THE B-52S IN CONCERT:
Since forming in 1976, The B-52s have always stood out for their thrift-store chic style and ability to craft catchy, retro-inspired hits. Over the years they might have let their beehives down, but every-thing else about the band is still as tight as it was 30 years ago. Their call-and-response choruses always get fans singing along, and their fun and funky grooves will have you dancing right along with the band. The B-52s are taking their party atmosphere to select cities across the U.S. on their 2015 tour, bringing all their cool style and flamboyant fun to a town near you.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Named after a particular type of beehive hairdo, The B-52s rocketed out of Athens, Georgia in the late ’70s. Starting with their smash hit “Rock Lobster”, the band developed a reputation for campy fun and catchy melodies that carried over to other favorites like “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”. By the end of the decade, the band achieved a major mainstream radio breakthrough with the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam”. The band stayed relevant into the ’90s, appearing in The Flintstones live action movie (as “The BC-52’s”) and performing the theme song from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life. Almost 40 years later, this zany garage band is still having a blast -- and still sounds like a blast from the past.

Just fun , hope they just keep going . Wish they would have done some Funplex though . Love them .
I had great expectations for this concert as I have been a fan since they began close to 35 years ago. Concert off to a bad start with Announcer coming on and trying to sell tickets for upcoming concerts. After already waiting impatiently after a very late start that did not help. The actual show got off on a promising start with their very first song "Planet Claire". Unfortunately the sound system was quite poor and the voices (especially Cindy's) were quite shrill. If you take in account the late start then they barely played over an hour which was definitely NOT getting my money's worth.
Short but fun. When I purchased the tickets this concert was billed as the "B52's & The Go Go's. I was not notified that it was just the B52's - I only found out at the day of the concert. Having both bands performing, this would have been a great show. With only the B52's I felt a bit let down.
B-52s have still got it! Lots of energy and their voices are still great. The Ryman Auditorium is a beautiful classic venue too. The only complaint was the lack of crowd control. We paid for front row seats but had difficulty seeing because folks from the back came forward, and security didn't stop them. My recommendation for this venue is don't pay for front row; just wander up there once the show starts!
Bangles came on first and i didn't know they were such a good band! They had great sound and their song set was very easy to listen to. B52's were amazing!! They came on full of energy and never let up a second for the next hour! It was great to hear all the hits and the energy was just incredible. Never seen so many people up dancing!! Only thing that bugs me about every event is that none of the acts know where they are. They think they're still in Toronto, and some of them don't even know that, they just know they're in Ontario!
The following is a review of the musical group the B-52s which I saw at casino Rama on Saturday, August 11.This was the first time I have seen this group and they were awesome. I thought that they maybe slowing down based on their age but this is living proof that 65 is the new 39. Energy from bell to bell great stage presence and fabulous sound. The range in their voices was superb and the band was totally tight. I have not heard better sound in any of the 30 concerts that I have seen at this Casino. The Bangles were a great opening act and had the crowd in the mood by the time the B-52s came on stage. Both acts showed that they were very professional. At the end of the concert it felt like you had just been to a party very few people were sitting and some danced to every song. Hats off to both groups with much thanks.
These two bands complement each other well. The Bangles knocked out their classics with ease and flair. All their voices sounded strong, and a big hats off to Casino Rama sound crew etc. Both bands sounded great. I was impressed that the bass guitarist and also the keyboard player from the Bangles came into the audience to watch the B52s. We'd earlier sat at the next table to them at the hotel. The B-52s played a strong energetic set and followed up with a two song encore that got the audience up on their feet. (Except the irritating 20-30% that dribbled out, probably to get a coach, or to go to bed early!)
The Bangles opened the show and played all their hits and a few new tunes too. They looked amazing and sounded great, gotta luv Debbi on the drums, hottest drummer ever. Michael's not on bass anymore (sadly missed) but the girls were awesome none the less. B-52s were very high energy and LOUD ! They played all their biggest hits and sounded great. Kate & Cindy have amazing energy and lungs. Both bands brought me back to the 80's and the great music of the day.
Both Bangles and the B52's sounded and performed great but the audience at Casino Rama ruined the night and the experience for most. During the B52's performance, people kept filing out of the venue at an alarming rate and most people who did stay, sat on their hands. What should have been a night of dancing I spent the night wondering who were these people who payed money for the show then leave during the headliner. Why were people at the show if they didn't want to be there? The band still performed like professionals performing like everything was fine but I'm sure they noticed. I hope these bands skip this venue next time and perform around people who would appreciate the music.
The B52s and the Bangles were simply amazing!!!!! They both had so much energy, especially the B52's, who played all their hit songs and a few new ones. I have never seen so much energy at a show. They sound even better than on their CDs. I just hope they come up with new material soon. The Bangles were also excellent, although they played a few unfamiliar songs.
I caught the B-52's at Casino Rama last weekend. The show was excellent. The B-52's still rock and belt it out. The Bangles opened for the B-52's and they were also good, I am not a fan of the Bangles, but they were actually pretty good and sounded great. Casino Rama is a great venue for catching a show. We have been to many concerts there and we have never been disappointed with the facilities or the bands.
As much as I was looking forward to The B-52's , I'm must say that it was The Bangles that rocked the show . The Bangles was dynamic and played favorites that brought the house to its feet . They played what we wanted to hear . The B-52's sounded strained and had a lack luster performance . Unfortunately , they also played obscure songs . The should have stuck to their hits and more familiar songs . We only got to hear a couple of hits . Still , it was great to see them still performing .
Bangles sounded great and the B52s were so much fun! I laughed so hard at the lead singer's actions - great fun!!!
I was not expecting to recognize as many Bangles songs as I did! Very entertaining! Not a fan of the B52's. The Bangles should have played second before the B52's as shown by the groves of people who left after the Bangles were finished. Also not impressed that we were shown where to sit by Casino Rama staff only to find out we had to move part way through the performance when another couple showed up to sit where we were! Absolutely not impressed especially when we were directed to sit in the wrong seats!
Me and my friend had an amazing time! We didn't know what to expect from the bands has we hadn't really seen them around for years but both bands proved that age is just a number. They were all energetic and young enough to rock out and entertain their audience. Really impressed with how they could still hit those high notes!! The only drawback was the majority of the audience was a bunch of old Fuddy Duddy's. Seriously!!! What was up with that? One guy sitting two seats away from us told us to "Settle Down" All we were doing was cheering and dancing in our seats. A lot of people in the crowd were sitting motionless and staring blankly at the stage. I was wondering if maybe they just lost their fortunes in the Casino before the show started. I guess that is the downside of seeing a show at a Casino maybe? Lots of Oldies and Church tour groups?? Other than that though we had a blast! Would I go back there to see a show...Probably now that I know what to expect. Maybe next time I would get seats closer to the stage. The people up front were really dancing and having a blast!
Awesome show! The B-52s are high quality,at it's best ! The world's greatest party band...soooooo true!
All the way from Montréal ,Canada, for the B-52s... Great show !!!
Overall band was in good form. First time I saw them. Could not believe it when about an hour in they said good night. Say what!! So after a couple of encores 1 hr 15 min. it was over. At close to $90 a ticket, and a long drive, not really our monies worth. Still were a number of good songs they did not play like Good Stuff, Hallucinating Pluto and such that would have probably gotten the crowd really rocking. Was still good to see them. A few more songs would have left us satisfied though. Would recommend if you live close to where they are playing. But, don't drive any distance like we did.
Lots of fun and great energy from the band and the crowd
