Legendary New York-bred singer-songwriter Billy Joel has toured only sporadically in recent years, but fans have plenty of opportunities to score tickets to see him in concert going forward -- if they're willing to head out to New York's Madison Square Garden. Joel signed an open-ended deal with MSG that will have him playing a concert at the venue once per month for as long as there's demand. And demand has never been a problem for Joel at he historic New York venue; he played his first show there in 1978, and had logged 46 concerts at the arena by 2013.
New York isn't alone in its love for the singer. Joel has long been established as one of the top-grossing touring artists in the U.S., and has sold more than 150 million records over the course his four-decade career. After recording a long string of hits including "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," "Just the Way You Are," "You May Be Right," "Pressure," "Uptown Girl," "We Didn't Start the Fire," and "The River of Dreams," Joel decided that he was done writing pop and rock songs. It's a decision he's stuck with; it's been more than 20 years since he's recorded a new pop or rock album. He's composed new classical material instead, while continuing to play songs from his catalog in concert.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Billy Joel concert. We would definitely go again.
This was my third time seeing Billy. It has been years since I have been to one of his concerts (Maple Leaf Gardens and Skydome with Elton John) I took my daughter with me this time, she is 12, and she had as much fun as me. Billy's energy was amazing, his voice was as strong as I remember and they way he takes the time to interact with his audience makes his concert more than just music but a real entertainment experience.
His show is just confirmation that "they don't make them like they use to" Billy and his band are talented performers who's songs are both technically challenging and lyrics are more then 2 syllables. What an honour to attend this concert, his music has helped me through difficult and good times!!
We had a fantastic time at the Concert this Sunday...Billy Joel is one of the truly great entertainers of our time...he not only sang wonderfully...he joked around with the audience and gave a bit of information on each song! It was a special event and one we will remember for a long time to come!
Billy Joel is the consummate entertainer. Although he has not played a solo tour in Toronto for many years (the last one canceled due to SARS), he made up for lost time on Sunday night at the ACC. Closing your eyes and listening to him sing takes you back to the 70's. His voice and playing are still exceptional, as is his sense of humour. His backing group were terrific. This is one show that will stay with me for a long time. Happy 65th in May - don't leave it too long before we see you again n Ontario.
Billy Joel is better than ever!!!! I would recommend him for everyone to see!!!!
Billy Joel is an incredible entertainer.I took my daughter and she enjoyed herself and surprised me when she knew the words to some of his songs. Just a great show from a great entertainer.
Billy Joel still has it. Not like other oldies who need backup singers to supplement their fading vocalizations. He just kept belting them out. And he was so genuine - not the obligatory "hey it's great to be here in Toronto" to ingratiate - but anecdotes specifically related to Toronto and Canada. This guys is an entertainer!!!
Surprised his performance was only two hours with an opening act, somehow expected it to be three hours. That said, the opening group "Indiana" was good and Billy was excellent. Sat on the floor and was impressed that everyone remained seated for most of the concert, I attribute that to the average age of the audience. His Encore was definitely the hi-lite of the show, even after he concluded the evening earlier with Piano Man.
Billy Joel played and sang his heart out.....First time seeing him live and he was just amazing. Non-stop music for 2 hours. I wish he had played a bit more of his hits!!!
A long time dream-come-true. A fantastic trip through memory lane for me as i was almost done highschool when "Piano Man" was released. I played that album on repeat as i fell asleep at night. It was truly a privilege to see him perform many of my favourites and to introduce my partner to BJ's wonderful music. Thank you for bringing him close to home.
Billy Joel gave it all up on stage for his longtime fans. His energy was infectious and he connected with his audience in every way. His band was super talented and amazing. He never strayed from the purpose of his show - to ENTERTAIN!. A definite must see.
When an aging performer goes on tour, no matter how great they were in their prime, one always wonders if they've "still got it". In the case of Billy Joel, the answer is an unqualified "YES" !! His Toronto concert was an awesome display of an experienced, stage-comfortable entertainer who's voice is still in great shape (who cares about the use of throat spray anyway !!). Without the requisite new songs to flog, his set list was pure enjoyment, as evidenced by the response from even the "older crowd" that he now mostly attracts (although there were a decent number of younger fans in the audience, showing that the quality and breadth of his music has reached beyond his traditional generation). An awesome show worth every penny (note to Ticketmaster: don't interpret this as suggestion that you raise your prices !!).
Great mix of songs- hits and non hits.I never liked "We Didn't Start The Fire" and was happy to hear he never did either. Great sense of humor. His voice was youthful. Funny but sad when he looked at himself-" I'm Billy's dad I'm filling in for him
HE IS LIKE A FINE WINE, GETTING BETTER WITH AGE, THANKS FOR A GREAT SHOW BILLY
While it cannot be said that Billy Joel's voice gets better with age, he still knows how to pace a show, entertain the heck out of everyone and leave the audience after two hours of memorable hits, wanting more. His set list on this tour varies show to show. While 'Down Eastern Alexa' and 'Uptown Girl' could easily have been left off for 'Angry Young Man', 'My Life' and 'Big shot' which we didn't get to hear, the show was still excellent. Mark Rivera, Crystal and Carl Fischer, the former a mainstay in Billy's band for 30+ years, and the others 10+ years are still incredible to watch and listen to. We'll worth trying to see Billy.
Toronto, March 9 2014. 64 years old and still rocks the place. 1 false start, but forgivable. Very funny guy too!! Great concert.
Great show. Great lighting, Billy looks a little worn, but he was very funny energetic and his voice was great. Great song selections. Even songs that forgot from Storm Front are much greater than you think. An amazing talent, if felt like a GIFT to be there. The band is flawless, sound was terrific. This band is so good, they fill all the space but don't crowd each other out. True Musicians.
Billy Joel was just simply "AWESOME". He has been performing for 50 years and still has it. His interaction with the audience was superb and he clearly enjoys what he is doing. Still very humble and appreciative of the audience. So fortunate that we were able to take this concert in!
Billy Joel started fast out of the gate and kept running. The show just kept getting better as it progressed. Superb supporting band. Great interaction with audience
