    Nothing Trashy About Garbage

by Gunner4Life on 2012-10-11The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Garbage was awesome, Shirley Manson is a bona fide rock singer and very impressive front woman. As only knowing two songs going in to this concert (I'm Only Happy When it's Raining and Stupid Girl), it was nice to hear their other songs and new music.

It was an amazing show throughout! It was my first time seeing them as I was too young to go to concerts back in the day. It was an emotional experience for me as they were an important band for me while growing up. They know how to put on a show and keep the crowd growing. Much love exchanged between the audience and the band.

    Pure Garbage

by znz212 on 2012-10-06The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

It took a while to start writing this review. I rewrote the first sentence numerous times, but nothing seemed fantastic enough to describe this experience. I've seen a lot of great shows, but it's been a while since I've been so blown away. Garbage brought what every rock show should. High energy, perfect vocals, engaging interaction, and pure fun. Watching them on stage made it obvious that they do this because they truly love it. They played a mix of all the fan favourites spanning their entire catalog. As a long time fan, never having previously had the chance to see them in concert, I couldn't have asked for anything more. One of my favourite things about live music is the interaction, the banter and stories between songs. At too many shows the artists just play song after song, with very little narrative in between. Shirley Manson was amazing. In what appeared to be a surprise to the security team, she jumped off stage and sang an entire song while running between the isles of the floor, high-fiving and hugging audience members along the way. There were many memorable moments throughout the night, funny stories, and poignant introductions to some songs. A standout was drummer Butch Vig presenting Shirley with a symbol that he broke during the previous song, as some sort of comfort during a personal moment she was sharing with the crowd. "Oh look, Butch has broken a symbol...that's his answer to my existential crisis!" she laughed back at him before asking for a shot from back stage. "'Look Shirl, a broken symbol'...Does that...help me? In my crisis!?". And so I end this review by sharing some more of Shirley's words, and one of my favourite moments of the night. On a night when Madonna and Amanda Palmer were in town, the sincerity and gratitude in her voice was more than apparent as she spoke, and I admit I'm still moved while listening back to this as I type: "Thank you so much for coming tonight. I know times are tough and there are so many people to choose from, and the fact that you have chosen us I can't even put into words. It's easy to be cynical these days...but these are private words put to you in public. It means a lot to us, it means more than you will ever imagine."

Amazingly amazing (and very emotional) show!

by lxstudio on 2012-10-03The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I enjoyed this show so much, it's beyond words. Garbage's live performance was electrifying, Shirley's voice and moves were breathtaking, and they really played all the song I wanted to hear. It was more than perfect. I was so moved by their sound I cried three times, and screamed or danced during the other. I would definitely go see them live in a heartbeat if they're in town.

    One of the BEST yet!!!

by Harald on 2012-10-03The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I am so happy that I decided to get tickets for this show. From the moment they took the stage the audience stood up and did not sit down for the rest of the show. Shirley Manson and the band played all of the favourites and some of their new stuff to. They were full of energy and delivered the tunes straight up the way the fans like it. Shirley was so humble and thanked the audience on numerous occasions for coming out to see Garbage rather than the "other" artists that were playing on the same night. She even did a walk up and down the aisles amongst the audience. I got one picture of her on my I-phone. Thanks Shirley! I have seen hundreds of shows in Vancouver over the last thirty years and this is definitely in the top 3!! Screaming Females did an incredible job of warming up the audience. If this concert was playing a second night, I would have went again.

    Garbage is still my favourite

by Biggarbagefan on 2012-10-02The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I've been a big fan of garbage for well over 10 years, but I hadn't yet seen them in concert. I sure wasn't disappointed! They are one of those few bands that actually sound better live. The venue was very nice as well, much better than I expected.

Garbage was an amazing band to see at the Centre. Please come to AB next time as it was a very long drive from Calgary.

    Another stellar performance by Garbage!

by amazed5 on 2012-10-02The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Once again Shirley Manson proved why she is one of the industry's best entertainers - solid vocals, a sense of humour and what seemed to be a genuine love of connecting with her audience.

    Shirley not

by Cueboy on 2012-10-02The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Garbage rocked the house. Shirley was slim and did not miss a note. I loved it all - they still matter, perhaps especially in a time of 5 minute talentless idols. Miss you Shirley, come back soon beautiful freak.

    My Teen Years live!

by Stc139 on 2012-06-26Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

I've liked Garbage since I was in highschool and I really never thought I'd get to see them live. They put on a great show. Shirley's voice is absolutely perfect and the live instrumentations are spot on as well. Really loved some of the song re-inventions.

    Amazing Garbage

by Taliesinjoe on 2012-06-13The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

Shirley Manson and the boys are back with a vengeance, 7 years have passed since and it seems that their batteries are back on full force and rocked the Phoenix club and everyone in there, the night was absolutely torrid and Garbage turned up a notch with all their classics. The new songs rocked but the highlite of the nite was everyone chanting "go baby go" from Cherry Lips tune. Shirley is one of the most powerful frontwoman out there and she kicked ass like no other. Duke, Steve and Butch just played with so much fun. The only downer was the audio set up at the club, it was pretty awful, the Phoenix needs to upgrade cause this concert could have been absolutely fantastic if the audio was up par.

    by tiki16 on 2012-06-02The Phoenix - Toronto

Saw them May 28th at the Phoenix in Toronto. Show sold out very fast. I was lucky enough to get tickets. It was one of the best shows I've seen! Fantastic performance by Shirley Manson and her band mates. I highly recommend.
