About

Legendary New York-bred singer-songwriter Billy Joel has toured only sporadically in recent years, but fans have plenty of opportunities to score tickets to see him in concert going forward -- if they're willing to head out to New York's Madison Square Garden. Joel signed an open-ended deal with MSG that will have him playing a concert at the venue once per month for as long as there's demand. And demand has never been a problem for Joel at he historic New York venue; he played his first show there in 1978, and had logged 46 concerts at the arena by 2013.
New York isn't alone in its love for the singer. Joel has long been established as one of the top-grossing touring artists in the U.S., and has sold more than 150 million records over the course his four-decade career. After recording a long string of hits including "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," "Just the Way You Are," "You May Be Right," "Pressure," "Uptown Girl," "We Didn't Start the Fire," and  "The River of Dreams," Joel decided that he was done writing pop and rock songs. It's a decision he's stuck with; it's been more than 20 years since he's recorded a new pop or rock album. He's composed new classical material instead, while continuing to play songs from his catalog in concert.

  • Unbelievable Music From Billy Joel!

by MeganMilk on 2014-09-25Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

From the moment Billy Joel walked on stage, he owned the crowd and Madison Square Garden. His voice is pure soul. I love a performer who engages the crowd and let's everyone sing his songs while he listens. It felt like a real love feat. The band, lighting and selection of songs and well my first time seeing BJ live, this was a concert of a lifetime! I really did feel like an Uptown Girl!

  • Billy Joel at MSG was Awesome

by Raider10 on 2014-08-10Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Billy Joel at MSG on August 7, 2014. I have always wanted to see Billy Joel in concert and could not have picked a better forum to see him play. The show was fantastic. Billy was in fine forum. He played all of the hits that you would want to hear. Also right in the front row was no other than his ex-wife Christie Brinkley who he pointed out while singing Uptown Girl. I would suggest anyone who can get out to see one of his remaining shows at MSG ...do so..

  • Billy Joel

by greasewop on 2014-06-17MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

This was a fantastic show. Billy played all of his hits and his voice was still spot on. Show lasted for 2 hours and the fans were still clapping for more. Loved the set when he did a couple of "Elvis " tunes and also the ACDC tune by one of his roadies. All in all a super night.

Have been a Billy Joel fan since he came on the scene. Have never seen him live before, so when by chance he was going to be in Las Vegas for one night while we were there, I just had to go. It was one of the best concerts ever! He is fabulous live - doesn't miss a beat and puts on a great show. So happy I was finally able to see him live - now a bigger fan than ever.

First time seeing Billy Joel live was unbelievable. My wife said I had a permanent smile throughout the performance. She couldn't believe I knew the words to almost every song. Definitely the best and most memorable live performance I've ever seen....Thanks to everyone from crew to Gavin DeGraw and Billy Joel for a night we'll never forget.

  • Hello New York!

by bayoubunny66 on 2014-04-03Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Madison Square Gardens is certainly the best place to see Billy. The crowd was cheering every move. Joel sang a great set. Lots of hits, some odd tunes off old albums, some covers and asked the singer from AC/DC to join him for a metal ditty. It had everything!

  • Billy Joel's Party

by Sentinel on 2014-03-16Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The music was well played. All of the musicians delivered the maximum quality of performance, with tremendous enthusiasm. The performance was long and packed with content. Billy spoke warmly and clearly when recounting a few anecdotes. He connected very well with his audience.
