About

Marianas Trench in Concert

Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.

Marianas Trench Background

Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.

I really liked their songs stutter and fallout that are always playing on the radio so i decided to go... I LOVED this whole show. I go to ALOT of concerts and this one was one of the best! The crowd was full of energy... everyone was dancing and jumping... so fun! they sound good live as well. I'm sorry i didn't discover how much i loved them earlier when the full tour was on. I would have went to several of their shows!

  • Mediocre at best

I've seen Marianas Trench many times and different venues. The Molson Amphitheatre did not bring out the best in them. Heavy on the bass, Josh's vocals could hardly be heard. And either his mic failed numerous times or he just decided to stop singing. My seats were fifth row 200 section.

Marianas Trench is an incredibly talented band. Josh Ramsay's musical abilities are exceptional......all those instruments and his voice. Very, very cool. We loved every minute of the band's performance. We also enjoyed the antics on stage given that it was the band's last tour night, and my daughter didn't want to wash her hair after Josh touched her head while walking around the stadium. I talked her into it, tho. :) Great night, and amazing show!

  • Great Show!!

I was a little unsure of how Marianas Trench would be live after seeing them perform on a few award shows but that disappeared the second Josh Ramsay opened his mouth! They were fantastic!! i enjoyed every second of the show and was actually given goosebumps when the guys hit their harmonies I cannot wait for them to come back!! From Josh flying across the stage to dancing in their tighty whiteies it was never a dull moment!

  • A very engaging concert!

It was easy to see that Anami Vice, Down with Webster, and Marianas Trench all love their jobs. They actually knew what city they were in and engaged the crowd in every aspect of the concert. Marianas Trench played all of their hit songs and did a great job telling the Ever After story. It was disappointing that Down with Webster didn't play "Big Wheels." Overall, a very good concert - I definitely would go see these bands again.
