About

"Bluesy singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has worked long and hard for her multiple Grammy Awards, hit singles and chart-topping records. Since her 1971 eponymous debut, the California-born performer and long-time activist has steadily maintained a music career, albeit with definite peaks and valleys. The red-headed songstress, one of the only women of her time to play guitar using the bottleneck technique, unleashed seven albums in just nine years, though her big commercial break came with her 10th studio set, 1989’s “Nick of Time.” That 11-track collection, produced by Don Was, earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.

Not only has the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tackled multiple U.S. tours and international runs, but she’s also a frequent participant in events of social activism, such as Farm Aid and Amnesty International concerts.

Raitt’s 16th full-length album and most recent studio release, “Slipstream,” hit retailers in 2012. Not only did ticket sales for the support tour soar, but Raitt also landed the best-selling blues album of the year and took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album."

  • Bonnie Raitt loves to perform

by scamander on 2012-08-14Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Bonnie Raitt's passion for music exploded forth on the QE stage as she carried the audience through decades of her blues-influenced pop hits. Her generosity towards her opening band and her invitation to Colin James to join in on the last few songs made for a happy time for all.

  • Bonnie Raitt a retired couples pure enjoyment.

One of all time best concerts my wife and I have been to. The opening with John Lee Sanders was perfect and set the tone for a night of excellent blues and steel guitar. This performance opened my eyes to an extremely talented lady. She has always been one of my wife's favorites and now she is one of mine. The half hour encore and jam session was second to none.

  • Bonnie just keeps on rockin'!

She's the best sounding 62 year old we've ever had the honour of seeing live. The new album is stunning, we listened to it three times when we got home. Jamming with Colin James at the end was just icing on the cake!

  • Bonnie is cooler than ever

Have been a fan of Bonnie's since the 70's and she never ceases to amaze and put it out there 100% Love her slide guitar so much, just wish she'd do more of it and even play some of the truly early stuff... long before "Nick of Time" Love her band, but her voice is truly heartfelt blues perfection.

  • Raitt is great

by felrob on 2012-08-13Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

A little rough for the first couple of tunes, the band and the sound came together beautifully for the rest of the show. Straight ahead, honest musicianship and lyric delivery. Awesome. When's she coming back?

  • Coulda, woulda, shoulda been much better

Recently I saw the Dukes of September at the Orpheum (great seats). It took the sound guy about 7 songs to get with the program. It left a bad taste in my mouth that at such a highly regarded venue, sound quality would be an issue. This concert wasn't as disappointing but it had similar traits. I payed $110.00 to see Bonnie, not her drummer. He highjacked most of the performance; I found the drumming more than a little overwhelming! Bonnie had to work very hard to sing over him, by the end of the show her voice was admittedly a little spent. She was concerned about her voice for her next performance in Edmonton. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not choked with the drummer; Drummer just doing his thing. It's the sound man I have issue with. I have no idea what he was hearing, I just know it wasn't what I was hearing. Scale the drum level back several notches and this show is top notch, 100%, 5 stars! After the opening act (descent), the four of us discussed that the sound was not "spot on". The high end stuff was pitchy and it was quite difficult making out what the front man was saying. We all liked him, we just couldn't understand what he was saying. The folks in the Center orchestra seemed more geeked than the folks in our section. We could understand Bonnie much (more) better but we had the benefit of knowing the lyrics. I just wish she didn't have to wear herself out trying to sing over the drum level. Final assessment - 3 1/2 stars.

Wonderful concert. Bonnie was magnificent and her audience loved her. When Colin James made an appearance at the end of her concert, it was like old home week on stage. My sister and I loved her, loved the music.

  • Would see Bonnie Raitt whenever she is in the vici

Bonnie Raitt's group was exceptional. Musicianship was excellent. THE ONLY DRAWBACK WAS THE VOLUME LEVEL. Why is it necessary to try & damage the eardrums with the volume being so high. I have found that many of the live concerts are the same. I listen to music regularly on a $20,00.00 system & have never found it necessary to play the music at so high a level in order to enjoy it.

  • Bonnie Raitt perfection

by Studmuffin on 2012-08-12Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Bonnie makes it all look so easy - she is so comfortable and relaxed on stage, so warm and friendly and funny that you like her immediately. But then the singing - she was absolutely fantastic - her voice has never sounded better and she belted them out for two hours non-stop. She actually brought a tear to this jaded old eye on two occasions - "I Can't Make You Love Me" was so heartfelt and intense, and "Angel From Montgomery" just grabbed the heartstrings and wouldn't let go. Her jamming and improvising with Colin James near the end was very cool and very impressive. This was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. Come back Bonnie - we need more of this kind of first-class performing.

  • Bonnie Vancouver

by Jandc on 2012-08-12Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Great show. Warm up was luke warm... Bonnie was great although with the acoustics of Queen Elizabeth, the sound was muddy so the engineers should have brought the drums and lead guitar down so we could hear Bonnie clearer. The last part of the encore when Colin James came on was great! A real live Jam Session with everyone having a run at it was great fun to watch and hear.

  • Bonnie and her band were incredible

One of the best shows we've ever seen and we've been to lots. Such a great lady with a hand picked band that were fabulous. I'd go see them again in a heartbeat.

  • Up Close and Personal

I don't often get to sit in front row center seats like I did for this concert, but wow the experience was utterly fantastic. The band was amazing, but none more amazing than Bonnie herself who has such wonderful character and personality. And oh yeah, she still sings as strong as ever. Loved the new material/album, too. She also made a gracious gesture near the end by bringing Colin James out to join her band for a song or two.

  • Bonnie Raitt... timeless, sexy, awesome!

by GregzoVancouver on 2012-08-12Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The Queen Elizabeth Theatre on a sultry summer night. Packed house. Bonnie Raitt and her incredible group of musicians... who could ask for more? At 62, Bonnie is as vibrant, passionate, real and cool as ever. Her voice has withstood the test of time, and she managed to keep 2,900 fans riveted in the palm of her hand. This show was all about real musicians with real talent delivering live off-the-floor kick-ass music. Nothing looped or synthesized or programmed. This is what great music is all about. And to have good 'ol Canadian rocker, Paul James, show up on stage for an all-out jam fest on the final song of the final encore... WOW! Pure magic. Thank you Bonnie and your gifted sidemen. Friday, August 10th 2012 in Vancouver will live on as one of the highlights of my life.

It was great to see Bonnie again. She is always on the top of her game. Bonnie is proving that like a good bottle of red wine... as the years go by it just gets better and better. Love you Bonnie.

  • Bonnie Rocks

by Aloloha on 2012-08-12Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

An awesome show from the opening act to the final encore. Bonnie and her band played one excellent song after another - her voice soared especially through those beautiful ballads like Angel of Montgomery and I Can't Make You Love Me....wow! She made it clear she was happy to be here in our fair city to start the 2nd leg of her tour. We were thrilled!!

  • Bonnie Raitt Flawless

by Anonymous on 2012-08-12Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

With the "Luck of the Draw" I managed to purchase excellent tickets to the Bonnie Raitt concert in "The Nick of Time". It was a "Fundamental" experience which caught me up in the "Slipstream". Bonnie did not fail to "Give it Up" and sent the "Glow" with "Sweet Forgiveness" past "Homeplate". Her entire performance was flawless!!

I've been following this woman for decades, loved her voice, songs, but her guitar playing just thrilled me!! The band has been with her for years and Mike on keyboards and his voice was just a bonus yummy!!!
