Seen them three times now and they never disappoint.
I love the band, their studio work and what I've seen and read virtually, but the live performance on August 19th at Scotia Bank Place, Toronto was a royal let down. It disappointed to the extent that we almost left during the encore performance. The sound quality echoed and was dreadful, song endings were excessively long, over half the concert was solos and instrumentals which I personally despise, song compositions had long solos that killed any momentum that the band had, losing the audience, nauseating grandstanding and lack of stage effects (to compensate for the long solos and instrumentals). During the encore performance of the Highway Tune they abandoned the catchy guitar riff half way through and drifted into random solos and instrumentals. I can't remember a more disappointing concert. I understand that they don't have many albums (3) but they do have enough good material, talent and presumably producer support and funding to produce a great live show. Other than the talent, the sound quality is the most important aspect of a live musical performance. I would expect for a popular emerging band earning good money, the sound quality should be solvable and manageable for any venue. Other bands manage accomplish it successfully. For anyone that attended the concert and gave GVF 5 stars, they need to be honest with themselves or get out to more. The couple beside us were so stoked before the concert that they could hardly contain themselves. I could tell that mid way through performance that they mellowed and lost the enthusiasm. Regarding comparison to Led Zeppelin, let's be honest, there is none and there never should be.
Incredible. They sound exactly the same as their recorded music. All the standing was worth it! Josh speaks beautiful words related to the songs and all of them are so talented and amazing to watch! Both times were unreal. 1000% would see them again!
Sounded perfect and put in a great show. I will definitely be going to any concerts they may have in my area in the future
Greta Van Fleet was amazing!! My partner and I were standing, however, and with 2 openers and a lot of time in between, by the time Greta came on our bodies were falling apart. We got in line at 5, let in at 6, first show started at 7, second show at 8, Greta at 9... Chairs set up on the floor would have been magical.
Good concert for an up and coming band. Can't wait to see the next, more polished version of the band. Really good starting acts too!
The lead singer has a great voice and great control but the unending wailing is gimmicky as all heck. It's actually tiring to hear it. It was like watching skilled toddlers. "Look at meeeeee!" Ok ok I get it. Wheeehheeeeyyyeaaaaughhagghheyyyaaaaaa
The opening bands were super good and once Greta came on the energy was amazing and the show was so good. I would definitely go to another one of their shows again :)
Overall good energy. Sound was substandard. Couldnt hear the guitar which is essential to many of their songs
The Pretty Reckless opened up - While I love the band and Taylor and seen them live 3 times before, the venue was too big or something else but they were off. Sounds wasn't great for them and she went through some motions Great on the other hand was amazing ! I've seen them before in a small club but they were even better now - more matured and great entertainers. Sounds was on point and the jamming and extended playing was awesome to see. They are hugely talented ! Definitely would see them again.
Enjoyed the show all acts very good and the sound was great. Greta Van Fleet’s set was very short for the main act.
Josh is an amazing singer live, Jake, Sam and Danny are awesome musicians, it was like being in the 70s, the show, the music, everything was amazing, lots of young people really enjoying the moment, wish it could be longer, but I was really satisfied with the whole show
I could have sat there all night listening to GRETA VAN FLEET. Concert was absolutely amazing.
Just an all aound amazing show. Greta can play he can sing oh man can he sing. For a 52 year old women going to a a rock conert with her 25 year daughter, this mama had th most bestest time i even lost mt voice. They the drm solo took me to another level. Would see them again for sure
One of the most clearest and amazing sound and performance. They kept the crowd energized and interacted with us. The stage was simple with some pyrotechnics but it was fine as the band has a presence that can’t be ignored. Beer was too expensive
It was a perfect homage to a good old arena rock show!! The sound mixing for the back up band sucked, way too heavy on the bass but Greta Van Fleet was PERFECTLY mixed..in fact it was the best sound ive ever had for an arena show!
Security was lacking. Too much pot in the audience, even right next to the aisles which could have easily been confiscated. And one guy leaped over the seats and majorly physically assaulted a young man and it took forever to remove him from the arena, ruining the show for my boyfriend and traumatizing him. I know they can't possibly control everything but this just felt neglectful.
Opening acts are very cool. Greta Van Fleet is not my favourite band, but, boy, do them give a great show!
This show was incredible! The band sounds even better live than they do on their records. Highly recommend seeing them live wherever you can. I know I’ll definitely be seeing them again when given the chance!
These guys give an authentic, pedal to the metal, fire breathing, rock concert experience. They are skilled musicians that really know how to entertain. Great to see, and especially hear Rock in it’s full glory.
