About

"Bluesy singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has worked long and hard for her multiple Grammy Awards, hit singles and chart-topping records. Since her 1971 eponymous debut, the California-born performer and long-time activist has steadily maintained a music career, albeit with definite peaks and valleys. The red-headed songstress, one of the only women of her time to play guitar using the bottleneck technique, unleashed seven albums in just nine years, though her big commercial break came with her 10th studio set, 1989’s “Nick of Time.” That 11-track collection, produced by Don Was, earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.

Not only has the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tackled multiple U.S. tours and international runs, but she’s also a frequent participant in events of social activism, such as Farm Aid and Amnesty International concerts.

Raitt’s 16th full-length album and most recent studio release, “Slipstream,” hit retailers in 2012. Not only did ticket sales for the support tour soar, but Raitt also landed the best-selling blues album of the year and took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album."

Bonnie Raitt and her band were terrific. Her voice has not deteriorated at all. Royal Wood was a pleasant surprise for an opener. Excellent songwriter. A bit disappointed with the Massey Hall renovation. You’d think with the millions spent, they would have put in cup holders, and you do have to be careful with seats on the sides as there are a lot of obstructed views. Nevertheless still one of the best sounding venues around.

  • Fabulous!

A fabulous night out at a magnificent venue... Bonnie Raitt is the best!

  • Amazing voice

Personable, witty and hands down one of the best voices in the world. Highly recommend.

  • Once again after all these years. Blown away!

Still has her strong voice, both in slow tender songs and when she decides to rock. BB King said she was the best slide guitarist alive! Who am I to argue. At 73 going on 74 she can easily trump most of the contemporary performers. Such energy and commitment to her performance. A legend.

  • Powerful!

by Cat on 2023-10-09Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

She is incredible and brought down the house a number of times. She commented also on the venue and it is magnificent in it's new splendour!

  • Simply the Best!

Bonnie loves canada and we love her. Tight band and not a note out of place. She paid respects to those who came before. Her voice is still amazing and her delivery is flawless.

  • Great show, obstructed view

by MDS on 2023-10-09Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

I joined Friends First expecting to get early seat selection. The Bonnie Raitt show was one of the important reasons I joined. When I tried to get tickets at the prescribed time, I was only able to get obstructed seats in the 101 section. This struck me as an awful result given the annual expense for “friends first”. We had the same result for the Jason Isbell show. All of this has led me to lose faith in this system and I definitely will not be resubscribing. When I mention this to friends they report similar difficulties. We do not go often but we value good seat options and are willing to pay for them in ways other than scalping. What you have done is the complete opposite. It encourages scalping and your Friends First program appears to be scalping by Massey Hall with worse results. Never agin.

  • Excellent concert

by Beve on 2023-10-05Thunder Bay Community Auditorium - Thunder BayRating: 5 out of 5

It is so enjoyable to be in an audience when the musicians are so good that they don’t have to burst your eardrums. No need for a bass guitar vibrating your seat or a drummer banging as loud as he can. Bonnie Raitt and her band are excellent musicians and a privilege to listen to. Our last two concerts were The Eagles and Andre Bocelli and she was just as enjoyable.

Thrilling … Moving … Memorable Crowd greeted her & band before her concert even began with a standing ovation with several others throughout and at end. Tributes to various artists tastefully and artistically done. Opening act of Royal Woods very entertaining. All in all, the Bonnie Raitt concert was the Best of the Best. Thank you.
