    Fantastic

by Isobel on 2023-11-13Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

Showcased several equine disciplines.. Great commentary especially with veteran Mac C. and announcing entries - Great interview with winning rider of Big Ben C. So appreciative of the owners of the draft teams - Wagon (Clydesdales this night) and Carriage horses (Dutch warmbloods - Friesians) and hackneys for keeping this discipline alive and for enduring the work and cost to showcase their horses, driving skills and beautiful wagons, cart and carriages. Thankful that Guy Mclean has also returned to perform and educate us on the bond and benefits of liberty trg. He, his team and horses are spectacular. His wit and humor always well received! The bar cart service returning would be great - offered in btw classes only!

    Annual horse show attendees

by LJV on 2023-11-13Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

We make a point of attending the Royal every year. As "horse people", it's a great opportunity to see and purchase horse tack and supplies. We were disappointed that several of our favourite vendors, Bahr, Picovs, Pleasant Ridge, were not there this year. The evening show was good as always. Great to see the teams of clydes and carriage horses and the jumping event was exciting. I have seen Guy McLean several times and I hope the Royal can find something new for this event. It was also very difficult to decipher what he was saying. Overall we enjoyed the day and will continue to attend every year.

    Royal Winter Fair

by MJH on 2023-11-13Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

No need to purchase tickets in advance, you can buy them at the door. Same price and maybe cheaper. Saturday, Sunday busy all day but during the week slower and same type of horse shows. Outstanding riders and horses .Lots to do and see. Food available ok but not outstanding and pricey.

Fun night out minus the awards

by Robert on 2023-11-13Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

The horse shows were great, however the constant droning on of awards, presentations, oversized cheques and "I'm such and such promoting dressage blah blah"was stunningly boring and not what we came to see. I get it that the competitors want to be recognized, but do at the end of the show so their friends and family can enjoy. The horse competition to start off was exciting to watch, the five horse demonstration was very entertaining, as well as the dressage exhibition was fun, but the interruptions from the talking heads was not. Eighteen people in the audience care who you are and what you are doing. We ended up leaving early in order to not listen to them anymore and it was just getting too late in the evening for a work night. I don't see us returning with that sort of format in place. Focus on the horse shows and demonstrations and I'll be breaking down the doors to come back. We wanted to see more dressage, but the format pushed us out the door early.

    Fabulous horse show

by Nicki on 2023-11-13Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

Love going to the Royal!! I go mainly for the horse show which was fabulous!! Was so surprised and happy to see the Battle Of The Breeds demonstration. The Saddlebreds, Morgans, Arabians and new to me half Saddlebred half Friesian breeds have been missed at the Royal for a long time now. Congratulations for bringing back those breeds and more variety to the lineup.

    A little disappointing

by Hj on 2023-11-12Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

The Royal has changed so much It is no longer a show focussing on equestrian and livestock . It now focusses On eating and buying anything and everything. The evening show was good but not as “Royal” as it used to be

    Horses horses horses!

by Birdie on 2023-11-12Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

I love the variety of horses, the draft horses are the best. The show runs on time. It still has the feeling of a premier show and it’s the grand finally of the show season..

    Royal Winter Agricultural Winter Fair

by Dave Smith on 2023-11-12Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

I have been coming to the Royal for seventy years and it never ever disappoints. It’s the one annual event I most look forward to. Being from a horse family, it’s my favourite part of the fair. I love the Fine Harness Ponies, Hackneys, Road Horses, and the heavy horses, especially Clydesdales. The Royal is the best!!!

    Great event!

by Asher on 2023-11-12Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

It’s too bad some of the Classes ie- the six horse hitch and Hackney pony harness have so few competitors. But the Show Jumping was top notch as usual! Also it really sucks when you look across the stadium and see big blocks of good seats completely empty. Big companies should’nt be aloud to buy up such good seats without knowing if their employees are actually going to show up.

    Magical and Entertaining

    by Pinacolada301 on 2023-11-12Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

From the start to the finish this was a fabulous evening. This was my first time at an actual show at the Royal - I have gone many times to the fair part. The show was so entertaining and professional it was a delight to be there. There was variety and glamour to the acts. I was excited watching and although I have no expertise in any of the qualities of the horses or riders we would make our own choices and cheer on the competitors. Every single competition was well performed and obviously included hours and hours of training. I can hardly wait for next year and will absolutely have it on my calendar to attend another evening event.

    Bren

by Bren on 2023-11-12Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

Wednesday November 8th was a down day, no dog show at 5 like other days and polo game too long making jumping long for someone who is senior and had to drive 1 1/2 hours to home.

The horse show was good but an hour too long

by Gordo on 2023-11-12Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

Most of the events at the evening horse show were fine and the horses magnificent. However, in total much too long. It started at 7 pm and didn’t finish until around 10:30. We would have left an hour early but the highlight event, the jumping competition, was the last event. The polo match could have been eliminated or reduced to at most two chukkers. Then after polo it seemed to take forever to set up the course for the jumping competition. We had arrived at the Royal at 11 am, so too long in total. If we go in future it we won’t be attending the evening horse show and will view some horse events in the afternoon instead, thus saving clos to $50.

    Best Events we've seen

by Loyal Royals on 2023-11-11Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

Definitely Wednesday evening horse show was the best selection of events we've seen at The Royal.

    Magical.

by Wheats on 2023-11-10Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

It felt amazing to attend the Royal again. Lots of wonderful vendors, incredible horse shows. The atmosphere was welcoming and I never felt crowded or rushed. Of course, as a western rider, I would love to see a bit more in that lane, but it was wonderful regardless start to finish. Well done.

    Disappointed with Dressage

    by dressage-lover on 2023-11-10Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

We attend the Royal Winter Fair and Horse Show every year, and always pick the night that Dressage is on the schedule -- it's our favourite part of the Fair. While we enjoyed the Jumping competition, we were extremely disappointed with the Dressage segment. Watching a "Master Class"was definitely not we expected -- it was totally boring -- and has never been the "event"in the many years that we've been coming to the Fair. We would ask that in future years, a description of each event should be clearly outlined on the Schedule -- if there is no Dressage competition, we will not be attending!

    Meh

by Xx on 2023-11-10Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

Have attended the Royal Horse Show for the past 30+ years (every year except when cancelled by covid … usually attended 2 nights as I would go once with family and once with friends). Dressage show this year was brutal … sorry if I wanted to attend a “clinic”, I would go to Belinda Trussell farm on a Sunday morning. The “master class” had no business at the Royal. The Royal Horse Show should show the result of all the hard work … not a riding lesson. The vendor area was terrible too and has been getting worse year after year. Many of the great tack stores don’t go any more because they say it is too expensive. It used to be a great place to do all the shopping in one place and get some deals. Now the only deals are at the individual tack stores and NOT at the Royal. When planning to attend this year, I invited my regular group of friends and some declined because it was “too depressing to see what the Royal has become”. I agree and am not planning to attend next year.
