About

"Bluesy singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has worked long and hard for her multiple Grammy Awards, hit singles and chart-topping records. Since her 1971 eponymous debut, the California-born performer and long-time activist has steadily maintained a music career, albeit with definite peaks and valleys. The red-headed songstress, one of the only women of her time to play guitar using the bottleneck technique, unleashed seven albums in just nine years, though her big commercial break came with her 10th studio set, 1989’s “Nick of Time.” That 11-track collection, produced by Don Was, earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.

Not only has the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tackled multiple U.S. tours and international runs, but she’s also a frequent participant in events of social activism, such as Farm Aid and Amnesty International concerts.

Raitt’s 16th full-length album and most recent studio release, “Slipstream,” hit retailers in 2012. Not only did ticket sales for the support tour soar, but Raitt also landed the best-selling blues album of the year and took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album."

One of the best musical events I've attended. I was surprizingly impressed with Marc Cohn. Bonnie Raitt and her band were outstanding. Truely enjoyable event.

Bonnie and her musicians were hot! She generously stayed on stage for an extra eight songs and played two hours straight. Great show!

  • A Perfect Performance

This was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. I've been a Raitt fan for years, but this performance was incredible. Bonnie is a warm, gracious and funny entertainer as well as a consummate musician. We travelled a considerable distant to see her, and would do it again in a heartbeat.

  • Plug it in and crank the hell out of it!

Bonnie was one of the people who first inspired me to not only pick up a guitar, but to plug it in and crank the hell out of it! As a fellow female rock/blues musician I was speechless at how simply amazing she truly is. She's kicked in doors that needed kickin' in and will continue to ride that guitar off in to the sunset. For those of us coming up from a younger generation, her persistence is uplifting and her soul indescribable; every moment of this concert inspired me to keep doin' my thing and to keep lovin' my ole six string. As I'm originally from Saskatchewan it was great to see my fellow flatlander, Colin James, join her at the end...awesome!

  • Love Bonnie

I enjoyed watching a pro play her music and enjoy the audience. Her guitar playing is right up there with Eric Clapton's. Her vocals throaty and personal especially on 'I Can't Make You Love Me'. She presents a great show and you definitely get your monies worth. Ms Raitt has been involved in music for a long time. She up there with the best! Her biography is interesting reading, and you should read it. She is excellent and I would see her again in a heart beat!

  • Amazing Artist

by 01Fan on 2012-08-20Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Bonnie Raitt rocked the Jubilee with her brand of blues. Her trademark voice was in fine form and no female artist can play the guitar like her. She was personal with the audience and made jokes regarding her advancing age which includes memory loss and climates changes! Her band was polished and enjoyed playing for a very receptive audience.

  • Nearly crawled on the stage.

My wife loves me - supports me - puts up with me and urges me still. We've been doing this live thing for a while and when I hears the music I must move, groove and hardly sit. I either need to get old real quick or be strapped in tight, cuz cousin the bayou was calling with John Lee Sanders. There was petrol and the match was lit and with the Devil on the Run, I was hearing the choir sweet sustain me. I think the fire of Bonnie and the Band is sincerity. If you read the pre-concert Herald backgrounder, she is as is my wife and I, mid and lately finding age creeping up on you all. Sadness a credo, by which we linger or resurge, she finds her roots in the companionship of her mates and heavy licks of blues and sultry sadness. The voice is as Celine, pure and powerful, directed to attentive memories. Stop as we may, along this life long stay, upon friends we do demand - solace and that command gently urges us to share. There is no doubtin' the keyboarder's great shouting blues commandingly from his console, and the guitarist aside, the kind I likened to slide, me gently home whatever country roads we travel.

  • Bonnie Raitt was fabulous!

Finally got to see Bonnie Raitt in concert & she was even better in person than I could have hoped for! Her voice is distinctly hers & as is her guitar prowess & both are fantastic. And She is very personable on stage. She is backed up by some of the most professional musicians that she could have put together. She has been on my bucket list for years & the wait was worth it!! And if she came back tomorrow, I'd be buying tickets again! And again.

This concert was excellent and everything I had hoped it would be after listening to her for years on CD. I enjoyed the opening band but was very ready for her to come on and she didn't disappoint. Loved it!

  • Bonnie Raitt still rocks!

by ZeeInLethbridge on 2012-08-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Loved this show! Bonnie stills shreds on the guitar (many of them, in fact) and her voice is still as sultry and soulful as ever. Enjoyed the songs from the new album as well.

  • True artist

This woman is ageless and so is her voice, her professionalism and her artistry. In age where "talent" is manufactured, this performance showed what the "real deal" looks like. . . a lifetime of passion and dedication to her art/music. Stunning vocals, incredible range of tunes, fantastic musicianship. Musical highlight of my summer 2012!

Miss Bonnie, When I came home, my younger daughter (22 years old) was in the kitchen. My first interaction with her was to throw my arms into the air saying "Bonnie, rocks!" Then we gave each other a grand hug!

  • Bonnie Rait absolutely awesome!

by SSSG on 2012-08-15Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Everything about this concert was fantastic! The choice of songs, the stage, the lights, her guitar selection. Bonnie Rait's voice sounded perfect, her band was incredible, especially Mr. Finnegan and the opening act, John Sanders was also extremely entertaining. We had a blast! Thanks!

Such a lovely lady and fantastic talent! I wish I could belt out a song like she can, and the way she played that slide guitar is amazing. I hope she comes back to Calgary soon!
