Marianas Trench in Concert
Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.
Marianas Trench Background
Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.
Had a great time! Mariana’s Trench never disappoints!!
Went with my sister and we both had a blast! Mico and Marianas Trench were both amazing and put on a heck of a show! Staff was very helpful finding our seats.
Amazing concert! Was my second time seeing Marianas Trench & my first time going to the Casino! My friend I brought it was her first time seeing them! The opener Mico was great to! He put on a good show:)! Marianas Trench was AMAZING! It was my friends first time seeing them & we both loved the concert!❤️🖤 I would prefer them to have more merch tho tbh🙃 wasn't a HUGE selection maybe 2 T-shirts, a crewneck pull over sweater thing, & a key chain🙃 Next time I see them I hope they have more merch🥰 Over all great concert!!
First time seeing Mariana’s Trench, definitely won’t be the last!!! Every expectation that you’d want from a concert was exactly that night and more!
Such an amazing performance! I have been dying to see them play for the past 10 years and finally it was my first time seeing them, and they did not disappoint. Drove 4 hours to come to the show. The only downfall was they only had one table to get tshirts and the line was about a hour to 2 hour wait before and after the show, and as a person that has a disability I couldn’t stand that long. Only reason for the 4 stars, band was easily 5 stars.
Mariana’s Trench will always deliver a performance, the only issues I had were with the venue itself. The lack of clear labelling of the seats and how close together they’re were on ground level was not pleasant.
I have seen Marianas Trench many times in concert and theh always put on a great show! They sound amazing and interact with the fans in a fun way! The venue at the River Cree wasn't the best venue, as our frint row seats faced directly at a wall and the rule to remain in your seats was not enforced, so people from rows behind us, stood in front of my parents and I. My parents due to health reasons are not able to stand for very long and needed to sit but were unable to see the band very much due to this issue. Otherwise, the experience was overall good!
So much fun, such great songs, interactions with audience, human side with forgotten lyrics (but that's okay). They are 4 amazingly talented musicians and their supporting crew do great work too!!! 7th time seeing them live and I will go see them again and again, LOVE them and their music!!!
Marianas trench has been my favourite band since I was 11. I’ve seen 4 of their concerts and every one has been absolutely amazing and it’s always a surprise what they will play from previous albums. I can’t wait until they release their new album and I’m able to attend the next show! Thank you for an amazing night, my mom and I will love you guys forever. <3
Josh was not pitch perfect, but man did he put on a perfect show. Ever feel like your only hearing mix tapes and voice overs? Not with these guys. All josh all night made for an unforgettable experience. Go see these guys live!! My words could never express the true enjoyment of being a part of this show...Forester who was the opening band was a suprise ( didnt know there was an opening band) was high energy and fun as hell also. Never heard of them til tonight and i am definatly a new fan!!
No matter what I love the band. Love the songs. I loved that they were in a small venue. And the crowd was singing their songs.
Wow!!! Marianas Trench put on a Steller show! i am very impressed with their catalogue of tunes!! The opening act Forester put on a very very good show!! what a talented local band!! i would see both these bands again in a heartbeat!!
Best concert I’ve been at! The opening band was…underwhelming but once Marianas trench got on stage, they exceeded my expectations for the concert. 100/10 would see again.
So I went to the river cree resort and casino. It was packed and the seating arrangement was very tight and it was hard to see josh but the giant screens made up for it. This was my 4th time and I was not disappointed they are amazing guys who really care about their fans .
Hi! I don’t think this particular venue is the best one for a punk rock band to be playing. Specially with hard core loving fans attending. Assigned seating is a no go for this kind of performance. We need room to dance and let lose.
I have seen Marianas Trench live many times and they never disappoint! I’m always sad at the end of their shows because I could listen and jam out with them all night!! The venue was great! Everyone was friendly! If I could change one thing, I would have been great the have a little more room between the rows of chairs to allow for dancing and rocking out. Aside from that, it was an awesome show and venue!
They did a great job of playing their most popular music and new music - keeping the audience engaged. Marianas Trench always have and always will put on a great show! It was also a great venue!
We thought that there wasn't an opening act, so we got there at 8:45pm to start our Mariana's Trench journey. Unfortunately, they did not start until 10:00pm - which is fine for a Friday night! Crowd was great, band was great and very entertaining. The only problem I had was I found the microphone was too low, so you couldn't hear the singing over the band. Everything else was great, can't wait for more!
Show was great. Sound was terrible as was the parking exit. The River Cree needs to do some upgrading.
Long time fan of marianas trench. 10/10. No criticisms. And the venue was awesome for it. Only slight issue was the sound thing. All the talking was like, messy and muffled and hard to understand. I love hearing Josh's stories at his concerts, so i was super bummed i couldn't understand him talking 😂
