About

Marianas Trench in Concert

Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.

Marianas Trench Background

Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.

Best concert ever! They interacted with the crowd and performed their very best for their last show and went out with a bang! Loved it!

  • Mariana's Trench was incredible!

Both Down with Webster and Mariana's trench were fantastic. Mariana's Trench was unbelievable live! However, CUC's policy of one beverage per person was very frustrating especially considering that is not normal. An event earlier in the week was not capped to this.

I love loved Marianna's trench. Voices and performance were incredible! Wasn't a huge fan of the 2 opening bands though.

Down with Webster won hands down for vocals for the evening, but Marianas Trench won for entertainment, presentation, and crowd pleasing

  • Spectacular

Their show is well thought out and creative. I love how Josh goes into the audience so the fans can get up close. You can see how much that means to them. Josh flying around stage on a set of wires is awesome and I don't know how he can play guitar in the positions he does. The video story is cool and putting pictures up of fans shows how grateful this band is for their fans. Josh plays so many instruments as well and his vocals are awesome. Talented musician and writer. His bandmates are notable too and this band clearly loves working together.

I didn't think much of Anami Vice. Down with Webster were better. My daughter enjoyed these the most. Mariana's Trench put on a good show.

The show was great, very professional! Sounded awesome, Mariana's Trench was really good, and put on a great show! My daughter especially loved it when Josh Ramsay went into the crowd while singing a song - and my daughter was standing right next to him! She was thrilled to see him up close and personal! A show we will not forget! Thanks Guys!!

This was my first time seeing Marianas Trench in concert, and I wasn't disappointed. The whole concert was amazing and they were most certainly entertaining. They seemed genuinely appreciative of their fans as Josh went out into the crowd and interacted with them. Simply amazing Marianas Trench....Thank you!!

  • Mislead

by Bummers on 2013-04-19Enmax Centrium - Red DeerRating: 3 out of 5

The tickets had assigned floor seats but it was standing room only! I've had multiple surgeries on my knee. I was in so much pain by the time the main act came on I had to leave before they were done. I don't think I will go to the Centrium ever again! What I saw of the show minus the first act was good though.

  • A most wonderful experience!

by TSmith on 2013-04-16Prince George CN Centre - Prince GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

Marianas Trench's "Face The Music" concert in Prince George was wonderful. Granted, it was my first ever concert so I know not what really makes a concert wonderful, but I enjoyed myself immensely. The opening acts (Amani Vice and Down With Webster) did an amazing job getting the crowd (which was quite diverse in age terms) pumped. I don't want to give too much of the concert's magic away, you really must see for yourself!

  • Concert was unforgettable!!!

Anami Vice, Down With Webster, and Marianas Trench were all awesome! They sounded great, and looked great. I will absolutely remember the concert. I hope they come to Prince George again, because I am so going again! I loved it!
