Marianas Trench in Concert
Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.
Marianas Trench Background
Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.

Such a good concert! Josh’s vocals were fantastic and we had a blast despite the rain!
It wasn’t just raining. It was an absolute deluge for *hours*. It was freezing cold and the acoustics for Fionn weren’t great; their voices are lovely but high pitched and don’t carry as well as they could. We were second row, almost centre, and we’d brought our daughter, 8, for her very first concert. I’ve seen Marianas on a bad day, at an outdoor concert outside of their typical concert cycle, and they were noooot good that day. This time, however, they put on one HELL of a show, despite being a bit rusty on lyrics and some technical glitches caused, in part, by wet cords. Josh spent the whole damn show in the rain with the rest of us. It was amazing and the photos are great!! I love their music, love that they still played their hearts out, and I’m looking forward to the new music when it drops ❤️❤️❤️
Even the rain could not put a damper on this concert. It was an amazing show but it always is. Can not wait for the new album to drop and the tour to start
Waited 12 hours in the rain for this show and it was worth every second
Well, it was pouring rain. We loved singing in the rain. We loved the show. BUT, the merchandise was disappointing. The lead singer kept forgetting the lyrics. I love that they embrace their imperfections, BUT we all stood there in pouring rain to watch you. Atleast know the songs you’re playing before coming out. It’s not fair to your fans. The alcohol options were disgusting. I’m just happy I got to take my son to show that wasn’t discriminating. We had the opportunity to feel like life is normal for a short time. So we are happy. Will definitely see them again.
My favourite band!! They put on a great show every single time! I always try to make it to their shows when they are in Vancouver/Vancouver island area! Great group of guys who make great music!!
A great show as always! The guys were great, sound was excellent, venue was perfect (even with the rain).
Always amazing even with the rain and being cold, was good to be able to listen to music live once again and to hear some of my favourite songs
I got front row, lined up at 1:00pm. I had an amazing time seeing the band, it being my 17tb time. It poured, but rain isn’t going to stop me. Cant wait to see them again.
I had soundcheck VIP for this concert. Both the soundcheck and concert were incredible! Hope to see them again!
I really loved the concert. just like every other show I've seen this band perform it was insane and I can't wait for my next opportunity to see them already
An enjoyable evening. Great music. Very entertaining
Upon going to the show I only knew 1 song but Marianas Trench did not fail to please. Shawn Hook was great as well.
The music and the performance was terrific. I had 4 teenagers with me who think the band is amazing.
Show was exciting, too bad he was a bit under the weather and throat was hurting. Didn't have the range he usually has. Great Show!
They were amazing, they know how to entertain their fans. We not only got superb music, we got entertained. The lead singer Josh was so grateful to his fans, spoke to us during the concert, we sang with him and he always thanked us for helping him out. Unfortunately his voice was going but that did not slow him down. He was a real trooper and gave his fans 100 percent.
What a great night. We had great seats that came with VIP service. Shawn Hook was good and Marianas Trench was amazing... it was well worth the money we spent
I've seen then them before in the past and they rocked! This concert though I was dissapointed. Josh's voice wasn't there and I didn't recognize some of the songs he was singing because he couldn't hit the notes or his voice cracked alot during the lyrics. It was a bummer.
Courage my love and Shawn Hook were excellent opening acts. When it came to Marianas trench singing Astoria it didnt sound right. Later in the night Josh confessed he had vocal issues due to illness. Matt and Mike had to fill in for most of the parts. Overall not terrible but it was a shame that Josh couldnt perform as well as he usually does.
