About

"Bluesy singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has worked long and hard for her multiple Grammy Awards, hit singles and chart-topping records. Since her 1971 eponymous debut, the California-born performer and long-time activist has steadily maintained a music career, albeit with definite peaks and valleys. The red-headed songstress, one of the only women of her time to play guitar using the bottleneck technique, unleashed seven albums in just nine years, though her big commercial break came with her 10th studio set, 1989’s “Nick of Time.” That 11-track collection, produced by Don Was, earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.

Not only has the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tackled multiple U.S. tours and international runs, but she’s also a frequent participant in events of social activism, such as Farm Aid and Amnesty International concerts.

Raitt’s 16th full-length album and most recent studio release, “Slipstream,” hit retailers in 2012. Not only did ticket sales for the support tour soar, but Raitt also landed the best-selling blues album of the year and took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album."

I first saw Bonnie Raitt in 1979, and she is better today, with a better band and an unlimited repertoire.

Bonnie steals my heart, yet again

by Drummer44 on 2017-06-14Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Bonnie never ceases to amaze me. By far the most soulful singer (to my musical ears, and taste) in the past 50 yrs. Her band can play anything and have a 'feel' matched by no others. Truly a memorable evening.

Best concert I have seen in a long time. She played for 1.5 hours. her voice is still crystal clear & her guitar playing is sensational. Her back up band is brilliant as well. We would see her anytime.

Bonnie Raitt is dazzling, from start to finish

by Maxisingsong on 2017-06-12Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Bonnie Raitt is a huge favourite in our family, so she was singing to the choir, but I have to say, this was one of the best concerts I have ever heard. She sings like an angel, her band is full of superstar musicians, and the soundman knew what to do with her voice. Professionally, I'm a soundman, so I'm fussy about sound at concerts. I've seen too many shows with lousy sound, where you can barely hear the singer. For this Bonnie Raitt Tour, the soundman is a guy named Pete, (She thanked him from the stage) Pete took us on a tour all the way inside Bonnie Raitt's heart. We could hear every detail, every emotion, so clear, not cluttered with sound effects. It sounded so beautiful. What a beautiful woman. What a great team. This is a boffo tour, a must see, a once in a lifetime experience.

    Timeless Bonnie Raitt and Band

by Pat29 on 2017-06-12Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Saw Bonnie Raitt, band and Royal Wood on Friday Night June 9th at the Sony Center in Toronto. This venue is one of my all time favorites with terrific acoustics and comfort! But that was nothing compared to the performances of Bonnie Raitt and Band. These players (George Marinelli, Mike Fitzpatrick, Hutch Hutchinson and Ricky Fataar) are terrific players and although in my age group (pretty senior), play and sing like they are in their 30's. Bonnie's voice is rare and almost unchanged since we first heard her and earmarked her as one of a very few special vocalists. Her tone is simply still fantastic as are her abilities on the Guitar, and the band is so good I am sure they could play and sing anything. I highly recommend seeing this terrific show and will definitely make this one of my must see again shows. Opening was Royal Wood leading his small trio. I had never seen Royal even though he is a local artist. He was outstanding and his vocals impressive. Well worth seeing and great entertainment. On my way to ITunes now to buys some of his music. Thanks for an awesome night of entertainment Bonnie, George, Mike, Hutch, Ricky and Royal!

A GREAT show by a veteran performer

by DRVTO on 2017-06-12Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

I have seen Bonnie Raitt four times. This show was equal to or better than any previous shows which were all great. She is at the top of her artistry surrounded by four super good musicians. Royal Wood as the intro act was also worth the price of admission. This is a don't miss show.

    Fabulous Show

by BarrysHamiltonFriend on 2017-06-12FirstOntario Concert Hall (Formerly Hamilton Place) - Hamilton

Bonnie Raitt has an amazing band backing her up, as she continues to play an awesome slide guitar and use her strong rich voice to give an incredible emotional richness to her songs. Royal Wood played a warm, moving, and impressive opening set. This performer deserves to be the featured act, himself. I do wish, however, that FirstOntario Concert Hall would find a way to minimize the disruption caused by latecomers. During the wonderful opening act, several patrons arrived at their seats while Royal was singing. Most were carrying drinks (so they had enough time to buy a drink, but, seemingly, not to get to their seat for the start of the show - why are drinks being sold during the show?) and distracted the courteous patrons who had arrived on time.

    Blues Never Felt So Good

by FiftySomethingFab on 2017-06-06National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I had the great good fortune to score two tickets for the recent Bonnie Raitt concert at the NAC, June 1st, 2017. The opening act was a young singer named Royal Wood; he was good...with a little more time and work, he'll probably be great. Bonnie Raitt was just...amazing. That powerful voice can break your heart, then lift it to soaring heights, and her skilled guitar work is pure joy to the ears. She has a natural ability to connect with the audience by being down-to-earth, funny, and personable. I did notice a few "messy" moments during her backup band's instrumentals, but that's because I prefer really crisp sound. The keyboard player performed a B.B. King number that brought everyone leaping to their feet in applause; throughout the show, lighting, effects, and general sound quality were great. Go see her...totally worth it!!

Bonnie Raite - A class act!

by JohnBr on 2017-06-04National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

One of the best concerts I have attended in recent years. Bonnie and her band were clearly enjoying themselves. Sound was excellent as well. The lighting/video was tastefully done and did not distract from the music and performers as is often the case.

    excellent show by Bonnie Raitt

by anyNickname on 2017-06-04National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

An excellent blues show put on by Bonnie et al. She had a nice mix of new and old songs and her guitar playing was featured. She also sang beautifully. The sound mix was very well done - all the instruments were well-balanced i.e. none dominating the mix and the volume wasn't too loud. Very good backup band, too. haven't seen many shows as good or better than this.

Bonnie Rait - world class, must see.

by SplitT on 2017-06-04National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

What a talent. Among the best guitarists and singers ever. She has also assembled a band that compliments her skills. I enjoyed her candor with the crowd regarding US politics and also her response to requests. She changed the content and order of the play list a few times which was fun for the audience but probably threw the technical staff a curve.
