About
Marianas Trench in Concert
Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.
Marianas Trench Background
Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.

Played out
by RedZinfindel on 2016-03-30Enmax - LethbridgeRating: 3 out of 5I regretfully have to say that we were quite disappointed with the show. Kieran Mercer and WOTE were fantastic but the main artist sounded horrible. Just seemed like his heart wasn't in it. We found it very hard to get into it. It's almost as if he was running out of breath. Opening bands especially WOTE was amazing! Opening act(s): Kieran Mercer and WOTE

Really enjoyed the show with my daughter, something she will remember forever!!!
Terrible Sound
by Bomber585 on 2016-03-29Brandt Centre - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 2 out of 5Kieran Mercer and Walk off the Earth were fantastic!! MT on the other hand sounded like crap! I was very disappointed in the quality of the sound. Time to fire some sound techs because they just weren't doing their job!! Could have been way better.

Kieran Mercer was a nice surprise and has a great live presence. WOTE was fantastic. Very good musicians and entertainers. Marianas Trench put on a good show, but it was a little loud, resulting in some sound distortion. Looking forward to the return of both bands to the area.
Lifetime show!
by CelenaMT on 2016-03-29Brandt Centre - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 5 out of 5Of all the Marianas Trench shows that I have been to, this show was a night to remember. All the shows fitting perfectly together along with the interactions with the fans, it was a very good time. I got Diamond Meet and Greet, so with getting to ask the band questions, along with hearing some songs they haven't played in forever, I was amazed that the band still is to the top as they were when I first saw them.
Top 3 concerts I've been to!!
by KenzPeters on 2016-03-29Brandt Centre - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 5 out of 5Once again Marianas Trench provided an amazing concert. The entire night felt like one big party. I've seen the band preform twice during the ex but this was my very first "proper" concert of theirs that I went to. The crowd went from cheering/chanting during the upbeat songs like Celebrity Status and All to Myself, laughing when Josh started laughing during Pop 101 and crying while the band sang One Love. All I can say is that I have high expectations of their next tour and can't wait for them to come back to YQR. Walk off the Earth was a unreal opening act as well. Hands down one of the best shows I've been to!!! Thanks for the memories
Marianas Trench is AWESOME
by mygirl on 2016-03-29Brandt Centre - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 5 out of 5I had never heard of Kieran Mercer, who opened the show, but he was really good. I even downloaded a coupe of his songs. Then came Walk Off The Earth.... Phenomenal!! They are ridiculously talented and super fun to watch live. And of course Marianas Trench... No words. They sang old songs and new, and gave an unbelievable performance as always. Josh Ramsay even went to the back of the crown and played on his piano giving the "terrible" seats a front row experience. So great, love these guys!!

by Bluescat on 2016-03-29MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5Both Marianas Trench and Walk of the Earth provided outstanding and diverse entertainment. Both bands enticed the audience to participate and join in creating an outstanding experience for all.
Marianas Trench was AMAZING!!! HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
by NicDee on 2016-03-29MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5I went with my daughter who is the BIGGEST FAN and I was blown away by the amount of music they played and that they sounded just like their records. Josh Ramsey has such a unique voice. We also had Diamond tickets and we were at the Q & A, they were so down to earth....well what else would they be....their CANADIAN!!!!
Such a creative show!
by csalt on 2016-03-29MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5Marianas Trench is one of my favourite bands and I LOVE seeing them in concert since I know all the words. I love how humble the Josh is. He did a walk around the whole floor and it was cool to be that close to him. He did his few songs on the floor in the crowd. You just know that they're all such talented singers. He flew a couple of times and that was pretty cool.

Marianas Trench Delivers AGAIN
by KarRob on 2016-03-28MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5This is my adult daughter's all time favorite band. She has been following them since their inception, so of course I got her tickets (and was lucky enough to accompany her this time)! The crowd went wild when Marianas Trench came on! All 3 shows were great. Marianas Trench continued with their '80's theme from their new album Astoria and then did some of their well known hits and they were fantastic. They always have this sort of rock opera theme and with all the drama and lights and just how they perform, it is always a concert worth going to! We loved it and would highly recommend seeing them again :D Many thanks to Marianas Trench for coming back to the 'Peg! Kieran Mercer band played first and then WOTE came on. They were both FANTASTIC!! Fave moments - Kieran Mercer has quite the sense of humour but man can he sing, and his keyboard player is really good at getting the crowd involved. WOTE is a great band. I think my fave moment was when the ENTIRE band was playing on the guitar and singing! It was something I have never seen before and they totally rocked it!
Can't get enough of Marianas Trench - amazing live
by MusicFann on 2016-03-28MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5Amazing show live! Lyrics are addictive and they clearly love to perform and interact with the crowd. Josh has a great sense of humour and keeps the crowd engaged throughout. Can 't wait for their next concert and album - come back to the Peg soon!!!

Not worth the money
by GiGiFiGi on 2016-03-28MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 2 out of 5We were not impressed with the show The sound was off The light show was good They need to go back to the older music
Disappointing
by chikanumba8 on 2016-03-27Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5I regretfully have to say that we were very disappointed with the show. Kieran Mercer and WOTE were fantastic but the main artist sounded horrible. Josh sounded a little bit better singing their new songs but absolutely butchered the older songs. We found it very hard to get into it. It's almost as if he was running out of breath. Definitely does not sound like he did years ago.
