminal Mind (not including the callout songs)...

  • Styx put on a fantastic show.

by Maureen on 2024-05-22Credit Union Place - SummersideRating: 5 out of 5

I would definitely go and see them again. My only concern is the smoke they use made it very hard to breath.

  • Fantastic show!

by Kim from 🇨🇦 on 2024-05-22Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 5 out of 5

Styx sounded incredible. The energy, sound quality, and setlist was fantastic! Extra special for us Canadians is seeing Lawrence Gowan and his brother Terry in the band!! Hopefully we get the opportunity to see the band perform again in the future!

  • One of the best concerts ever!!

by Scott on 2024-05-22Scotiabank Centre - HalifaxRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was awesome, the opening act, David Miles was ok, very talented trio, just not our kind of music. Styx put on an awesome show, playing all the great hit songs, Larry Gowan is an excellent showman. I think the more the crowd got into it, the more he performed. Tommy Shaw and the rest of the band was awesome, sounded great! The only complaint about the Scotia Bank centre is all the stairs, my wife’s knee isn’t the brst snd dhe minded all the stairs.
