  • Jim Cuddy a class act;Doug Paisley on his way up

by Moedonna24 on 2012-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Jim Cuddy was humble and funny, yet polished and every bit a showman. His ease in connecting with the crowd set the stage for his considerable talent to come through again and again. Blending 70% new material, with 30% of the most loved Blue Rodeo tunes yielded a delicious table d'hote. The grouping of talented muscians including Anne Lindsay and Basil Donovan provided the breadth and depth to make this an unforgettable evening. Thank you so much.

  • Awesome performance!

by myforte on 2012-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Jim gave an outstanding performance. From the moment he walked on the stage he captivated the audience. The play list was perfect - a little bit of everything with some favorites from Blue Rodeo thrown in. He is a gifted performer that gives his all for his fans. 2 hours of straight entertainment and he looked like he enjoyed himself as much as we did. Couldn't have been better!!!

  • The Jim Cuddy Band was awesome!

by Petpet on 2012-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was worth every penny and even better than I had expected. The vocal and instrumental talent on that stage was amazing. Jim Cuddy's voice is even better live. He brought me to tears on one of his songs. And can I just say the fiddle player blew my socks off. Her voice is beautiful and blends so sweetly with Jim's but boy can she play a fiddle. The entire band is so talented! If you ever get the chance to see this band, go! You will be glad you did.

Every song, including the many news ones were delivered professionally and with energy. His band is excellent and Jim just gets better and better

A highly recommended event. A huge setlist of new material with some Blue Rodeo staples sprinkled in for good measure. Mr. Cuddy has surrounded himself with a great ensemble. Top 5 concert to date for us!

The evening was great. The warm up act Doug Paisley and his band set the mood and then Jim Cuddy's band were awesome, played steady for two hours with a good mix of old favourites and songs from the new album.

  • Like fine wine...

by PetitChou on 2012-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Jim Cuddy was in great form as he sang and entertained us for a solid two + hours. Played lots of his new material which instantly became familiar. Enter a handful of Blue Rodeo classics and songs from his previous two solo efforts - it was the perfect blend. We didn't want the night to end. His voice was crystal clear as ever. Highly, highly recommend you go watch him with his band, who are all incredibly talented musicians.

  • Cuddy Good, Sound Bad

by MDCD on 2012-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

Very much enjoyed seeing Jim Cuddy at The Jubilee Auditorium. It was a nice mix of new songs and a few classic Blue Rodeo tunes. However, the sound mix at the venue was so bad that it was virtually impossible to make out some of the lyrics in songs that were well known to me. This was made even more obvious by the fact that Cuddy & Co. sang the last song of the night without using their mics...just the four of them and their guitars...and that was fantastic. What does that say about the quality of the sound mix when you can hear something better without the band using their mics. Cuddy is a master at what he does, a true Canadian Treasure, but the Jubilee Auditorium or the Sound Guy or whomever is responsible should be fired for the way they mixed that show. They turned a great gig into an average gig. I look forward to seeing Cuddy again, I just hope it's at a venue that takes pride in their sound.

Could not have asked for a better evening. Once again Mr. Cuddy deleivered an unforgettable performance with bang on vocals. The band was fantastic (I would have expected no less) and special guest was a spectacular welcome to an overall memorable evening.

  • Jim Cuddy Band -- FABULOUS *****

by IngridJ on 2012-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Without a doubt, Jim Cuddy and his bandmates provided us with the best concert we've seen in at least 20 years! True to his talents and his audience, Jim Cuddy is music in the purest sense of the word. He has some richly talented people singing and playing along with him and send the fans to a place of awe and appreciation. Five Stars and more! Days later, we're still on a high. Thank you!

  • did not do justice to cuddy's talent -too loud

by wifeschoice on 2012-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

I enjoy jim cuddy's music but found the volume excessive to the point where on most songs there was a lot of distortion - all i heard was noise. on those few songs where jim performed alone or where he was accompanied only by one or two other members it was great and the h ighlight for me was his close where he and three others sang without the sound system - you could have heard a pin drop. too bad but i would not return to such a concert. we were located centre theatre in the 2nd balcony.

  • Jim Cuddy was awesome - as usual!

  • Awesome performane

by foreorr on 2012-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

This is the second time that I have seen Jim Cuddy solo and once again, he did not disappoint. The energy was high with many up tempo songs. he played many songs from his new CD and they were all great songs. I will definitely go out and buy his new CD. He played the favourites and his voice is never gets old...same great quality as 20 years ago. The highlight was 5 Days in May. It was outstanding. The 2 or 3 minute solo by the fiddle player brough goosebumps to my wife and I and then the traditional guitar solo at the end topped it all off. It was 10 or 12 minutes of pure rock and roll. I never get tired of listening to that song. At 55 or 56 years old, Jim's voice is as good as it ever was. In that regard he reminds me a lot of another Canadian icon, Burton Cummings in that his voice seems the saem as it did years ago and he can reach the high notes with no problems. Definitely one of the better concerts I have seen in a long while !!

  • Best Jim Cuddy show yet!

Amazing performance by Jim and all of the band members. I enjoyed every minute. Anne Lindsay's solo portion of Five Days in May made the hair stand up on the back of my neck!

I did not know who Jim Cuddy was but my husband is a big fan. He loved it and even knew the name of the bass player that was on stage for both Jim and Doug. I really enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you
